Gratitude?
2012-01-02 23:49:00
There have been roughly half a bazillion articles posted across the internet over the last few days about New Year’s resolutions, goals for 2012, accomplishments in 2011, blah blah blah. I’ve never been a big fan of making resolutions. It seems if you want to resolve to do something, you should just do it. Why ...Originally posted on Phoenix Real Estate Guy. On Gratitude and Other Things
2011-05-31 15:11:00
365 days.  365 blog entries.  1,095 things to be grateful for.  And this is what I've learned ~ 1.  I think, sometimes, I forget to thank the busboy.  But, the waiter, the waitress, the hostess, the coat check person, the cab driver, the bus driver, the doorman, the guy who holds the elevator? I'm a thanking machine.  But, it seems like the plates and the bread basket and the empty glasses just disappear all on their own.  Someone took our plates?  I was busy talking.  I didn't even notice. Yes, that's how riveting my dinner conversation is.  (Stop laughing.) 2. Surround yourself with cheerleaders.  Cut out anyone who doubts you or laughs at your dreams.  Surround yourself with people who...

Cafe Gratitude
2011-01-01 00:00:00
Cafe Gratitude is located at 1730 Shattuck Avenue (near Virginia) in Berkeley. There are two other locations in San Francisco and the newest restaurant is in San Rafael. The phone number for all four restaurants is 415-824-4652, including the Berkeley location. This is a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant. It's also a raw food restaurant. If you're not familiar with raw food, don't let this scare you off. You probably wouldn't know the food is "raw" if someone hadn't told you. Everything is really delicious (my favorite is the lasagna). Even my meat-eating friends like this place. It's a little pricey for a lunch location, but if you take into consideration all the work that goes into making something raw and so tasty, then you realize it's not so expensive. And you know that what you're eating doesn't only taste good, but is good for you.You have to be willing to share your table with strangers (although this doesn't always happen) and usually very cheery servers that will a...
Gratitude - sometimes the hardest attitude ...
2009-12-24 23:47:00
Ho, ho, ho, and all that.  Being out of work and broke is never fun, but it especially weighs on one during The Holidays.  As a Father (and supposed "bread winner"), it's particularly hard to avoid feelings that one is a failure, and "destroying the kids' lives" by one's inability to land a job.  If one's history involves many years of high-salary positions, it's likewise likely to find it depressing to have primarily "dollar store" gifts under the tree. However, this sort of negativity is never useful.  Self-pity is the enemy of activity, and one needs to keep actively searching for that job (as noted in many of the articles linked from this space in the past few weeks, even, or...
Gratitude this holiday season
2009-11-25 19:37:00
I like how the start of the Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa/Wint-er Solstice/Shop Till You Drop season begins with Thanksgiving. Yes, I’m aware of the damage done to our Native Americans and all the horrors our European forefathers brought to this nation including, but not limited to, smallpox, slavery, and partially hydrogenated oils. However. I choose (and it is a conscious ...
Gratitude for what and to whom ? Sathya Sai Baba?

“Ever be grateful even for a small help. Do not be ungrateful. Ingratitude is utter cruelty.” (Sathya Sai Baba – in a discourse published in Sanathana Sarathi June 2002, p. 166-7) Further comments on the deceptive ‘divine’ discourse 6/5/2000: For the n’th time, one must ask what is wrong with Sathya Sai Baba’s sense of proportion ...

Practicing Gratitude Everyday - How Do We Do So
2009-02-11 21:00:00

Today’s Gratitude – Be Grateful For Your Spouse
2008-12-04 14:57:00
Today’s Gratitude Express gratitude to your spouse, or whoever that special person is in your life is.  Don’t just be grateful, let them know that they’re appreciated.  Sometimes we tend to take advantage of having that special someone in our life, that person who’s always by our side and goes out of their way to make sure we’re alright. Throughout the day today, every time this person extends their kindness to you, see it as if a stranger just did this.  How would react if a stranger went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable?  In many instances, we’re probably more likely to express more gratitude to a stranger for their kindness, rather than our other half, it’s actually kind of sad. So express your gratitude to him or her to the fullest extent and let that gratitude grow with each act of kindness. Be grateful that somebody loves you!
A Cornucopia of Gratitude
2008-11-30 19:24:00
-By Frank Salvato As we enter the holiday season we will begin to hear a lot about kindness and appreciation. Sure, there will be the mental midgets who need to take issue with holiday displays and transmitted sentiments (we should really pity their stunted intellect as they celebrate their generic event) but for the most part ...
Holidays at the Cafe ~ Day of Gratitude
2008-11-27 06:02:00
H ow can I even begin sharing all the things I am thankful for?   Right at the top is my salvation and knowing I am a child of the King, purified by His blood, and have a room in heaven waiting for me.  Could I ask for more?  I am so thankful for my husband of 23 years, that we have made it through the roughest valleys and still love each other.  I am thankful for a dozen children I am so blessed with, even though two of these will not be joining at our Thanksgiving table but feast at His table.  I look at the ten blessings filling our home every day, with laughter, squablings, loud music, dirty clothes, dress-up clothes, schoolbooks, diligent journal writers, artists, never filled stomachs asking what there is to eat moments after a large meal, Bible readers and verse memorizers.  Life is full in our home.  For this too, I am I am filled with gratitude. But as I write this, I know there are hurting hearts.  Personally, I have several friends who have or are going through de...
The Gratitude Of Hypocrites
2008-10-01 05:06:00
They first rejoice, and are elevated with the fact that they are made much of by God; and then on that ground, God seems in a sort, lovely to them.  They are pleased in the highest degree, in hearing how much God and Christ make of them.  So that their joy is really a joy ...
Gratitude for the School of Hard Knocks
2008-09-06 10:14:00
Life is rough. Honestly. That's a relative statement, of course. But this is a fallen world, and people abuse each other here. I mentioned growing up in a spiritually abusive church (and ironically, meeting God there). My experience as a child has led me to realize that spiritual health comes in shades of gray, and not black and white. Many people prefer black and white. It's easier to say, "That's of the devil" and "That's the real move of God." But the reality, in my opinion, is that both God and the devil can be active in the same situation. And that's called mixture. So, on the one hand, I'm not willing to so glibly write a bunch of people off, even when there is mixture and problems in the foundations of movements or organizations. God took my parents out of a convoluted movement (the shepherding movement), he took me out of a convoluted movement (the charismatic movement)... He can take others out too, and He has been doing so. Hence, all the post-charismatics. :) But, t...
McCain?s Speech & His Sense of Gratitude

