This Washington Post Blog On RG3 Is Quality Google Content?
2011-12-11 19:36:00
Ok, there’s a lot of talk about “quality content” being important for Google News. The problem I’ve always had with that is quality is in the eye of the beholder. To me, quality content has over 200 words, and great information in the text. And for some time, Google News has elevated content that met (Read More...)
+1 Content Now On Google News: Care To Read What Your Friends Liked?
2011-11-25 08:53:00
Google News now has additional support from Google+ with the articles that Google+ users read & vote using the +1 button. Google is striving hard to compete with the Facebook’s ‘Like’ Button, but now the war is on the Google News Front. This endeavor has brought forward opportunity for things that have been +1′d by a Gmail contact or someone from a Google+ circle to show up in the Spotlight Section of Google News. Earlier, Google News had been simply showing users the +1 button next to articles to let users up-vote or recommend particular items. Now, with the addition of today’s features, signed-in Google+ users will be able to see the articles their friends have been reading and sharing, as well. So basically the +1 button has found a purpose. Each user’s profile picture will be visible next to the headline in question. Nothing forced. One might call it a personalized news experience based on what our friends are sharing and liking on social networks like Facebook ...

Google News Still Keeping Real Bloggers Out
2011-01-18 09:47:00
The Italian authorities didn't know what to look for, and so let Google News off the hook by ending their investigation of anti-trust violations. It seems some news sites that opted not to be in Google News were claimed to have been site-delisted by Google entirely. Google News admitted some problems and promised to change their ways. The questions are, how and will that apply to America? Google News is still playing favorites with The Associated Press, and kicking out bloggers from Google News. Something must be done. Stay tuned.

Google News Tips: Cleanliness, Explicit Dates & Image Formatting
2009-02-16 04:28:00
We know some of you write great news articles on your business and industry for your site, but there is just one problem - trying to get Google to index your site for your news can be tricky. But news publishers take note, Google have released 8 tips which will help Google News better crawl your site. These tips are some of the more frequent pieces of advice they dish out. So although some might sound familiar, it's always helpful to have a refresher. Here they are:1. Keep the article body cleanIf your article body is broken up by tags, ads, sidebars or other non-article content, we may not be able to detect the actual article body, and reject your article as a result.2. Make sure article URLs are permanent and uniqueIf you reuse article URLs, our system may have difficulty crawling and categorizing your stories. In addition, make sure your article URLs have at least three digits that don't resemble a year (for example, 5232 is ok, but 2008 is not.)3. Take advantage of stock tickers...
Google News Blurb of the Day!
2009-02-05 15:34:00
This is to make up for yesterdays lack of a blurb.I searched NBA into Google News, switched to stories within the last hour. I got a story about the Nation Beef Association! Apparently beef farmers are getting a double boost! So, who's your favorite beef farmer? Farmer Bryant, farmer James? Any younger up and coming beef farmers?
Google News Blurb of The Day!
2009-02-03 01:06:00
Todays headline that caught my eye from Google News was about Kevin McHale. After a five year absence, a Timberwolves head coach received a coach of the month award! Nice, but kind of bitter sweet: everyone knows it won't last. They have lost to the Lakers and Cavs easily; the odds are against them. But, I have to give them credit. Foye has been better, the whole team is a bit healthier and they are improving.Too bad they'll still be in the lottery for a couple years.

Announcement: BitsBlog adds Google News
2008-04-13 20:04:00
I’ve added another feed today, and it’s a biggie; It’s the news feed from Google, and from the news services it in turn subscribes to… all updated in real time. Strictly headlines at the moment, that you can click through to get the current stories of the day. I’m working on getting the listing to be more inclusive, but this is a huge start. The BitsBlog newsroom is chocked full of news feeds, from sources all over the world, and all in real time. When the various news services update, we get it here, just as fast. Spend a moment today to look around in the BitsBlog newsroom. We think you’ll be surprised at the depth. The button is at the top of this page, just under the header. And comments, as always, are welcomed in feedback. Technorati Tags: BitsBlog, google news

Google Publishes Lies In Google News (FACT with PROOF)
2008-03-19 22:36:00
For a long time now, Google has monitored and published the "Spoof" in Google News. This site always reports rumors / false facts or down right lies.If this is what it takes to get to Google News, I will be more than happy to "help them out".As seen above, today the "Spoof" is reporting that Harry Potters new movie will be in 67 parts. Purely rubbish. It will be in 2 parts. But, Google publishes this rubbish in its news ? More Lies ? Scams ? What possible good could come of this ?ALL of the articles the spoof publishes are %100 lies or rubbish. Their famous quote is : " The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious."They admit it.Not all stories are "Obviously Lies", some are lead you on until you hit the end of the story. I must admit that when I am reading something "Fictitious" when I think it is News really burns my ass, and is a pure waste of time.OS9USER - Lets hope they do something about this. I will continue to write and complain about this each day unt...

Well, its an add on for your browser that allows you to launch some web based applications while your device is offline. These apps have to be written to take advantage of Gears, but the idea seems very promising. Imagine being able to check your bank account balances with or without a connection to the internet. How soon before we see a version for other platforms such as RIM, Symbian and Apple's iPhone? Stay tuned for an update on Gears once we've had a chance to install it and try a few of the apps available for it.AndroidGuys | The most trusted site for Google Android news and opinion.

Google to Use Balloons for Wireless Signal?
2008-02-20 23:08:00
Here's a fun one to think about. What's cheaper than building a boat-load of cell towers to spread signal? How about putting balloons about 20 miles up in the sky? Somewhere between tower-based radios and satellite signals, a box can be attached to a 'space balloon' that has components acting as a radio tower. Signal could be sent out over thousands of square miles without the worry of mountains, trees, and ridiculously tall people. So why bring this up? Read on. Google is considering a contract with Space Data, a company that launches 10 balloons a day in the southern parts of the US. Helping truckers and oil companies stay in touch, one of their balloons could replace the need for 40 cell towers. And if a contract with them doesn't appear to be in the stars, perhaps Google will just outright buy them. According to one source, Google is pondering both options right now. And not surprisingly, neither company wanted to comment on the matter. Check back for more on thi...
