Indian Youth Congress Moves To Google Apps
2011-06-17 10:45:00 Indian Youth Congress (IYC), the youth wing of the Indian national Congress has announced that it will move its 28,000 officials and volunteers to Google apps for business. The mail.iyc.in subdomain currently redirects to a page notifying their members about their move to Google’s servers. Their email services were earlier handled by sify, evident from this page. Their move to Google apps will give them additional services like calendar and docs which weren’t available in Sify mail. The IYC plans to use Google Apps extensively to communicate and report from all over India. They seems to be betting big on Google services, in addition to mail they will also be integrating their propriety applications- with Google apps and soon be hosting them on Google App Engine. To do so, we synchronized our RegOnline attendee database with our Salesforce.com instance, exported an attendee list from Salesforce.com into a .csv file, imported the file in Google Spreadsheet, randomly generated temporary passwords using the RANDBETWEEN() function, exported the updated attendee list into another .csv file, and created the accounts in Google Apps using the bulk upload function (very handy). Once all the accounts had been created, we created security tokens for each and every one of them to be used by the Presdo scheduling application. The final step was to send an email to every attendee with their login and password. 2008-01-22 12:53:00 Google Apps for Clearwire Posted by samc on January 16th, 2008 Clearwire announced a partnership with Google on Tuesday that would incorporate the search giant’s applications, including Mail, Calendar and Talk into Clearwire’s wireless Web platform. Under the agreement, Google will power some of the Web infrastructure that Clearwire customers will use, while Clearwire will control the look and feel of the interface. Clearwire has some 350,000 users so far, and expects to expand aggressively in 2008 with Mobile WiMAX implementations in dozens of cities. Google has a virtually identical deal in place with Sprint.
