Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to play Nolan Bushnell in Paramount Pictures upcoming biopic entitled Atari. According to Variety, the film will be written by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman.The project will take a hard look at Nolan, credited for creating the video game empire known as Atari. He was the man behind PONG and the Atari 2600, as well as the Chuck E. Cheese franchise. Bushnell has long been courting a film about his life, but it was Hecker and Sherman that convinced the man that they could do justice to this very unique story. I finally got a chance to see Jumper last night. Contrary to critics and many posts on the web, I liked it.First, a disclaimer. I have a business relationship with one of the movie's executive producers - Ralph Vicinanza's agency represents my novels (I have five published so far). Plus, I've worked with Vince Gerardis, also an executive producer of Jumper. And Steven Gould, an acquaintance, wrote the novel of the same name upon which the movie was based.So, take my praise of Jumper with the above grains of salt if you like, but I nonetheless liked the movie - a lot - and here's why:It was an unusual and therefore refreshing mix of scales in a movie. This is the second movie the low key love birds have starred in. The last movie was Jumper. They have been dating for a while now but none have ever confirmed the rumours that they are. We are glad to see Rachel did not take the route her former O.C cast mate Mischa Barton took. Despite the fact that "Jumper" has been receiving tepid reviews, the film starring Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson has been tearing up the box office, taking in $27.2 million over the weekend in the number one spot. The film's star, Hayden Christensen, did his best James Dean impression for the cover of Details magazine and although I do think the pictures are good, I feel like the whole "recreating Hollywood icons" bit is kind of getting played out. The thin, young couple with a penchant for skinny black jeans arrived at the Fiumicino Airport and spent the evening dining at Romana. Sure, it looks almost exactly like a rejected poster for the Matrix sequels, but those posters were cool. Jumper has had relatively little attention, despite hitting UK cinemas early next year, but we’re very encouraged by everything we’re seeing on this story of young man (Hayden Christensen) with powers of teleportation. The trailer, which was released yesterday (see it here), has a great feel to it and special effects used in the way they should be: to realise things that can’t be created any other way. SOURCE
