Key To Happiness !

Everyone wants to be happy and be free from stress. There is a lot of media coverage with fancy terms like Happiness Index and Gross national Happiness etc. But simply put happiness means a fulfilling peaceful life. It is antonym to stress which has turned out to be the biggest killer of our times. A lot ...

Antes de empezar a traducir el tomo 9 de Homunculus me apetecía algo distinto, así que hice esto a modo de divertimento. Can Michelle Wie and Natalie Gulbis find happiness outside the ropes of the
2009-06-30 15:42:00
Click here to listen. After watching the struggles of both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson (among the other great golfers) at the 109th US Open, it can be said that this was the year of the initiate, not the veteran. Lucas Glover, who had only won once in his career on the PGA Tour astounded and amazed the crowd with his steely gaze, focus and lack of emotion while both Woods and Mickelson fell short of the basic skills needed to get the job done. One can almost compare Glover to the lovely Natalie Gulbis who has also had a single victory but who, along with Michelle Wie, failed to qualify for this year's U.S. Women's Open and may be watching from the sidelines. Will either be offering Twitter commentary? Not likely! What separates golfers who qualify from those who don't?When John Daly missed qualifying for the U.S. Open, he remarked that his feet were tired and the greens over in Europe were much slower than those in the States adding, "talk about not even sniffing a putt!" Solid ...

I recently came across a photo Hubby took of a correspondence of sorts between he and Sweetie. For a time, Hubby was writing crazy surveys or sentences on our chalkboard for Sweetie to complete. One such "finish the sentence" that he presented to her on the board was: "Happiness is a warm _______."And what did Sweetie answer? No, she didn't go the Beatles route and fill it in with the easy to spell "gun" (ya know, since I'm pretty sure she's never even heard of that song and all). No, she took an even simpler route by keeping the blank there, as is, and just adding an "et" at the end of it."Happiness is a warm ______et" (get it? you must! "Happiness is a warm blanket." Ha!)She's so funny. You know what happiness is to me? Go on - guess! That's right.... Sweetie. Sweetie makes me incredibly happy.I love listening to her babble and sing as she plays in the unconventional ways that she does. She has a tea set, but does she play tea party? No. She turns the cups upside down on their...
Thinking Too Much about Happiness

In a wonderfully, insightful post on why woman are unhappier than ever, Ann Althouse concludes with a thought that really got me thinking: Anyway, why are women so sad? I think it’s because we think about our feelings so much and care so much about being happy. This applies to men as well.  When we try too ...

Within you Without you: Happiness is just around the Corner
2009-02-21 02:57:00
What constitutes happiness? It often turns out that due to our materialistic way of life and thought happiness is located outside of the self. We claim that we have been dealt bad cards but if certain circumstances were to change, we would find true happiness. If only we could meet that perfect mate, we would be happy for all time. If only we had a better-paying and more satisfying job, we would ask for nothing else in this life. If only we were rich and famous, all our problems would fade away.Happiness may be visible but it happens to be just out of reach. It is the tip of the iceberg on a wide open sea. It is the apple dangling in front of the eyes of the donkey and whenever the donkey moves, so does the apple. In fact, most of us have a similar outlook on our religious and spiritual life, a kind of glass-ceiling effect where God is located outside, out there, up there, in the canvass of open skies.Others claim to have had a vision of being ?touched? by God or a spiritual entity....
What Is Your Happiness?
2009-02-03 21:47:00
My friend, Dal Raiford, who was a stellar golf professional, now retired and donning the mantle of thinker and question-asker, who is also utterly unafraid to delve into the thorniest issues, brought up the subject of happiness. Now, I, like a lot of other people, do have opinions about happiness. But, in a deeper sense, I am not sure what ?happiness? is really. I suspect happiness has to be in-the-moment or not at all. I don?t think you can look at a larger frame of time and go, ?Oh, I was happy then.? Were you really? For the entire period?every bit of it? And was that happiness dependent on circumstances or other people? Then it likely wasn?t really happiness?or was it? Probably the happiness of Zen Buddhists or of Eckhart Tolle is the most we humans can achieve: detachment from expectations of the future or delusions from the past and perfect presence in the moment, responsive to and utterly aware, right now. Are we happy right now? I think I?ve felt those moments of...

Under the chosen tree in garden, the master and his disciple, Mumtahina is sitting facing each other. They have been sitting in silence for such long that the disciple has lost track of time. Only sound of deep breathing. Even the birds in the garden are also observing a mysterious silence at this hour. The masters glance is now withdrawn, his eyes closed. Following the trail of the silence of the master, the student observe the same. No permission in this path to speak before the master. The master always teaches, 'those who don't know adab or proper manner with people, shall be deprived of the holy vision in the court of the Most Majestic King which requires observing and embodying the greatest impeccable manner'. 'Adab is the beginning and adab is the end of the journey' as taught in this school of love. From the dervish quarters a faint voice appear to the garden space. someone is reciting the Quran. "O ye who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor...

