2008-03-05 20:49:00 Two days ago it was nearly seventy degrees outside. The wind was blowing, sun shining intermittently, birds were singing, children laughing and a warm feeling of hope cradled us all... OK So maybe it wasn't all that great, but I did open up the windows and the kids played outside all afternoon, in short sleeves.This morning it was twenty five degrees and I woke up to this:That's a solid ice covered tree with an extra coating of snow for good measure.Not so much as I woke up to that huge pile of ice covered limbs as I went to bed with it last night. I had to clear enough of them from the driveway so that my wife could get to work this morning.I'm gonna kill that Groundhog if I ever catch up to him!P.S. Some of you may recall I've recently had some problems with that same tree. I was going to have it chopped down. Mother Nature is pruning it for me.

One saw it, the other did not, thus the appearance of Spring is not definite as of yet. What a marriage this would make! Dept 56 already is sold in many garden specialty stores, so it appears to me it would be a natural fit.There could be a series of fanciful buildings with names like "Lancaster Gardens", "Sunshine Farms", "Greenthumb Guild", etc. There could be combination buildings and flower pots. 2007-02-02 19:13:01 Good news! Punxsutawney Phil (you know, the groundhog) did not see his shadow this morning! Which, of course, according to German folklore means we can expect an early spring instead of six more weeks of winter! Huzzah! Three cheers for Phil! It's about time we had an early spring! Since 1886, Phil has seen his shadow a total of 96 times, not seen his shadow 15 times, and 9 times the records of whether or not he saw his shadow have been lost or misplaced. Probably part of some Punxsutawney Groundhog Club cover-up or conspiracy, but I digress. Far more often than not, the little critter predicts more bad weather. In fact, the last time he didn't see his shadow was back in 1999. So I guess we were due for a positive prediction.
