Municipal Elections Held Via Internet In Gujarat City Using Scytl
2011-05-23 11:29:00 The first Internet Elections in India have taken place, according to Scytl, a provider of secure remote voting technology. Business View called it a ’major step in India’s electoral history as citizens were able to vote through the internet for the first time ever’. Internet voting technology was used by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation for its elections in April. An impressive 77.16% of the registered voters cast their vote electronically from e-voting booths and from the convenience of their homes. A trial had been carried out previously in September 2010 and this April’s elections were the first larger scale elections carried out using the new system of Scytl’s Internet Technology. Gujarat may soon not be the only state. Other states are also considering the implementation of Internet voting in their public sector elections. Idea Plans To Roll Out 3G Services In Gujarat Early Next Year

One of the oldest mobile operators in the state Idea has bagged 3G spectrum license for eleven circles that include Gujarat. It already has a subscriber’s base of 6 million in the state alone and is considering offering Mobile Number Portability (MNP) as well. Altogether, these would help it increase the user base in the state even more. No Ahmedabad student in first five in Gujarat SSC examination
2008-06-07 08:12:00 It is surprising thing that the biggest city of Gujarat, Ahmedabad, does not figure till the half of the top ten list of the SSC examinations. The first student of Ahmedabad to find place in the merit list is Patel Avanee Chandrakantbhai of Vidyanagar Girls High School Thakkarbapa Road. She has got 95.38 percent while the topper Gaur Saurabh Kishorkumar of Palanpur has got 96.31 per cent. The difference of 0.93 percent is not small. There are 14 students ahead of Avanee. In the entire merit list Ahmedabad is second after Surat. Ahmedabad has ten students in the top ten while Surat tops with 13 students. Face-lift for Gujarat hospitals, medical colleges

Six major state-run hospitals and medical colleges associated with them are being given a face-lift by the Gujarat government at a cost of Rs400 million.Health minister Jainarayan Vyas told Khaleej Times that the hospital upgradation had been taken up to meet the norms set by the Medical Council of India, and would be completed by March next.While professors and tutors are being appointed, the students will soon benefit from a new software which will help them connect to other universities and access medical books and journals from across the globe.According to Vyas, the students will be able to refer to case studies of foreign universities and also surf libraries online.
