Hasselt heeft eigen Hasselter Dialect Woordenboek
2008-11-10 12:32:00 Een beetje dialect heeft een eigen woordenboek. Maar dat gold tot nu toe niet voor het voor het Hasselts. Toch is de streektaal die in Hasselt wordt gesproken weer anders dan die in de rest van de omgeving. Een aantal leden van de Historische Vereniging Hasselt heeft daarom het initiatief genomen om zelf het Hasselter Dialect Woordenboek te maken. Het woordenboek wordt morgen tijdens de jaarlijkse dialectavond van de dialectclub in Hasselt gepresenteerd. Tijdens Het Overijssels Hart waren initiatiefnemers Van Dijk en Overmars van het woordenboek te gast. Dat interview is hieronder te horen. Exquisa in Hasselt Hopes to Re-Open

A group of people are looking at possibilities to re-open the restaurant.So great is the public interest that people are raising money to help the girls.Binnenkort toch 'ons restaurant'? En dan dé hamvraag: Gaat Exquisa terug open? De onderhandelingen zijn volop aan de gang. De huisbaas, de bank, de boekhouder en wijzelf proberen samen tot een oplossing te komen. Crossover Crosswalk paint Hasselt Zebra Crossings
2007-12-19 15:56:00 A Hasselt resident who arranged for 19 zebra crossings in Hasselt to be painted in fun designs was ordered by the judge on Tuesday to restore them to their original state as they break traffic rules ("inbreuk op het wegverkeerreglement").Whilst many local people found the designs of art project Crossover Crosswalk original and fun, the judge found that children were looking at the designs rather than concentrating on the traffic.For each day that the zebra crossings are not restored to their original black and white, a fine of 100,000 ? is due. The International Herald Tribune wrote, "A Dutch duo that rejects function, with flair". The New York Times has also followed the work of Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel, so called Studio Job. They have designed commissions for Bisazza, Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum and Swarovski. Their work is to be found in the Groningen Museum, Stedelijk Museeum in Antwerpen and the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. Brandweer Hasselt in 'Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden'
2007-09-24 13:35:00 Stel je bent een film aan het maken en je hebt brandweer nodig, wie bel je dan? Steeds vaker komen de filmers uit bij de brandweer in Hasselt. Het begon allemaal met de opnames voor het tv-spotje 'Werken bij het rijk', waarbij de brandweer van Hasselt werd gevraagd om mee te werken. Inmiddels staat de brandweer ingeschreven bij een heus castingbureau en komen er steeds meer opdrachten. Zo is de brandweer volgend jaar te zien in een speelfilm en vanavond in een aflevering van de soap 'Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden'. Jongeren uit Hasselt helpen vluchtelingen in Bosnië
2007-07-31 13:43:00 Door middel van sport en spel kinderen in vluchtelingenkampen helpen. Dat zijn 9 jongeren uit Hasselt op dit moment aan het doen in Bosnië. Ze zijn lid van het zogenoemde Team ESKA, wat staat voor Extreme SKate Activities. Vorig jaar is er voor het eerst een groep in één vluchtelingenkamp in Bosnië geweest, dit jaar bezoeken de jongeren verschillende kampen. Ze zijn er nu ruim een week.
