Handwriting Meme - By teeni
2008-12-09 23:51:00
What a nice way to post on your blog.  Teeni, my friend from Vegetarian Tea Room is a very creative writer who just created a new meme for posting a handwritten entry.  I’ve often been bothered by the fact that I am always on the computer and my handwriting has deteriorated over the years.  Surprisingly my hand began to cramp up in writing just one page of this poem.  teeni, your handwriting is so clean and beautiful. When was the last time you hand wrote something? (except of course greeting cards).  I am almost embarrassed that my handwriting doesn’t look as smooth as it should be so I’ll be practicing writing with pen a bit more now. And teeni’s post also reminded me of the Handwritten Blogs that I had come across a while ago and wanted to talk about it but then forgot.  So thanks teeni for reminding of this technique. Click on the picture to enlarge.  It’s a poem “Longing” By Mathew Arnold. And here is the text: Come to me in my ...
Dealing with Handwriting Problems? Turn to qwertyuiop
2008-09-21 21:27:00
In case you don?t find yourself seated in front of a computer on a regular basis, the sequence ?qwertyuiop? may seem a bit odd. Should that be the case, you are probably equally unfamiliar with its neighbors-- ?asdfghjkl? and ?zxcvbnm.? In combination, these represent the three main rows of letters on a keyboard. They came to the fore recently when I was reading an article about Philip Roth, the novelist. Talking about Roth?s drive, passion and/or obsession with writing, it said ?Never a day passes when he does not stare at those three hateful words: qwertyuiop, asdfghjkl, and zxcvbnm.?
Bad Handwriting? If It's Any Comfort, The USA Is Not Alone
2008-09-07 19:42:00
When I was a child, several of my older relatives were illiterate (no small factor in my going into the line of work that I chose). And I recall that when they had to write a letter, they went to a "scribe" --one of the more learned people in the neighborhood. There, they would dictate what they had to say and he (it always seemed to be a "he") would put their words on paper. Then the letter would sent on its way. It's been a long time since I heard the word "scribe" but I came across it recently in a British newspaper, The Independent, which reported that thousands of teenagers need "scribes" to help them write their exams because they are incapable of answering questions in longhand themselves.

My Handwriting Analysis
2008-05-24 12:00:00
It's quite long... not sure if you are interested to read, but I want to post this for my reference... Trinity is moderately outgoing. Her emotions are stirred by sympathy and heart rendering stories. In fact, she can be kind, friendly, affectionate and considerate of others. She has the ability to put herself into the other person's shoes. (You tell me about this. Yeah I think I am outgoing and emotionally stirred by my heart... but do you think I can be so cruel and inconsiderate as well?) Trinity will be somewhat moody, with highs and lows. Sometimes she will be happy, the next day she might be sad. She has the unique ability to get along equally well with what psychology calls introverts and extroverts. This is because she is in between. Psychology calls Trinity an ambivert. She understands the needs of both types. Although they get along, she will not tolerate anyone that is too "far out." She doesn't sway too far one way or...

Scrapbooking Your Handwriting: The Personal Touch
2008-05-04 11:13:00
Scrapbooking has joined the digital age.  We can now make complete scrapbooking pages on our computers. Even those of us who prefer traditional scrapbooking tend to use the computer for our journaling to print clean, neat captions and narratives on our layouts.  Handwriting on pages may not be as pretty as a computer font, but it is so much more personal and meaningful to our families.  Why do we hesitate to use our own handwriting in our albums?  There are a few reasons.  The most common one is cooperation that our handwriting is too messy or won’t be able to be  read by others.  We should all try to get farther than this and realize how important it is to our family to preserve something as unique as our handwriting.  Think about those handwritten letters and recipes from a grandparent and how important they are to you now. Another reason folks resist handwriting on page layouts is fear that they will make a blunder that cannot be era...
Handwriting recognition for iPhone
2008-04-25 09:06:00
Chinese developer called “iPhone Cake” developed handwriting recognition for iPhone using HWPen for Latin and Chinese alphabets. Specifically used for jailbroken iPhones, the application adds an additional button to the keyboard screen, which you could just tap and write on the screen with your fingers. Since the application integrates with native text input of the iPhone, HWPen is available anywhere you normally would use your keyboard. It also works with the auto-complete function of iPhone, so you could start typing a word and hitting the spacebar to choose between spelling suggestions. The HWPen tries to work with whole words but it usually works better if you have entered one letter at a time. The software is still in beta development but based on the comments at the product page, it causes the iPhone to freeze up, requiring a restart. Another very common problem is that every time you use it, it defaults back to Chinese, meaning you have to press extra buttons in e...

Handwriting Recognition App For iPhone Released (Beta)
2008-04-17 03:24:00
An independent developer by the online name of mars1907 has created a new native app that brings Newton-like handwriting recognition to the iPhone. Called HWPen, the technology utilizes the iPhone's touch sensitivity to allow you to draw letters with your fingertip instead of type them on the keyboard, which is then recognized as a character and entered as text.On an interesting note, the software was originally created by Hanwang.com.cn for the recognition of Chinese characters, but supports the Latin alphabet and Arabic numerals, too.You can get HWPen on iPhone by adding the source iphonecake.com/src/all . Also, this app is still in beta, so it might be a good idea to back up your springboard plist /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/c-om.apple.SpringBoard.plist beforehand.[via MacRumors]This blog will tell you how to Unlock Jailbreak Activate and Hack your iPhone and iTouch firmware for FREE

iPhone Graffiti offers Palm-style handwriting recognition
2008-04-16 18:34:00
Something I can’t remember hearing much complaint about, surprisingly, is the absence of handwriting recognition on the iPhone.  There have been various studies comparing the on-screen QWERTY keyboard with T9 and hardware thumb-board options, but seemingly little demand for the ability to write directly onto the cellphone’s screen.  Well, anybody who has missed such an option can now install iPhone Graffiti; as the name suggests, it’s a version of the Graffiti handwriting recognition, as seen on Palm OS devices. Supporting Latin and Chinese characters, as well as full punctuation and symbols, letters are drawn on the input grid in the lower half of the screen and converted as you write.  Since the iPhone doesn’t use a stylus, you might find you need to train your finger to make the shapes clearly.  Alternatively there are a couple of compatible styli available, such as from Pogo. iPhone Graffiti is still in early beta form, so the advice is to back up ...

Deciphering the Doctor's Handwriting
2008-03-29 09:16:00
We all heard about the Da Vinci Code right? But there is something more difficult to comprehend and very difficult to decipher: the doctor's handwriting... it's a great mystery why Doctor's handwriting is illegible. There is also this study conducted by the British Medical Journal to check if doctor's handwriting were legible. Guess what the result is? Doctors Fail Handwriting Test! For years now I have always been told that my handwriting is like a doctor's. This is meant to be a joke of course, but can also be misunderstood for an insult. It is true that I had my own share of horror and eye strain from trying to read and make sense of the scribbles and marks written by doctor's on their Doctor's Order. In fact I always have to team up with my other duty mates to help me break the secret of the doctor's handwriting. But we always end up making mistakes. It amazes us though that my clinical instructors are able to understand this foreign handwriting. We always ask our CI's in...
