Brazilian Grand Prix: Suspense held racing fans on the edge of their seats
2008-11-02 20:04:00 The final race of this exciting 2008 Formula One season was held today at Interlagos, Brazil and the drivers championship was still in the balance between Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren. For Lewis Hamilton, a fifth place was good enough to be declared world champion. For Felipe Massa, a victory combined with a 6th or worse finish for the British driver was needed. Massa who started from the pole position completed his part of the task as he led this race from start to finish. The race started under rainy conditions, shifted to dry conditions and finished once again under rainy conditions for the last six laps of the race. The final portion of the race gave the racing fans something to remember. As Massa crossed the finish line, his rival had given up the fifth place to Sebastian Vettel and was in sixth place, desperatly driving to gain back his fifth position. With a couple of laps to go, all eyes were on Lewis Hamilton who was struggling, holding on to the fifth...

China Grand Prix: Hamilton dominates and leads by 7.
2008-10-19 15:59:00 Starting from the pole at the Chinese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton did not commit any major mistake and led the race in it's entirety. This is the fifth victory of the season for the McLaren driver. Felipe Massa in his Ferrari finished in second place and stayed in the hunt for the last event of the season. Kimi Raikkonen completed the podium. Now with only a single event to go in this 2008 season, Hamilton's lead over Felipe Massa has increased to seven points. For Felipe Massa, a victory in Brazil combined with a 6th place or worse for Lewis Hamilton is the only way he can still win the drivers championship. The championship is for Hamilton to lose.Fernando Alonso continued his great end of season with his 4th place. We can expect great things from Renault during the next season. The car is more and more competitive as this 2008 season unfolded and could be a serious contender come next season. Will we crown Lewis Hamilton in Brazil? Or will we re-live the spectacular ending of 2007?...

Japan Grand Prix: Alonso wins a second race in a row.
2008-10-12 16:11:00 After winning his first race of the season in Singapore, Fernando Alonso repeated and finished in first place of the Japan Grand Prix.Besides the fact that Renault has shown that they are back to the front of the pack after a difficult start of season, all eyes were on the battle for the drivers championship between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa.Hamilton sabotaged his race at the very first corner. Once the red lights extinguished, the McLaren driver pointed the nose of his car inside of the Ferrari driven by Kimi Raikkonen and locked his wheels, forcing Raikkonen to roll outside of the track. This loss of control from Hamilton forced the race officials to penalize him sending Hamilton way back. The British driver will finish the race out of the points in 12th place. As for Felipe Massa, he collided with Lewis Hamilton a few corners after the start and was also forced to the back of the pack. Massa will end up in 8th place and will only gather a single point. The race for the driver...

IFBB 2008 Romanian PRO Grand Prix
Vediamoli subito dunque: 1. Khalid ALMOHSINAWI, Netherlands 2. Marcos CHACON, Spain 3. Hanni GLANVILLE, United Kingdom 4. Dexter JACKSON, USA 5. Martin KJELLSTROM, Sweden 6. Cesar MENDIBLE, Venezuela 7. Migger MILAZZO, Germany 8. Manfred PETAUTSCHNIG, Austria 9. Montreal loses the Formula One Grand Prix.
2008-10-09 16:59:00 As we were remembering and celebrating the first Formula One victory of Gilles Villeneuve thirty years ago this week, a bombshell hitted the organization led by Normand Legault.Bernie Ecclestone unveiled a version of the 2009 calendar this week and the Canadian Grand Prix is not on the list. The 2009 calendar was supposed to contain a total of 19 races but is now only showing 18. The Canadian Grand Prix is nowhere to be found on the list.In reaction to this fact yesterday, Normand Legault, the only remaining private Formula One race promoter, announced that he and his company (Grand Prix du Canada) are retiring themselves and will not negotiate for any future Formula One Grand Prix to be held in Montreal. The amount of money asked by Bernie Ecclestone to run again in Montreal is too much for Legault and his company. In a word, the Canadian Grand Prix is officially dead. The only way that another Formula One race could be held on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit is through a negotiation ...

