2009-01-02 00:15:00 I sure wish I had something wise to say about new beginnings and all that jazz. "Yay, I don't have to work!" is as good as it gets this afternoon. We didn't do a darn thing last night. Well, I did give Windows Movie Maker a spin: a. He was fine. b. Dog ate the helmet. Fo' real. Other than that, I had to keep myself awake to go pick up Busy Girl at a party 30 minutes away at 1am. Today has been lazier than lazy. I may or may not still be in my pajamas, I'll never tell. The automotive fairy visited yesterday. I got a brand new set of tires and wonder of wonders, the mystery noise disappeared. I promise it wasn't a road (as in tires on pavement) noise when I asked you about it. I have no idea what happened, I didn't ask the mechanic, I didn't point it out lest it cost more. However you slice it, the car's not making the racket and I no longer feel like I'm about to die a tire-related fire-y death when I drive, so it's all good. Almost good to go for my tr...

2009-01-01 04:39:00 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!WOW, I say this every year but damn did this year flew by. I'm glad to still have the blog and thankful for all the visitors aswell. We went threw a bit of a rough patch when the blog got deleted but I quickly redeemed myself got a new layout and my own domain. The blog also hit some new highs: More then 62,000 visitors in one day, and more then 8,500,000 total views! I couldn't be any happier and I'm hoping 2009 is even better. 2009-01-01 01:51:00 Experimenting with long exposures to capture fire works. My Pentax has a B (for Bulb) Mode that keeps the exposure open for as long as you hold the button down. Trying to keep the camera steady for this hand held shot was a challenge but the camera was pressed firmly against the glass window (This also cut out unecessary reflections)

In 2008 I was ridiculously busy and often lost track of time, ending the day without completing an important item on my to-do list. Dry cleaning left at Zips for 30 days...Goodwill donations left in the trunk for months..I could go on! I am SO happy that I found Pretty Bitters' "I will do one thing today" post-it notes. I plan to use them daily and stick them on my Macbook. Happy 2009!

Unfortunately, for many not such a good year financially.Retirement accounts, savings, home values are pretty much down across the board. Layoffs are compounding and unless we can get people back to work, more will lose their homes, savings and most likely benefits such as health insurance coverage. None of this is good news and will start 2009 on a down note.On the upside, we have a new president coming into office, and he has hopefully engaged the right brain power to begin to turn things around over the coming months.On the upside, if you have a steady job and good credit, opportunities abound with the ability to refinance at a low rate and buy stocks and property at sale prices. If only the majority of people fit into this bracket!So, my wishes for the coming year are job creations, a consumer confidence rebound, health care reform and not an excessive amount of tax increases. Also, less war worldwide would be a very welcome change...
