Locking up the good guys
2008-04-05 07:13:00 Matthew Diaz, habeas corpus rights, Guantanamo | Salon The lawless government of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney prompted Diaz to do something that Joe Margulies, the lawyer of record in Rasul v. Bush, called "illegal but an act of tremendous courage." The powerful men who bred contempt for the law may or may not ever be prosecuted, but if there is justice in the next administration, Matthew Diaz should be pardoned. This is a fascinating article. The Bush administration is ordered by the court to grant Habeas Corpus to prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. The Bush administration simply ignores the order. The naval officer portrayed here simply sends the names of the prisoners to a civil rights lawyer. In return for this act of bravery, the soldier is dishonorably discharged and sent to prison. I think this story is an example, and should perhaps be a rallying cry, of how far we have let our fear take us from freedom. Our fear of terrorists has allowed George Bush to create a government...

FISA Fight: Supporting the good guys
2008-03-06 05:04:00 The “Defense of Democracies” group, those great patriots who are trying to shred the Constitution by running deceptive, fear-mongering ads against Democrats, have just placed another ad buy. They’ve also been using robocalls and push polling to try to define this debate. Their target continues to be the group of freshman who who they consider to ...
The Good Guys Hit the Trifecta - Another Important Terrorist Leader Killed
2008-02-19 23:53:00 First, we nailed Al Qaeda commander Abu al-Laith al-Liby (or al-Libi , depending on your dictionary). Then someone (the Israelis? the Syrians ?) stuck Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh , "the Bin Laden of the 80s," in his well-deserved coffin. Now comes word that the Filippino Army has probably found the remains of Dulmatin, a top Jemaah Islamiah member suspected of planning the 2002 Bali bombings which killed over 200, in a grave in the southernmost tip of the Philippines . Dulmatin was apparently...(read more)
Puppy Love - A Valentine for the Good Guys!
2008-02-14 20:15:00 OUR TROOPS - THE GOOD GUYS!The thing that makes me so mad about the people who abuse our troops and say what killers, monsters, and rapists they are is that they are lying. The best way to disprove any of it are the stories coming out of Iraq about our troops and the way they have treated the animals they’ve encountered. You get two sets of stories. The military has a policy to kill stray animals on sight – due to the possibility of disease. They also do not chauffer pets back and forth to the US. In Iraq ...

Another 6000 Sunnis join the good guys
2007-11-29 00:28:00 More good news for Libs who claim they’re “patriotic” but still ignore America’s success in Iraq HAWIJA, Iraq (AP) - Nearly 6,000 Sunni Arab residents joined a security pact with American Forces Wednesday in what U.S. officers described as a critical step in plugging the remaining escape routes for extremists flushed from former strongholds. The ...
The Good Guys and The Bad Guys
2007-11-04 00:11:00 This is a photo of a Dwarapala statue. "Dwarapala" is derived from Sanskrit language meaning "door guardian". As it name suggests, you will find a lot of this kind of statues in front of temple gates in Bali. Besides temple, you can find this in all traditional building such as the village hall, puri (palace) and houses. At a quick glance, it may look scary, but they are the good characters (or the good guys). Being a visitor, sometimes you don't know which is good guy and which is bad guy because it looks similar. On the big holiday, those statues are wrapped in yellow and white fabric or black and white checkered cloth. The main purpose of this wrapping is to show respect to the spirits that guard the temple. You can see also there are offerings presented for the spirits made of coconut leaves and varieties of flowers. So, next time you are in Bali, remember this is the good guy... Technorati : Bali Temple