Singapore Grand Prix: Ferrari hosed down.
2008-09-28 15:34:00 Two separate incidents changed the face of the Singapore Grand Prix today. Fernando Alonso who took the start from the 15th position was on a single stop strategy and the combination of the incidents and his strategy paid off for him.Nelson Piquet Jr sent his Renault into a wall in the early stages of the race which forced the race officials to send the pace car. While the rest of the pack was still forming, Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica were forced to stop to get fuel while the pit lane was still closed. Both pilots were penalized with a stop and go.From the pole position, Felipe Massa was still leading when came the time to enter the pits. A major mistake from Ferrari sent Massa away while the fuel hose was still attached to the car. Massa ripped the hose from the tank and dragged it into the pit lane. The crew members were forced to run the entire lenght of the pit lane to get the hose off Massa's car. A major mistake that will impact his drivers championship race with Lewis Ha...

Singapore Grand Prix: Historic and spectacular.
2008-09-27 17:05:00 Bernie Ecclestone isn't one of my all-time favorite person. The way he rules his Formula One circus can be debated on many fronts. But I have to admit today after watching the qualifying session that his daring idea of running a race under the spotlights during the night will be a total success once the weekend is over. The images coming from Singapore are simply spectacular and memorable. The lighting for the pilots is safe and adequate and is giving the fans something to cheer about. The city's infrastructure around the circuit is giving us some great pictures. The stands all around the circuit were filled to capacity for this qualifying session and a record television attendance is expected. The success of the event is undeniable. The experience will be repeated for next season. As for the qualifying session itself, Felipe Massa was once again the fastest of the group. His Ferrari was just over a half a second faster than Lewis Hamilton's McLaren. Hamilton almost missed Q3 when he...

2010 US Grand Prix? Maybe
2008-09-19 07:01:00 We've heard continuing rumors of F1 returning to the US for a couple of years, and it's clear that the manufacturers, Honda in particular, are hot to race in their largest single market. Here on the East Coast, Watkins Glen gets mentioned, although Indy's Tony George has openly stated he'd lov
Italian Grand Prix: A superstar is born.
2008-09-14 16:20:00 Under rainy conditions this weekend, the Italian Grand Prix was the theatre of the first career Formula One victory of Sebastian Vettel. After setting a new record yesterday as being the youngest driver in F1 history to start from the pole position, the German pilot brought his Toro Rosso in first place today. At twenty years old, Vettel sets another F1 record as being the youngest driver to win a Formula One Grand Prix.Fernando Alonso was holding the record of being youngest pilot to register a victory before today's race. The amazing fact about Vettel's win is that it was accomplished with a very ordinary race car. At the same time, the Toro Rosso team also gets it's first taste at victory.Heikki Kovalainen and Robert Kubica completed today's podium. Kubica's performance is also worth of mention as he took the start from the 11th place. A perfect pit stop strategy allowed Kubica to wear the right type of tires at the right time.As for the points leaders, they had to race for t...

Belgium Grand Prix: Spectacular until the end.
2008-09-07 15:36:00 The rain appeared during the final two laps of the race and gave the fans the most exciting finish of the season today at the Belgium Grand Prix.Lewis Hamilton had a lot of ground to make up on Kimi Raikkonen after his second and final pit stop. Raikkonen was in control and looked like he was untouchable. But the British driver worked hard and managed to close the gap with the Ferrari driver with only a handful of laps to go.The rain appeared during the last couple of laps and complicated the task for the drivers on the track. The conditions deteriorated quickly and the cars who were still on slick tires at that point were slipping all over the place. The battle between Raikkonen and Hamilton during the final laps was epic. Both cars exchanged the lead twice due to the slippery conditions as both of them slipped and spun virtually at every corner. Kimi Raikkonen finally made a fatal mistake and spun his Ferrari into the wall during the final lap of the race, handing out the victory t...

