guilt and auric holes
2008-08-23 21:30:00 Saturday 23: Here?s a curiosity. The nursing home is about five miles away and generally takes about fifteen minutes to get there. So no driving-caused drain (on energetic levels). I have been unable to drink red wine for several days (and don?t drink any other alcohol now). Yet last night I felt wiped out. And ...

Guilt-Free Luxury Cars?
2008-07-29 22:57:00 With high gas prices and slow sales in the luxury auto market, I was excited to see Forbes Magazine do an article titled: “Ten Guilt-Free Luxury Cars,” featuring the following cars: Lexus IS-F Infiniti M-35 Jaguar XF Lexus LS 460 Mercedes-Benz GL Class Lexus RX-400 Hybrid Mercedes-Benz M Class Mercedes Benz E320 Bluetec Audi A6 BMW 5 Series I thought it would contain insightful research on “green” luxury cars, I was wrong. The Forbes article focused on cars priced between $40,000 and $90,000, and it appears the biggest contributing factor in making the “guilt free list” is a high resale value (around 50%) after three years. Of the ten cars on the list, only two achieved a 25 mpg rating, the Mercedes-Benz E 320 Bluetec and the Lexus RX400 Hybrid. What?s appalling, five of the ten cars failed to achieve 20 mpg. Now don’t get me wrong, the list is compromised of some great cars. For the most part they’re not m...

Modern Guilt
2008-07-09 07:03:00 Beck's new album Modern Guilt, produced with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, will be released July 8, 2008.The new album contains 10 new songs, and with the exception of last year's Grammy-nominated, digital-only single "Timebomb", Modern Guilt is the first new material Beck has written since the prolific stretch that produced 2005's platinum Guero and 2006's universally acclaimed The Information.Modern Guilt is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album's ten tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse's shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration.Beck is about to embark on a tour of the UK and Europe, followed by a number of US headline and festival appearances, culminating in Beck's biggest hometown headline show to date, Septe...
The Psychology of Guilt
2008-06-09 17:13:00 By Mark I Myhre http://ezinearticles.com-/?expert=Mark_I_Myhre Guilt exists as a fabricated emotion. It holds little or no realness. It’s hard to call it a real emotion. You see, a real emotion is one that has both a positive and a negative side. Love, fear, hate, anger, sadness, happiness and so many other emotions all have both a positive and a negative component. Not guilt. Guilt is all negative. It adds nothing to your existence. Sure, many people use it as a motivator: “I’ll feel guilty if I don’t do this.” It’s called an ‘expedient motivator’. Meaning, it’s used when you lack principle-based motivation. It’s a cheap way to inspire action in yourself and others. Guilt basically comes down to manipulation. The function - the purpose - of guilt involves manipulating yourself and others to take some sort of action or to feel some sort of way. Guilt punishes. Both yourself and those around you. Guilt contributes nothing. ...
Push for White Guilt Starts Early [Digg]
2008-06-09 02:45:00 Americans are no more racist for not voting for Obama than they are ageists if they do not vote for McCain or sexists if they did not vote for Hillary. It comes down to qualifications and how the voting public assesses them. If it involves something else then people are misguided.

Beck Conjures 1960s Brit-Rock Vibe on Danger Mouse-Produced Modern Guilt
2008-05-17 05:26:00 Share on StumbleUpon: " target="_blank">It was the most intensive work Ive ever done on anything, Beck says the day after finishing his new record, sounding slightly dazed. For his 10th studio disc, Beck worked with Brian Burton, better known as Danger Mouse whos overcommitted as both a producer and a member of Gnarls Barkley, which just released a record of their own. It was like trying to fit two years of songwriting into two and a half months, Beck says. I know I did at least 10 weeks with no days off, until four or five in the morning every night. Burton remembers Becks stamina during their late-night sessions: Hes like a machine. I always got tired before he did. I stayed pretty late, but Id usually hear the next day how late it went. The resulting album, tentatively titled Modern Guilt, is full of off-kilter rhythms and left-field breakdowns, with an overall 1960s British vibe. Becks vocals float over the music as if hes singing along to some mystical radio st...

