Cement, Sand and Gravel Mixing Problems

I'm in a study now of making concrete beams. the 1:2:3 , 1:2:43 and 1:3:6 mixing cant make the beams successful to reach the desired strength. my main questionis "what is the reaso

Remembering Mike Gravel
2008-05-28 09:53:00
Mike Gravel has the dubious honor of having failed to win the nomination of not one but two political parties this year. After he failed to win the Democratic nomination he also ran for the Libertarian Party nomination. Some, including many Libertarian Party members and candidates, did find it strange that a non-libertarian was running ...
The Infamous ?Obama Girl? and Mike Gravel

I think I just may love this man. Shh, don’t tell my boyfriend. Seriously, though, to come across a politician that is so likable and all around seems like one of the nicest men you can meet; not to mention that his ideas for the presidency blow most of the other ideas out of the ...

Crazy for Liberty's interview with Mike Gravel
2008-04-16 22:14:00
This past Sunday Garrett Hayes and myself interviewed Mike Gravel. We talked about gun rights ,nuclear power, fair tax and democracy. After the interview I am now less likely to vote for Mike Gravel in any form. I thought it would be nice to have him on the ticket with Barr or someone else (maybe Ruwart or Phillies) but after the interview i know say NO. I am not sure what you guys think of democracy. I think it sucks. It is two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner, it is also 3 white farmers and a black guy voting on who is going to pick the cotton. Mike Gravel loves democracy and democracy is dangerous. At this point I would like a Bob Barr /Ruwart ticket but I could live with a Ruwart/ Phillies ticket. I do believe the party will get more coverage with Barr as the front man. I also believe Ruwart would get more interviews as the VP candidate behind Barr than if she was the front man. We would be more likely to have her views get out because the buz...

2008-04-10 00:19:00
Here is a questionnaire which I submitted to all of the Libertarian candidates for president for whom I have email addresses at the end of December, to Mary Ruwart several days ago and to Michael Badnarik today after I watched him as the expert questioner during the Pennsylvania/New Jersey LP Convention Debate among nine Libertarian candidates for president. I added Question 40. Do you support Restore 04? (see www.restore04.com) at the beginning of January. As of now, Steve Kubby, Christine Smith and Barry Hess have endorsed Restore 04. So far Jim Burns, Alden Link and George Phillies have answered the questionnaire, partially in Dr. Phillies' case. Question 1 is probably no longer relevant. However, I believe that the remainder of this questionnaire covers most issues which should arise during the campaign. LIBERTARIAN PRESIDENTIAL QUESTIONNAIRE 1. If Ron Paul receives the Republican or other alternate party nomination, do you promis...

Sand and Gravel Safety
2008-04-03 15:37:00
Working in sand and gravel pits can be so dangerous, the hazards are many, and being alert is probably the most important safety tip. There is so much traffic coming and going, flying sand and rocks, water, just to name a few. It?s important to dress properly for the job, keep your sleeves and pant cuffs tight, keep long hair tied up and inside a hard hat, wear safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection is also a must. Don?t wear necklaces, scarves, or rings while you?re working. Always check your footing getting on and off equipment. Check for uneven, slippery, or cluttered surfaces. Check for equipment not locked/blocked/tagged out. Post a guard at the access to dumps and high-traffic areas to prevent injury from mobile equipment. Wear a safety belt or harness with lifeline for both worker and guard. Place your lock and tag on the power source, not just on the nearest switch. Prohibit equipment from moving while being worked on: Check for power left on, and equipment not block...
Mike Gravel and Bob Barr Considering Running as Libertarians
2008-03-28 02:36:00
The Republican nomination is all wrapped up. The Democrats are still fighting but, as Chris Dodd said,  “I think it’s very difficult to imagine how anyone can believe that Barack Obama can’t be the nominee of the party. I think that’s a foregone conclusion, in my view, at this juncture given where things are.” ...

Mike gravel is running for President as a Libertarian
2008-03-26 13:28:00
Mike gravel has joined the Libertarian Presidential Race. This came from www.thirdpartywatch.com Gravel For President 2008A Personal Message from Mike Gravel Dear friend, I wanted to update you on my latest plans before news gets out. Today, I am announcing my plan to join the Libertarian Party, because the Democratic Party no longer represents my vision for our great country. I wanted my supporters to get this news first, because you have been the ones who have kept my campaign alive since I first declared my candidacy on April 17, 2006. The fact is, the Democratic Party today is no longer the party of FDR. It is a party that continues to sustain war, the military-industrial complex and imperialism—all of which I find anathema to my views. By and large, I have been repeatedly marginalized in both national debates and in media exposure by the Democratic leadership, which works in tandem with the corporate interests that control what we read and hear in the media. I look forwa...