Belgium Grand Prix: The points leader on pole.
2008-09-06 23:02:00 The Belgium Grand Prix will be run tomorrow and the points leader, Lewis Hamilton, will start from the pole position on board of his McLaren-Mercedes.His closest opponent in the points race, Felipe Massa, will start from the second place. The Ferrari driven by Massa is one third of a second behind Hamilton. As for the second row, McLaren and Ferrari are there once again. Heikki Kovalainen edged the defending champion, Kimi Raikkonen by less than two tenths of a second. We have a BMW-Sauber in fifth place but this time it was not Robert Kubica's car. Nick Heidfeld was faster than Kubica this time. Kubica only managed to place in eight place on the starting grid. As for the rest of the top ten, we can mention that both Toro Rosso cars managed to place in the top ten.Belgium Grand Prix top ten on the grid:Pole: Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) 1:47.3382-Felipe Massa (Ferrari) 1:47.6783-Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) 1:47.8154-Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) 1:47.9925-Nick Heidfeld (BMW-Sauber) 1:48.3156...

European Grand Prix: Massa re-launches the championship.
2008-08-24 15:32:00 The Formula One circus was in Valencia for the first time in it's history and Felipe Massa in his Ferrari won in a little bit of controversy. The Brazilian driver did commit a mistake when he left his stall after his final stop. He almost collided with Adrian Sutil in the pit lane and this event will be reviewed by the officials. If the result holds, the race for the title will really be in the balance. The second place for Lewis Hamilton today allowed him to stay in front but the lead could be reduced to a mere 6 points over Massa.Starting from the third position on the grid, Robert Kubica finished in third place and now stands only two points behind Kimi Raikkonen who had to retire today because of another blown engine for Ferrari. This is already the fourth engine failure for the Scuderia this season, very uncharacteristic for the team. Just before the engine failure, Raikkonen ran over one of his teammate in the pitlane during his final pit stop. Another race to forget for the de...

European Grand Prix: Massa on pole.
2008-08-23 15:35:00 The European Grand Prix was presented for the first time in Valencia, Spain. There is no previous data for anyone and it should level the field for this weekend. The drivers and the teams are exploring new grounds this weekend.Felipe Massa finished the qualifying session with the best time and will start from the pole position tomorrow. It is a first pole for Ferrari since the French Grand Prix. But there is no clear domination from any team as the drivers looks to be randomly positionned on the starting grid.Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren will start from the second position while Robert Kubica in the BMW-Sauber will go from the third place. The two Toro Rosso cars are having a good weekend this far as they both placed in the top ten on the grid. The young phenom, Sebastian Vettel, will start from the sixth place while the rookie Sebastien Bourdais took the tenth spot on the grid.European Grand Prix starting grid:Pole: Felipe Massa (Ferrari) 1:38.9892-Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) 1:39.199...

Montreal Grand Prix: A race full of surprises.
2008-06-08 22:52:00 Historically, the Canadian Grand Prix is the theatre of exceptional performances and has a lot of surprises in store. Today's edition was no different. The 30th Canadian Grand Prix was the occasion for the BMW-Sauber to shine. Not only Robert Kubica finished in first place for the first time in his career but Nick Heidfeld who was starting from the eight spot finished in second place. A pleasant and unexpected one-two finish for the team who finishes in first place for a first time also. The main incident of the race came at the 19th lap when the Force India of Adrian Sutil stalled and was forced to retire. The safety car was sent out on the track and the leaders decided to pit in. Lewis Hamilton who was starting from the pole position came out of the pits after his service behind Robert Kubica and Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton committed a fatal mistake when he came out of the pitlane. He did not see the red light and the stalled Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen and rammed him. Both drivers had ...

Montreal Grand Prix: Hamilton on pole.
2008-06-08 01:09:00 Today at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit of Ile Notre-Dame, the qualifying session of the Canadian Grand Prix was presented. The vast majority of the pilots were deceived by the track conditions as the asphalt was peeling off the track at three different locations. Lewis Hamilton did manage to work with the poor track conditions to qualify his McLaren-Mercedes on pole position. Hamilton has registered his first F1 victory in career on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit last season and will try to repeat this year.As for the rest of the field, Robert Kubica placed his BMW-Sauber on the first row. Kubica is remembered in Montreal for his spectacular crash last year. Fernando Alonso did very well in his Renault and will start fourth. Rumor of a 3 Driver Swap Post Canadian Grand Prix
2008-06-03 23:44:00 How’s this for a rumor. Motorsport Aktuell of Switzerland has published what is so far a rumor suggesting a 3 driver swap is on the horizon following the Canadian Grand Prix. What they say is that the poor performing Nelson Piquet Jr. will be replaced at Renault with David Coulthard. Piquet Jr would then replace Sebastian Vettel at Toro Rosso who would then take David Coulthard’s vacant seat at Red Bull. The reasons? Piquet Jr would be allowed to develop as an F1 driver at Toro Rosso, more or less out of the pressure of a big team like Renault and Sebastian Vettel who has been linked to Red Bull all season would remain at Red Bull. This would be the arrangement for the rest of this season and for 2009. At the end of this season, David Coulthard would drift into his impending retirement. Now this sounds a little crazy especially in mid season, but rumor or not, it makes some sense. Nelson Piquet is going nowhere fast with Renault. His confidence may be at an all...