Guilt Free Ice Cream Pig Out
2008-05-10 17:16:00 I talked to a woman yesterday as I waited on line in the bank. She seemed agitated and told me the pizza she?d had for lunch was haunting her. Indigestion? I asked. Nope. Guilt was ruining her day and the memory of the ONE slice of pizza she?d eaten. ONE slice!I asked what was wrong with eating it? She looked horrified and moaned about how she needed to lose weight and that she was a bad girl for going off her diet. Now mind you, I didn?t know her. But she picked her shirt up a few inches to show me what she perceived of as rolls of fat. She looked perfectly fine to me. Then she told me how fattening pizza is. And how many points it has.Points! I give pizza 10 points, because it?s so yummy. Her points were negative. She was miserable. When I eat pizza, I?m happy after.I reassured her to no avail and could see that slice of pizza was stuck in her throat as she punished herself for eating it. Why do that to yourself? Why ruin a treat by playing guilt over and over in your head? When I ...

YUM!!Nutmeg flavouring the sauce...This time I made it healthier too...by substituting a part of the cream with yogurt. It's adapted from a recipe I chanced by while at Baking Bites & was sold on the idea. This recipe is one that can make an appearance more often, without me feeling guilty of so many calories. Guillen and Gibbons given repreives from guilt
2008-03-30 14:24:00 Newsday reports that MLB players Jay Gibbons and Jose Guillen, both linked to HGH and PEDs will not begin 15 suspensions as previously planned. So much for Bug Selig saying what he means and meaning what he says. Major League Baseball put the suspensions of the Orioles' Jay Gibbons and the Royals' Jose Guillen on hold for 10 days, giving lawyers more time to reach an agreement toughening baseball's drug rules. The outfielders were suspended for 15 days each by commissioner Bud Selig on Dec. 6 after media reports linking them to performance-enhancing drugs. The penalties were to start Sunday. "Pretty surprising," Gibbons said. "Put it this way: I'm cautiously optimistic. At least they're talking." Negotiators are close to an agreement that would call for more frequent testing and would strengthen the authority of the independent program administrator. If there is an agreement, the suspensions most likely will be eliminated as part of an overall amn...

Guilt & the Law of Attraction
2008-03-08 04:21:00 I?ve been writing about guilt and how it hurts our lives. It gives other people power over your life and happiness. Often your choice to assuming guilt is a lose/lose situation. You lose if you give in to what the person makes you feel guilty about, such as canceling your plans to help them, loaning money you don?t want to (and know you probably won?t get back), giving a referral about someone you don?t really trust, etc. Guilt makes you do things you don?t want to. That makes you unhappy. You lose if you don?t give in to what the person wants from you if you let guilt take over. That too makes you unhappy. The Law of Attraction means you get back what you put out. If you put out that you?re accepting a mindset that brings unhappiness, you attract more unhappiness, probably in the form of more guilt. Why do that??! It brings nothing good. The people who make you feel guilty aren?t satisfied with one time. Guilt can be an ongoing process: * Mom may moan about how much she needs you to ...

Hamas Mouthpiece Denies Arab Guilt in Holocaust
2008-03-04 22:49:00 Denial of Arab Holocaust guilt has been around since the late 1940s, at least. Both Arabs and their Western sympathizers, as well as Communists of various stripes, propagate this big lie. Arab spokesmen repeat the lie in a very touching and extremely hypocritical manner that poorly matches their usual brutal cynicism and lies. Why should we pay for Europe's sins against the Jews of Europe?? they whine. But the Arab nationalist movement as a whole was pro-Nazi and pro-fascist. The chief leader of the palestinian Arabs, Haj Amin el-Husseini [al-Husayni], British-appointed mufti of Jerusalem, took an active part in the Holocaust and in Nazi Germany's war effort. He urged the Germans to murder more Jews, including Jewish children. Although during WW2 itself, the Nazis gave much publicity to Husseini's collaboration with them, and it was never a secret, the pro-Arab nationalist lie machines in Europe, the Communist bloc, and the West [including the USA] have worked to have this histor...