An Open Heart's Desire for Happiness
2008-10-30 21:00:00
1.The purpose of spiritual practice is to fulfill our desire for happiness. We are all equal in wishing to be happy and to overcome our suffering, and I believe that we all share the right to fulfill this aspiration. When we look at the happiness we seek and the suffering we wish to avoid, most evident are the pleasant and unpleasant feelings we have as a result of our sensory experience of the tastes, smells, textures, sounds, and forms that we perceive around us. There is, however, another level of experience. True happiness must be pursued on the mental level as well.If we compare the mental and physical levels of happiness, we find that the experiences of pain and pleasure that take place mentally are actually more powerful. For example, though we may find ourselves in a very pleasant environment, if we are mentally depressed or if something is causing us profound concern, we will hardly notice our surroundings. On the other hand, if we have inner, mental happiness, we find it ea...

He, therefore, is a wise and prudent man, who, after morning prayer, spends an hour renewing his own spiritual reckoning, and says, "My soul, you only have one life; no moment that has passed can be recovered, and in God?s mind the number of your breaths has been set down and cannot be increased. When life is done, no spiritual highways will hold the traffic of your freighted soul, therefore what you would do, you must do now; so treat this day as if your life were spent, and this, an extra day, was granted you by special favor of Almighty God. What folly greater than to lose this chance?"- Selection from Al-Ghazzali's Alchemy of Happiness, interpreted by Javez L. Van Cleef1.The Alchemy of Happiness (Kimiya'e al Saadat) by one of the most celebrated muslim mystic of all time, Imam Al Ghazzali, is considered a timeless spiritual masterpiece. Happiness

Sometimes the world is a really horrible place and we all just moan about all the bad things (i am so guilty of that!) but every now and again something happens to make you understand how fortunate you are.I took this photo from our balcony and i just love it. It was one of those dark Mediterranean stormy days that started out perfect but ended with lighting and rain and this was sort of in between all that. (it looked so much better in real life though!) I made me smile and think about how extremely lucky i am!Everyone should have pictures of things you appreciate to make everything else seem worthwhile! :)

Thought of the Day: "Love isn't someone you can live with..... it's someone you can't live without".....I apologize dear reader for not writing and updating you on my travels. I have thought of you but when there is so much in life to experience, there is not enough time to write about them. When I look back at the past, I realize that much of what I wrote before was written from a position of pain. It was my effort to rationalize what I was feeling. Today, I smile as I sit here at my breakfast table, eating my cereal. My life today is different from what it was. Positive thinking has changed my perception and outlook on life. What caused the change? It was a desire to be happy. We all have a set amount of time on this earth. You can spend it either in sadness, or you can take your destiny into you hands and mould your future.I choose the latter.thought du jourNote about the photo:If you had told me a few months ago that I would have the opportunity to get press credentials to sho...

How to be happy - Part 1
2008-07-16 15:33:00
Mama always said, “If’n you ain’t got anyting good to say don’t say nuttin at all!” So lately I haven’t said much. During my silence I did some soul searching to find out why I seemed to be in a slump. The process I went through to discover the reasons for my slight depression might be able to help other people who are going through a crisis in their lives. If you are lacking motivation, feeling a little down, or don’t feel happiness as you once did then I have a fix for the rut you find yourself in. Getting real with how you feel What are your feelings about your life? I asked myself this very same question and for me the best way to get anything done is to make a list. So I made a list and decided that I would write down the emotions and feeling that I experienced when I thought about the present course of my life. Think about how your life would be if you were to repeat the last few months or years for the rest of your life. For me I felt...

Finding Happiness - What the Pursuit is All About
2008-06-09 17:29:00
By Eric Eliacin  http://ezinearticles-.com/?expert=Eric_Eliacin What is happiness?  How do we achieve it?  People all over the world have struggled over these questions for centuries.  The truth is, the answers have always been out there! Every American has heard the phrase “the pursuit of happiness,” but not a lot of people understand what it really means.  “Happiness” is not something you must strive for; instead, happiness is something you achieve via the pursuit of another goal.  People don’t wake up some time in their lives and say, “I’m happy now.”  Everyone must find his or her own unique path to happiness. So how do you find your path? First, picture yourself in a perfect world.  Try not to think of the cliché fantasy of a sandy beach drinking a piña colada.  Instead, try to think of what changes you would make to your current situation to make it ideal.  Would you prefer a different job?  Do you wish you had a be...
Happiness in 5 Steps
2008-06-09 17:23:00
By Mel Mcintyre http://ezinearticles.-com/?expert=Mel_Mcintyre Ah, happiness; that elusive state everybody wants a piece of. But we spend so much time searching for it that we overlook the obvious. Unlike some of the other essentials in life, such as money, food, clothing, etc., this one doesn’t exist outside of us. If you really want to be happy and aren’t just fond of the idea of being happy, you have the means at your disposal to create your own happiness any time you wish. Here are five of the more common things you can do to boost your spirits and feel great without spending a dime! 1. Grin & Wear It Is your glass always half-empty? Half of something is better than nothing. Half a bottle of champagne is still champagne. If you can afford that, you’ve got more than most people will ever have. It sounds corny, but contented people really do think positive. The ability to see the good points in others or to make the most of a situation can easily put a smile ...
