Schneider a goner..
2009-09-12 17:43:00
Adam Rubin of the Daily News has some great quotes from Brian Schneider who appears to have excepted his fate, that he will not return next year to this team. Schneider never lived up to his reputation as a stellar defensive catcher and while we all expected him to be a weak hitter, no one could have seen him hitting under .200. I do believe most of his struggles can be attributed to nagging injuries that he's played through. "I won't be back," Schneider told the Daily News, accepting that the Mets don't plan to re-sign him. "I'm okay with that. I'll easily get a job next year. I'm not worried about it. I'll get a job and just move on. Guys do that. I'm not going to retire. No way." source Daily News Schneider has been a class act, he could have easily slid down to the end of the dugout and waited for the season to end but instead he has been proactive with Josh Thole and Mike Pelfrey. While I agree with the Mets that it's time to move on, I think it's a mistake with this ...

Bedard Truly A Goner, Now Rumored to Be Heading to Seattle for Jones and Ot
2008-01-28 02:23:00
From Rotoworld (via the Seattle Times):'Adam Jones is flying to Baltimore for a physical on Monday, suggesting the Orioles and Mariners have agreed to an Erik Bedard trade.Jones said he's been told the deal is done, though he doesn't know who is going with him to Baltimore. Asked by the Seattle Times tonight, George Sherrill said he had heard nothing to suggest he's being included. Top prospects Chris Tillman, Jeff Clement, Carlos Triunfel and Wladimir Balentien are among the players whose names have come up in rumors.'Wow. Stay tuned! A tip of the hat to Ian of Sox & Dawgs for emailing me before arguably one of the biggest games here in the area right now -- Duke vs. Maryland. If you want more perspective on the deal, check out the thread on Orioles Hangout...
Bedard, A Commodity; Could He Be A Goner Next Week?
2008-01-26 03:01:00
Being that not much is going on with the Orioles on the trade front besides rumor and speculation; alas, let's throw some more chatter out there...From Rotoworld (via the Seattle Times): General manager Bill Bavasi indicated Thursday that the Mariners are still in the mix for Erik Bedard, saying that acquiring a "top-of-the-rotation" starter remains the team's goal.Bavasi added that the team has made its final offers for several pitchers, with speculation that he was referring to Bedard, Johan Santana and Ian Snell. "I don't think you can give a club its terms and its price," Bavasi said. "We can move a premier prospect and numbers [of players], but we're not going to move a number of premium prospects."Ah, nothing like some more talk. The Mariners have the need and the money sign Bedard long-term, plus the prospects. Do we play, "Let's Make A Deal?"And now this came out from the Baltimore Sun, in an article, "Bedard Resigned to Being Traded":Ace pitcher Erik Bedard admitted to...

Mentally far-goner Britney Spears Escapes L.A. with Photographer Pal
2008-01-07 00:33:00
brought by www.thequeerofallmedia.com    Britney Spears has done the impossible since her discharge early Saturday morning from Cedars-Sinai hospital: slipping out of her Beverly Hills home undetected despite the constant vigil of paparazzi and media outside. The pop star, accompanied by Finalpixx photographer Adnan Ghalib, popped into the Daily Grill in Palm Desert around 10 a.m. Sunday. “She seemed in a really good mood, laughing with the guy she was with,” says the restaurant’s manager. Spears shielded herself behind large, dark sunglasses and “had a champagne mimosa to drink,” he said. She stayed at the restaurant about an hour, as Vegas Confidential’s Norm Clarke first reported. Spears, 26, had been keeping company with Ghalib, 35, before her recent meltdown. The two checked into two hotels over the past couple of weeks, but he was not on hand Friday during her stay in Cedars-Sinai.   source

Andy ITGuy – ... What is bad about this for the average person is that there is little in the way of control as to what happens to the data. Rarely, if ever, do you have a say in what the company that has the data will do with it. They may sell it, store it, give it away, use it to “profile” you, make recommendations on ads to push to you, products to sell you, which department of the government to pay you … read more
Brian Roberts A Goner?
2007-12-06 03:01:00
Well, it looks like a fan favorite may be on the go if the Cubs get their way in a report on the Baltimore Sun website by Dan Connolly and Jeff Zrebeic. Brian Roberts.Aside from Erik Bedard, Miguel Tejada and to an extent, Melvin Mora, you have not heard of any talk of other Orioles possibly finding a new home although Andy MacPhail has more or less said, ?everyone is available?.The organization could once again get together with the Cubs for their annual trade, but this time, a Roberts? move could really alienate a fan base who may have no other reason to see the Baltimore Orioles.Read more here at Oriole Magic...
Erik Bedard Finally A Goner?
2007-12-04 21:30:00
A big tip of the hat for Ian of Sox and Dawgs for emailing me this:From ESPN: 2:56 p.m. ET, from Amy Nelson"The Orioles and Dodgers may be close on a deal that will send left-hander Erik Bedard to Los Angeles, a baseball source said. The O's are in need of a center fielder and a closer who can play at the major league level, and the Dogders seem willing to part with outfielder Matt Kemp and reliever Jonathan Broxton, who could come in a close in lieu of Chris Ray, out for the year after Tommy John surgery. "They want Bedard bad," said the source."Like I said, don't be surprised that MacPhail jumped on a chance to get some good youngsters who could contribute immediately. The Dodgers have a deep minor league system and a lot of prospects, so it is only prudent that the Orioles take advantage of it.Now this:From the ESPN Winter meetings blog: The Blue Jays continue to talk with the Orioles about left-hander Erik Bedard. Toronto probably has the young pitching to anchor a deal....

GM's Rick Wagoner getting a 29% INCREASE in salary for 2007, not a 25% CUT
2007-04-30 01:29:00
Many well-respected automotive news websites such as Automotive News and Reuters, reported the eye-catching news of a salary cut for the Chairman and CEO of GM last week. It was reported that Wagoner would receive a 25% cut in his base salary for 2007. It all related to GM's cost-cutting movement to hopefully have a litle heavier pocket as a result. CARSCOOP conducted a simple math equation to see if Wagoner REALLY got a reduction. GM reported that Wagoner's base salary for 2006 was $2.2 million while this year, it dropped 25% to $1.65 million. Here's the turnaround though. While his base salary was $2.2 million, GM agreed to cut his pay by 50% on that same year by a deal made in February of the same year. As a result, his "pay check" was reduced 42% and got $1.28 million as a result. That still doesn't contradict to his base salary of that year. But, you get the idea. Therefore, Wagoner is actually getting 28.9% more than last year's "pay check", even though his contract doesn...