Lightening Guilt?Part 2
2008-03-04 18:19:00 On Friday I posted a response to a reader who asked for help with managing her guilt. She?s feeling guilty about the fallout from her divorce. Yet her husband drank heavily and refused to give up his contact with a woman he?d become very close to. When I was a DoorMat I lived with lots of guilt. The few times I turned down requests for my help, guilty feelings pervaded my existence. After my divorce I had a boyfriend who blamed me for all the wrong HE did. It was MY fault when he misinterpreted things I said that were clear and full of loving intentions. It was MY fault that he didn?t show up when he said he would. He had many problems that were beyond my control and were there long before he met me. I knew that on a rational level. But insecurity makes the nicest of us irrational. I?d apologize profusely while a voice in the back of my head asked why? I?d done nothing wrong! In retrospect, I see that my insecurity pushed me to be perfect, which is impossible to be. Yet I gave it the...
Lightening Guilt?Part 1
2008-03-01 05:30:00 A reader wrote to ask me about guilt. She told me the story of how when her husband began to drink too much, she lost her desire for sex. He continued drinking heavily and she withdrew more. Then she discovered his ?friendship? with another woman and demanded he end it. He refused and it eventually ended their marriage. Now remember the sequence?he drinks too much, she withdraws because of the drinking, he cheats and blames her for him turning to another woman, static leads to divorce. And she?s guilty!Hello! His drinking was the first thing that initiated the sequence. She took the blame because he?d complained about not having enough sex, while his escalating drinking caused her lack of interest. Now she?s divorced and struggling with mounting debt as she tries to raise her two kids alone. Guilt made her assume responsibility for debts that her ex-husband was responsible for. As she tries to take control of her life, he continues to hurl guilt bombs at her.Guilt is a big happiness...

Talking With Jesus: "The Guilt of the Body"
2008-02-27 16:00:00 M: It somewhat annoys me that I have to go through this. Why is it so difficult to know God? J: God is always known. How could Creation not know its Creator?Separation is a state of denial made to veil the truth and your world is that veil made manifest. It is a delusional fantasy where fear fills awareness instead of love. Although Heaven is your Being and does not require choice, you choose denial. Essentially, knowledge always exists in the mind, yet through distraction, the mind seems to have forgotten. Yet, what is forgotten is not lost, but simply requires remembering.M: Why would I choose denial of God. J: In the "thought" of separation, guilt was born. Denial is unavailable in eternity, yet, in time, you believe it is an effective defense for the guilt inherent in your belief of separate minds. In a sense, you are angry at your “self” for forgetting and the fear of facing your denial is incredibly burdensome. This causes guilt. I teach that you are innocent ...

I have worked hard and talked to thousands of people to get an enormous number of people telling me NO before I was able to get to the YES's I have needed to reach my goals. So why is it so hard for me to just sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labor? I do know in part is because I want those I have brought into the business to reach the same level I am with my company. Guilt-ridden
2008-01-27 17:29:00 The Unskilled Poet (see links below) issues a daily challenge to write poetry based upon a single word. Today's word is "confession". I haven't been to church today. Why? Ennui, malaise, a rudderless sense of not belonging. Thus, the following poem has crept in silently, giving voice to a deep-seated guilt from childhood that I cannot banish. Yet, I know, I am forgiven.Confession BoxThe box,Wherein,I lay myself bareTo YouAdmit all that I have done,Or not done.Telling talesOut of schoolOwning up to lies and deceit,Curses and oaths,Disinterest and shame. The guiltDrives me back to YouAnd yet,I cannot enter.I feel the forces of EvilBarring my way,Laughing for spite.I must get in!And confessAnd beScrubbed clean.Kathleen Mortensen © 2008

Although it is sometimes important to say such things, it ...
Guilt-free morning-after
2008-01-24 14:08:00 Okay, in all honesty, some morning-afters aren?t guilt-free. However, for the most part, a quick snuggle, joint shower, and then breakfast together is a great way to spend the first part of a Saturday morning. So what?s this ?guilt-free? business? After all those ?Happy New Years?, ?Merry Christmases?, and ?Happy Hanukahs?, the only post-Auld Lang Syne thoughts you?ll be thinking will be about those extra ten pounds you packed on during the break. Well, not really ? but what is realistic is that an awful lot of people make the ol? ?be healthier?, ?lose weight?, ?work out more? types of resolutions. And the easiest way to break these decrees of determination? Peer pressure. Especially a ?peer? who eats with you and encompasses your free time. Last night, Bobby seemed like a great choice, and this morning, you smile as you wake up to the smell of breakfast cooking. As you make your way downstairs, he turns with a grin in front of the stove, frying up bacon and eggs, spreading thick sl...