Luminescent Gravel
2008-03-17 20:16:00
Mixing glow-in-the-dark particles with flooring materials, the Dutch company S. Lövenstein BV created one of those no-fuss design fixes that improves safety and convenience. The substance has limitless applications for things like signage or guide strips with the ability to be evenly and seamlessly distributed throughout a surface and masked into shapes and patterns. Integrated with contrasting colors, it serves a purpose in both light and darkness or it can be used strategically so that it only shows up when the lights are off—making it particularly useful in emergency situations. Maintenance free, it's a far superior alternative to complicated lighting systems that need energy and require wiring. via Transmaterial

RRS Supportive President? What are your thoughts on Mike Gravel for Pres?
2008-01-28 18:00:00
The Rational Response Squad has just received an interesting email. Adam Abeles, Chief Biological Science Advisor for Mike Gravel (former Senator running for President) has written us and vocalized respect for our efforts, along with the request of some exposure due to the congruence of his goals with ours. This includes not only intensified promotion of science in all realms, particularly education, but the elimination of creation science in any classroom, and an open dialogue about the dangers of religion. We are reluctant to throw public support in for any particular candidate as it makes a potential conversion to a 501c3 much more difficult. We are able to convey the facts to you and present you with an area in which to discuss them. We want to know what you think of Mike Gravel. For one minute focus on your ideal candidate, and not the person you have to pick because you can't stand the other leading candidate. Let?s not focus on the chances of victory, but rather the poten...
SEA SHELL GRAVEL?
2008-01-17 10:47:00
Fed up with the gravel from your paths escaping onto the lawn and damaging your mower blades? Why not try using crushed seashells instead. These shells will simply break when a lawnmower accidentally runs over them - as well as being a more sustainable option than gravel or peashingle.Cockle shell and seashell aggregates are totally organic, and are made from re-cycled waste from the British Shellfish Industry. They have many uses in Landscape and garden design but are most commonly used as a gravel replacement for paths and driveways.Crushed seashells can also be used very effectively as a mulch for planting beds or to top dress plant pots and containers containers. They have excellent water retention properties and even act as a natural snail repellent!UK suppliers:DM Taylor and Company

ABC to exclude Gravel, Hunter, and Kucinich from debate
2008-01-05 23:54:00
I subscribe to Rob Kall's newsletter because, I don't know, I guess I like to feel that people who disagree with me are fools (I know not all of them are, but I like the feeling anyways.). Anyways, I got this today. It's about the debate and I thought it was interesting. Some points: 1. Who is ABC? They're the sponsors of the debate, that's who. Maybe you can have your own debate and invite thirty candidates. 2. How far does this thinking extend? Not only the thirty per party above, but what about including the Constitution party? Greens? Of course, somebody has to be excluded. I think cutting out people who have no reasonable chance will make it a more exciting debate, unless you want cut away from an argument between Clinton and Obama to get Mike Gravel's reaction. As for the "obscene" hyperventilation, well, whatever. 3. I didn't know ABC (and Disney), a huge corporation, gave that much money to the Democrats. Why would they do that? 4. I'll watch the debate. Come b...
US Presidential Candidates On Education: Mike Gravel
2008-01-05 04:29:00
The 2008 Iowa Caucuses have come and gone, while the New Hampshire primary is coming up hard on our right. The next candidate that we examine is Mike Gravel of Alaska, who is still in the race. Gravel, although the longest of long-shots, is still in the race, contrary to what MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has indicated. This is where Gravel stands on educational issues, according to USA Today:Mike Gravel on educationOn No Child Left Behind lawFormer Alaska senator Mike Gravel says he doesn’t like the No Child Left Behind education law, saying its emphasis on testing has robbed students of a well-rounded education. The law requires every state to test students annually. Schools failing to make academic progress over several years could be closed or have their faculty replaced.“Principals constantly prep students for the tests by cutting not only art, gym and music but also history and science,” he wrote in The New York Sun on Aug. 30, 2007. “No wonder children are bored with s...

