Johnny Calls Golden Globe Win ‘Humbling’
2008-01-16 14:51:00
This post came from the Johnny Depp Web (Thanks again Guys) “I would like to thank my beloved friends at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for bestowing such an honor on me. It is a humbling experience, especially in the company of such talent. For many years the HFPA has supported my work and for that I have always been truly grateful. While this is indeed a happy day for me, I am overjoyed at the recognition the film as a whole is receiving. TIM is a dear friend and a true artist whose vision and skill inspire us all. He is a genius. Without his unwavering trust and support, I would not be anywhere near where I am today. Also, big thanks and respect to HELENA, whose simply staggering performance as Mrs. Lovett is a wonder to behold. I must send a behemoth salute to the wonderful crew and cast of ‘Sweeney Todd’ and all at Dreamworks/Paramount and Warner Bros. Pictures. In addition, I’d also like to extend my sincere gratitude to, first and foremost, my cherished frie...

The Golden Globe winners are announced - if you care
2008-01-14 23:14:00
The Golden Globes did go a head - kind of, what is normally a night long special became little more than a press conference lasting only half an hour. Because of the writers strike there were no celebrities and the only people onstage were TV presenters that were willing to cross the writers picket line. Now everyone is wondering what will happen to the Oscars and all the other award shows. But for those of you that still want to know who won here is the list of winners. Best Motion Picture Drama American Gangster WINNER Atonement Eastern Promises The Great Debaters Michael Clayton No Country for Old Men There Will Be Blood Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical Across the Universe Charlie Wilson’s War Hairspray Juno WINNER Sweeney Todd Best Actress in a Movie Drama Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth: The Golden Age WINNER Julie Christie, Away From Her Jodie Foster, The Brave One Angelina Jolie, A Mighty Heart Keira Knightley, Atonement Best Actor in a Movie Drama George Clooney, Michae...
The Golden Globe Winners That Weren't
2008-01-14 22:45:00
If I was one of the people slated to get a Golden Globe award yesterday, I would've been super-pissed. Golden Globe winners of the 65th Annual awards show are getting their trophies via FedEx or something this year. Because of the writers' strike, there was a "celebrity boycott" of the Golden Globes ceremony, with members of the Writers Guild of America threatening to picket if the show went on anyways.

And extra spice to this news: Sweeney Todd won the best musical or comedy Golden Globe.Tim Burton and Johnny Depp does it again. The duo has created another timeless masterpiece. I have been a fan of both for years now... and (like most fans) probably more excited about the win than Depp and Burton are. I will celebrate my favorite dynamic duo with a glass of wine and a film fest. I never seem to tire of Johnny and Tim..... both are forever in my heart!

The Golden Globe Winners Announced - SendMeRSS
2008-01-14 18:14:00
The Golden Globe Winners Announced The Golden Globes went off with minimal excitement Sunday, as the Writers Guild wouldn't allow a scripted ceremony and the Screen Actors Guild wouldn't let the stars attend. But despite the boring, abbreviated show, winners were still announced. And now we convey them to you.Any surprises? Well, hard to say, as there were a lot of strong contenders. Atonement is clearly the old lady choice for best drama. It's something of a surprise that it took the trophy considering four of its six competitors have higher ratings on Rottentomatoes (only the Denzel Washington dramas American Gangster and The Great Debaters trail it by a small margin). Not that RT is necessarily the final word on taste, but it does make Atonement something of a dark horse. Semi-fun fact: Ernest Borgnine was up for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Made for TV Movie, but lost to Jim Broadbent. At age 90, Borgnine nearly became the oldest man to win a Golden Globe, bu...

Golden Globe Winners Announced; Absolute Travesty! - SendMeRSS
2008-01-14 18:09:00
Golden Globe Winners Announced; Absolute Travesty! The pitiful Golden Globe Awards just finished their measly 30 minute press conference presentation and I will say it was an absolute travesty! Not only was There Will Be Blood robbed of Best Drama, but Juno did not win a single one of the three categories it was nominated for!! Is this real? Am I dreaming?! This really goes to show how much of a hack organization the HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) is and how much of a load of crap the Golden Globes truly are. If you're really curious to find out the rest of their terrible choices, you can see the full list below. I was talking on the phone with Peter Sciretta of SlashFilm as these were being announced, and when Juno lost for a third time, he was so pissed off he wanted to punch the TV. That shows you the kind of frustration that the Globes have brewed and goes to show that these really are nothing but a load of crap. I'm not afraid to say it, so someone come and prove ...

The 65th Golden Globe Awards
2008-01-14 18:08:00
The Golden Globes aired last night as a painfully boring thirty minute live press conference. There were no ugly designer gowns for me to mock or exposed nipples to point out, so I’ll just give you the list of winners as dryly as they were announced. First category: FILM Best Motion Picture – Drama: “Atonement” Didn’t see it. Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama: Julie Christie in “Away From Her” Uh, I’m pretty sure Julie Christie is dead. Do your research, people. Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama: Daniel Day-Lewis in “There Will Be Blood” I heard Daniel Day-Lewis has an eleven-inch penis. True story. This could explain the win. Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy: “Sweeney Todd” I think a better name would have been “Teeny Cod.” And it should have been about Johnny Depp doing manual labor in a tiny codpiece. Best Performance by an Ac...

But we still have winners to announce. 2008-01-14 05:26:00
The winners for the 2008 Golden Globes were announced tonight at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California in rather quiet fashion. No stars, no Hollywood power players... No, with the Writer's Guild strike still going strong, tonight's ceremony was a very business-like affair. Winners will receive this year's Globe awards by mail.In Lieu of celebs, this year's awards were presented by hosts of various entertainment news/gossip shows such as Mary Heart from E.T., Brooke Anderson from CNN and Laura Spencer from The Insider. The only real surprise was that clips were actually shown from a few categories, such as Best Animated Feature, Best Musical or Comedy and Best Drama. Word is the Hollywood Foreign Press had to pay to license these brief clips for the show. The one semi-funny moment was Cate Blanchett winning for I'm Not There because, you know, she wasn't there... ...A let down to say the least. Feel free to finish the sentence however you want but it's clear this was the most uneventful year in Golden Globe history. The press conference held at the Beverly Hills Hilton included a bunch of entertainment news anchors from ET, E! News, and The Insider who admitted they would never normally be invited to hand out Globes but this year they were pleased to fill in. Bottom line — this strike needs to end. This was an embarrassment to Hollywood's finest and we hope this helps the writers' strike end faster since we've got Oscars and more coming up in the next few weeks and we want more. Click here to see all the winners — the only one I am overjoyed with is David Duchovny winning for best actor in TV Comedy. ...