Property Grand Prix - Monaco
2008-05-28 09:33:00 Monaco proved to be another thriller of a Formula # 1 race this year with plenty of action and unexpected twists and turns. The team with the best judgment calls won fair and square this year with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen suffering a wheel location problem before the start which resulted in a drive through penalty during the race followed by a loss of control in the tunnel which took his nose off. This cost him dearly as he lost his championship lead to Brit Lewis Hamilton who now leads by 3 points over Raikkonen.Hamilton won Monaco thanks to the decision by the team to make it a one stop race which proved the right thing to do. Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes)Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber)Felipe Massa (Ferrari) Ferrari still leads the McLaren-Mercedes team by 16 points at this stage but tables can quickly turn and maybe the lucky streak has run dry now for the red team. Time will tell when Canada heats up on the 8th of June next month. Mingle with high society While spectators r...
Which was the most entertaining race to watch…Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500
2008-05-28 05:26:00 What a sight for racing fans to watch this past weekend and whether you are a Formula 1 fan, an open wheel fan, a NASCAR fan or a like me a huge Motorsports fan that mainly enjoys watching NASCAR whether it’s on television or at the racetrack in the grandstands or on pit road, this weekend was for you, a triple header day that had fans logging the entire day in front of the TV set. So would my predictions came true, well we start he at 8am on the East Coast (at least my DVR started at this time, I for one didn’t as I had been sick due to bad food since last Thursday night). In Formula 1, the Monaco Grand Prix is the superbowl, just like the Daytona 500 is in NASCAR, I don’t know what it is, but even for a person who has since walked from Formula 1, it still draws me in and for this year’s Monaco GP, despite the lack of passing for the lead with only 3 lead changes, this was a good one. Normally F1 races are mostly parades with little passing throughout the field, however when...

Monaco Grand Prix: Hamilton wins, Ferrari slips.
2008-05-25 16:15:00 The Monaco Grand Prix was run today under rainy conditions and those conditions interfered with the usual course of the event. The track was very slippery and many drivers lost control of their cars during the race.Heikki Kovalainen experienced a first failure during the pace lap. His car was stuck on the grid and he had to begin the race from pit road. Lewis Hamilton, starting third, managed to pass Kimi Raikkonen on the start. But Hamilton touched the railing only a few laps later and punctured a tire. He had to go thru pit lane to change the tire.Fernando Alonso also touched the rail while David Coulthard and Sebastien Bourdais touched and were both forced to retire. The incident brought the safety car on the track, saving Lewis Hamilton from a disastrous track position.Kimi Raikkonen then suffered a drive thru sanction. Ferrari installed Raikkonen's tires with under three minute to go to the start of the race which constitutes a rule violation. Ferrari's troubles continued onl...

Monaco Grand Prix: Ferrari takes the first row.
2008-05-24 15:45:00 The qualifying session of the Monaco Grand Prix has just ended today and both Ferrari drivers, who have been a dominating force for the last few races already, have registered the two fastest times. The constructors championship standings has been respected during this qualifying session. Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari took the first two positions on the grid while the McLaren-Mercedes cars of Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen placed on the second row. The BMW-Sauber of Robert Kubica placed fifth. The biggest surprize came from Nick Heidfeld who is starting to become a deception for his team this season. His qualifying performances and starting positions are costing the BMW-Sauber team some very precious points. Today, Heidfeld placed his car at the 13th place on the grid and a very difficult task awaits him tomorrow for the race.David Coulthard registered the tenth best time but could not participate to the last part of the qualifying session.