Mike Gravel keeps it real
2007-12-21 21:35:00
I wasn’t sure at first if this is an official video from presidential candidate Mike Gravel (I can’t find it on his YouTube channel), but part of it trails along after the “Citizen Kate” video on the page, so I guess it is, indeed, 2 legit 2 quit. Watch and learn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q1PeZDHXgsw This is frighteningly like something I’d see on a Saturday morning cartoon or educational special from the mid-80s, but I can’t argue with the sentiment in these lyrics: Everybody talkin about pollution. Solution. Revolution. Evolution. Evolution. Revolution. Freedom of speech. Freedom to be who you are. The Constitution. Why won’t you let me say what I want to say Power to the people Give peace a chance Word. (Props to Edmundo for the link!)
Des Register Democratic Debate from Iowa (YouTube Videos) December 13, 2007
2007-12-16 02:27:00
December 13, 2007 the Des Moines Register and Iowa Public Television hosted the second day of presidential primary debates in Iowa. This time the Democrats faced off for Carolyn Washburn who moderated the debate. The debate was shown on the Fox News channel. The best part of this series of debates was that Fox News put the live dial group?s opinions to what the candidates were saying in the upper right hand corner. Being able to see how the dial group was reacting to what the candidates were saying was very interesting. Mike Gravel again was not present but the newest candidate to be excluded was Dennis Kucinich. The reason Dennis was excluded was not because of his low poll numbers but because his Iowa field director works from his home and did not meet the requirements of a full-time paid staff in Iowa. With the Iowa caucuses just 3 weeks away the candidates had one last chance to debate the issues before the people of Iowa went to vote. The candidates de...

Work-free surfaces with paving and gravel
2007-12-09 05:37:00
Hard surfaces need virtually no maintenance. They can be used in all sorts of creative ways in place of a lawn. For instance, you can create a courtyard garden enclosed by walls, a Mediterranean-style garden surrounded by evergreens, a minimalist Japanese-style garden, a walkthrough rock garden, a modern patio or a traditional, formal terrace. Gravel The quickest and easiest surface to lay
Mike Gravel & Dennis Kucinich - the only worthwhile candidates
2007-12-07 11:24:00
Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich are the only two worthwhile candidates for this presidential fiasco, in my eyes.Really quickly, Gravel is amazing - probably the best. The former Senator from Alaska's website is Gravel2008.He has great ideas and standpoints for any conceivable issue - and he's slammed Hillary on a lot of her crap, and many of the other deadweight candidates too.Kucinich is a close second, and is currently in the House (literally and probably proverbially). He had a good enough sense of humor to appear on The Colbert Report and empty out all his pockets, which always contain a lot of things. Both these men are good choices, and you should check them out. Especially because I've never cared enough about ANY presidential candidate before to even mention them ANYWHERE. I think that's pretty notable.Vote Gravel (or Kucinich) in 08.

How gravel or sand pits will affect property values
2007-12-05 04:02:00
I am looking for data and statistics on how gravel or sand pits can affect property values. I live in a small Vermont Village where a gravel pit is proposed on a 30 acre parcel of land in walking distance to our Village. Smart Growth indicates that this parcel would be well suited for Residential development, however there is a large deposit of gravel on the land. I need to present facts to our Town Representatives on how our property values will be affected by having a gravel pit with as many of 50-70 trucks a day coming out of the pit for up to 35-50 years.

Mike Gravel - "Hillary, Your Lips are Moving and You're Lying'
2007-11-19 20:08:00
In this video, Former Senator and U.S. Presidential candidate Mike Gravel -- who was not invited to be in the Nevada debate -- held his own event where he responded to the answers given by the candidates, well, ok, Senator Clinton here. He says she's lying about Clinton's position on Iran, saying "Hillary, Your Lips are Moving and you're lying. She's ignorant. The law that was past right after 9-11, coupled with the resolution that (U.S. Senator Joe Libermann) put in, gave the President the power to go to war." It's not right that he was excluded; he'd have made the event informative and unforgetable as well as providing a great check for Hillary Clinton.

Busy D.: "Won't the wheels get in the way of taking pictures of the street?" So, we may be in street view, but, it won't be nearly as interesting as the Top 15 Google Street View sightings. At least I hope not, anyway. I'm not entirely sure what the boys were doing in the back seat.
