Grinderman
2008-05-24 22:03:00 For decades, Nick Cave, ringmaster of his own rock'n'roll circus, has been an unlikely paragon of routine. Not routine music, per se, but music made as part of a routine. Check in to the office, check out of the office. Repeat. Don't wait for your muse to come to you. Go to her first and demand she appear. Contrary to his reputation as a bit of a wild man, by his own account Cave's spent the past several years a man of discipline, with rules right down to what rules need be discarded, and when.Grinderman, then, is Cave's considered decision to set aside those rules and make a sideways move into the realm of stripped down-- but far from mellow-- rock. Inspired by the creation of the most recent Bad Seeds release, Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, Cave took his cohorts Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, andJim Sclavunos into the studio to slash and burn their way through new ideas until they'd amassed enough for an album. Unlike Abattoir/Lyre however, Cave kept the remaining Bad Seed...

The Grinderman: Nick Cave Makes Some of the Most Visceral Rock and Roll to
2007-07-18 07:01:00 It was a few months ago when I first heard of the Grinderman, a new project from Nick Cave and a few of the members of this previous band, the Bad Seeds. It was only a slight mention in some music publication, nothing much that stood out but for some reason, the name ...
Fresh: Grinderman
2007-04-05 11:50:00 Considering Nick Cave the ultimate songwriter and his music a divine agony, little space is left for hesitation when it comes to his work particularly his new-fangled venture entitled Grinderman. Like Nick Cave, the other members are also from The Bad Seeds, Jim Sclavunos, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and they have released their debut in March 2007 for Mute. The following and opening video is for the song “No Pussy Blues” and it exploits the subject of reproduction among animals as well as humans. Most music televisions will probably ban this video since it shows snakes rabbits, insects…..all in action."No Pussy Blues"

Grinderman - be sure it is noisy
2007-03-11 20:52:00 Nick Cave has created a new album together with three of his men from Bad Seeds: Martyn P. Casey, Jim Sclavunos och Warren Ellis. They call themselves Grinderman and the album has the same title: Grinderman. One of the tracks is Get it on - which I think is also released as a single.Listen to it at the myspace-place of Grinderman. I am not sure wether Washington Post likes it or not:No, your earbuds aren't broken. That's just the sound of Nick Cave strangling a guitar and dragging his mangled riffs across across 2 1/2 minutes of broken-glass songcraft. The racket he's making with his new troupe here might be the harshest since his days with the Birthday Party. Anyhow, the Swedish music reporters seem to like it. Foul-mouthed, noisy, hairy, and damn well old enough to know better: Here is another noisy one. Andra bloggar om: Grinderman, punk, punkrock, musik, Nick Cave, rock, music, video, album