A Post of Gratitude
2008-05-31 16:52:00
I am really thankful to all my loving blogger friends who commented on my post "My Life as of Today." It was very heartwarming to receive 31 comments of prayers, concerns, and advices. I may have not posted so much nor grab some opps but I was resting my mind and my body. I was reading all of your comments over and over again just to come up with a decision that I might not regret later. Aside from that, I was also pondering all the thoughts inside my mind, my heart and my beliefs. I needed to decide and I needed to be careful.By God?s grace, my heart and my mind came up with a decision. Yes! I am still leaving Bacolod on June 3, 2008. We have our tickets now and it?s no turning back. I am leaving not to be separated with my husband in a marital way but just to take time to rest from all the pains and time for my hubby to recuperate from his weaknesses. I don?t deny the fact that sometimes I may be stupid for always giving him a chance but I still do love him. I love my kids and I l...
Learning Lessons - The Easier ?Hard? Way

It is no real issue if you consider you've actually done everything to learn a lesson from a mistaken or erroneous action. The main thing is learning the lesson and then moving on. Don't worry; if you haven't in fact learned the lesson properly, you'll no doubt get another chance -- life seems to work out that way!

My family. I love saying that.
2008-05-19 03:42:00
I love them so much that just looking at this picture makes me burst into tears while simultaneously feeling like the corners of my mouth are going to split wide open up to my ears from smiling so much.It should be noted that about an hour after this picture was taken, Bird had the biggest diaper blow out to date all over his daddy's good shirt and pants. Of course.

Had to change the title of this one
2008-05-16 20:05:00
This summer, we will head to the beach with Whymommy and her family. For a celebration. Not a goodbye. I cannot put into words how thankful I am for that.Susan has always been my "see it from a different perspective" friend. The friend who makes me think outside of my box.In high school, my box was very very tiny, so that wasn't a hard thing. One foot in either direction had me reeling outside of my box. She was very patient with my tiny little private school mind.Over the years, we have talked, traveled, cried (but not much because we are oh so strong women who really need to get more comfortable with a tissue), laughed, and learned together. She lasted in the learning part far past I did. I bored easily with school, and she tackled it with a vengeance. She was on the same trip to Mexico which generated the most embarrassing story of my entire life. And she still loves me. I don't know why.She read my angst filled, totally rhyming poetry in high school. And she still loves me.She ...
Gratitude
2008-05-14 02:40:00
I apologize if you haven't seen anything new from me about kitchens or baths for a while.Life has been ridiculously busy, chaotic, new, fun, exciting, challenging, enlightening, and continues to be more so everyday. This post is really simple and short. It is about gratitude for the people who enter into my life. As I reach out to people in my community I learn more about myself. Maybe it's old age, maybe the cavalier attitude of youth has shed it's shell on me, but whatever it is, I am grateful.

“We consider enjoyment to have two primary components; appreciation and gratitude. To fully enjoy something, we must first appreciate it, like it, savor it. Power Of Gratitude
2008-04-20 12:13:00
Psalm 69:30: I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. Everyone knows how to be grateful yet not everyone made gratitude to be part of their living even though they are aware about the power of gratitude. Those who have made gratitude to be part of their nature, will always be in the state of experiencing joy. Gratitude can lead to happiness, because happiness is a state of being. You can only feel happy if you choose to be happy. Happiness is not about wanting the things that you want. Happiness is about wanting the things that you have. You can do that easily if you start being grateful for things that you have possessed in your life. If you ever feel not good, remind yourself that you are part of the Universe and be grateful for every circumstance that arises to you. It is there to lead you to something better or something you been wanting. You do not know, anything can take place right on the next moment of your life. Your life will ...

Of Gratitude Lists...............
2008-04-02 11:12:00
I have a friend who mentioned to me a while back that although there are aspects of my personality that she does not like, she likes the way that I relate to cats and what I do for cats in general.   Last night we had a chat and I was telling her how I cannot pull myself out of this negativity I feel about my job and for the first time in my life I just CANNOT see the positive.   Anyway, to cut a long story short - I woke up this morning and realized that this is one of the aspects of my personality that she more than likely does not like. I am not practicing what I preach with regards to positive thinking. And no matter what my reasons are I need to get my ass in gear and JUST DO IT!   So, today is the beginning of my new life. I have decided to stick my job out and see the positive.   In this vein, my Gratitude List for today reads as follows:   I am grateful that I have a well paying job when many out there do not.   I am grateful that my job ...
