2008-01-28 22:03:00 Last night I heard the news that the man whom I revere as a Prophet of God died at age 97. President Gordon B. Hinckley has been the President of my Church for the past 13 years and prior to that served for 14 years in the First Presidency. My church is a non-paid ministry... no person, male or female is paid any money for their church services and callings. President Hinckley served for more than 77 years in this church and did not receive one penny for it. I just think that is so cool... it inspires me. Of course, this is just one example of the many things that inspires me about him. Oh, how I will miss him. Words cannot express the love, respect and admiration I have for that man. He has made such a positive and profound impact on my life. Hinckley was ordained the 15th president of the Mormon Church in March 1995 after then-President Howard Hunter, 87, died from the effects of prostate cancer just nine months into his term, the shortest in church history.
