2007-08-14 20:49:00 Ahora que Tony se ha ido a la gran Hacienda en el cielo de los manchesterianos, es justo y necesario referirse a una de las bandas que tuvo bajo su sello: Happy Mondays, vuelve tras quince años de silencio. Debo confesar que esta banda símbolo de la escena Manchester, es una de mis favoritas. Vuelve en realidad con menos de la mitad de los integrantes originales de la banda, entre ellos el guitarrista Mark Day. En Unkle Dysfunctional la voz de Shaun Ryder en esencia es la misma de siempre, pero se le nota un poco los años (de bar, de juerga, de trasnoche, de drogas...). While the Stone Roses were based in '60s pop, adding only a slight hint of dance music, Happy Mondays immersed themselves in the club and rave culture, eventually becoming the most recognizable band of that drug-fueled scene. The Mondays' music relied heavily on the sound and rhythm of house music, spiked with '70s soul licks and swirling '60s psychedelia. It was bright, colorful music that had fractured melodies that never quite gelled into cohesive songs.Unwittingly or not, Happy Mondays personified the ugly side of rave culture. 2007-06-17 11:14:00 The Happy Mondays are back - they've recorded a brand new album - their first in more than 14 years. I always appreciated their music and style that need any description. Rock, hip-hop, electronic dance music, hooks, so many reason to enjoy this stuff. Sometimes you want your old friend back, even if everything seems different now. My feeling is the same for Happy Mondays!