Point Scored For The Good Guys!God To Return To Flag Certificates
2007-10-17 15:16:00 When Andrew Larochelle of Ohio purchased a flag for $9 to be flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of his grandfather Marcel LaRochelle, he requested that personal note on the flag certificate read: "In honor of my grandfather Marcel Larochelle, and his dedication and love of God, country and family." However the flag was returned by he the Architect of the Capitol edited for political correctness. The word God was removed.Andrew told Fox news he was surprised God's name had been omitted and couldn't understand why his free speech rights had been infringed. When speaking of his grandfather he said "His faith life is just very vital to him, he is very God-centered and relies on God whenever he needs strength"Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to budge when Republican members of The House rallied against the decision of the unelected official to dictate what was appropriate in regards to personal flag certificates. However it appears that Architect Stephen T Ayers himself has come to rea...
A win for the good guys!
2007-09-26 07:21:00 I just found some interesting info on the pay scale of the CSU (California State University) system pay scale. Professors are the most underpaid profession in our society (well, perhaps grade-school teachers are yet even more underpaid). The route to becoming a tenured professor is arduous. Not only are professors required to teach, they need to publish numerous articles in journals, which commonly reject upwards of 70% of entries, and often write several books throughout their careers. They widen the horizons of society and are, along with all educators, the noblest profession in the land. With my high admiration of educators, I am very glad to see that CSU professors are on their way to getting somewhat just wages. According to the CSU web-site "the average salary for a tenure track faculty member [will increase] from $74,000 to $90,749 and the average salary for a full time, full professor with tenure from $86,000 to $105,465 by the end of the contract period." While all professor...
Al Sadr's freeze and how to tell the good guys.
2007-08-30 17:20:00 From here BAGHDAD (AFP) - The US military on Thursday cautiously welcomed radical Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's freeze on militia activities, including a halt to attacks on US-led forces. "Any time someone in Iraq, especially a leader, wants to use non-violent methods to solve problems and to participate in a meaningful way in the future of Iraq, we encourage this," said US military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Chris Garver. "I pray that Al Sadr is true to his word. I think it could be a great thing for Iraq." After saying those words in my head, I started thinking, "what if everybody "stood down" or just stopped fighting? Wouldn't the world be a better place?" And, then I started thinking a little more. Not all stand downs are created equal and one of the ways to tell who's right or better, at least, in any conflict is by the result a cessation of its war activities would effect. If Al Qaeda stops fighting, people where they're more active will probably have a ...

POLL NUMBERS MOVING TOWARD THE GOOD GUYS ON THE ISSUE OF IRAQ
2007-08-04 14:04:00 Democrats are flailing on the issue of Iraq and, leading up to the report by General Petraeus, they are likely to be hit with a backlash of earthquake proportions. As A Newt One has already shown, a stunning new Zogby poll shows that only 3% of Americans approve of the way the Democrat lead congress is handling Iraq.Yet this is only one of an avalanche of polling data that has the anti-war left in a complete panic as we await the General's report. The numbers still aren't all that great but as Charlie Cooke once observed "the trend is your friend".Let's look at some of the numbers from Rasmussen Reports; The trend is certainly no friend of the Dems right now.A Month Ago, only 19% of Americans said the surge is working, that number is now 25%.Trend- Mission supporters +6In addition, another 26% say that it is too early to tell. A month ago, the number was at 24%.Trend- Mission supporters +2Now, let's look at the overall net numbers.A Month ago;Surge is working/too early to tell- 43...

Good Guys
2007-05-31 21:51:00 Character does matter, I remember the early/mid 90's teams with the drugs (alleged), bleach balloons and cherry bombs. They rushed in the stadium and rushed out, the most you ever got from them was "No Comment". Aside from not being a fan friendly group of players, they were hardly a team. On paper they looked great but they were missing two key element to winning, character and chemistry. Some will say that both are overrated and that teams win on talent alone, but then explain the Cardinals winning last year and the Yankees being 14 games out this year.Omar has not always picked the best player available for the position, but what he has done is picked the best players for the team. This team is full of good guys and it's obvious they enjoy playing with each other. Yes, they have talent but it takes more then that to win and this team has it. What made me start this tirade is that Al from Mets Moments just returned from Florida and posted some great pics of the guys taking the t...

Score One for the Good Guys
2007-03-26 18:48:00 This past week, a ray of hope shined down to the independent filmmaking community. Viacom, as usual, was exercising their infamous “shoot first, ask questions later” strategy and sniping everything on YouTube. Well, someone finally stood up to the new sheriff in town. And yes, there was a showdown and it looks like Viacom ended ...
