Sector analysis: Healthcare
2008-07-17 01:00:00
Sector analyst Jim Farrish (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2193) sees potential in the healthcare area, noting, "The best plays are in pharmaceuticals and biotech area." In his SectorExchange.com (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2193) service, the advisor assesses the impact of the upcoming election on the industry, as well as the top sector funds for investors seeking exposure to various healthcare sectors."The outlook for the healthcare sector has been mixed over the last 6-9 months. Part of this is the election and the concerns relative to which part is going to win the election in October. "While the impact will not be immediate the market is trading in anticipation of the event. Remember markets trade looking forward not backwards."If the Democrats win the hope is for more research into new drugs. That outlook is pushing money towards the biotech sector. In addition big pharma is struggling due to the outlook of the Democratic party want...

How Ted’s healthcare would kill him
2008-06-05 18:47:00
From the New York Post today: Of course, with his wealth and power, Kennedy would get good treatment anywhere. But the same care is available to every American. Not so - if we make the health “reforms” called for by Kennedy and other liberals. Filmmaker Michael Moore gives their standard line when he says: “There are problems in all health-care systems, but at least Europeans and Canadians have a health-care system that covers everyone.” Problem is, governments that promise to “cover everyone” always wind up cutting corners simply to save money. People with Kennedy’s condition are dying or dead as a result. Consider Jennifer Bell of Norwich, England. In 2006, the 22-year-old complained of headaches for months - but Britain’s National Health Service made her wait a year to see a neurologist. Then she had to wait more than three months before should could get what the NHS decided was only a “relatively urgent” MRI scan. Three...

Hillary Clinton: ?I will be making no decisions tonight? on Quitting the Ra
2008-06-04 06:46:00
So, I’ve already analyzed Obama’s speech which was given shortly after Clinton’s following speech.  She had been expected to suspend her campaign and acknowledge that Obama had reached the “magic number,” but not actually concede, but she didn’t even do that.  She just said, “I’ll talk it over and decide later” essentially.  Here’s the speech: Thank you. Thank you so much. ...

Review Revolution 3D Drink Reviews, Super Fruits, White Tea, Vitamins, Anti
2008-05-29 10:12:00
The Revolution 3D it is in a can 12 Fl OZ a nice looking can with colorful art that is very appealing. For some reason I do like when a product looks appealing with attractive colors, pictures and graphics. This product looks nice with pretty colors on the cans. I drank a can in the morning I felt like I got an energy boost instantly. Along with that my mind is clearer to get me into work mode. Something about drinking it made me feel better with improving my mood. Maybe it all the super fruit, multi vitamins and white tea that has something to do with that. Revolution 3D the flavors are Green Apple, Pomegranate, Mango and Blueberry. All the flavors are very great tasting but my favorite is the Green Apple. Probably because I am a big fan of green apple flavor for everything but it hard to find that flavor in a beverage form like this. The green apple reminds me eating a green apple or even eating piece of candy but it is healthy drink. About the product 3D blends super fruits, pr...
Tenet Healthcare (THC) Trade - One Last Surge Should Do It

There are two things that immediately come to mind about our Tenet Healthcare (THC) stock pick (so far). The first is, it’s been profitable. The second thing is, it’s been one wild ride. The ups and downs have been wide enough to make a sailor seasick. Good news though….I think one more good runup like ...
Omega Healthcare (OHI): Right REIT for healthy returns
2008-05-28 07:00:00
"Housing starts have swooned, foreclosures have jumped and home prices saw their steepest drop in 26 years," notes income expert Carla Pasternak (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2049), who nevertheless is suggesting a real estate investment. In her industry-leading High Yield Investing (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2049) she explains, "Our money-making opportunity isn't based on the housing market; rather, it's with a REIT -- Omega Healthcare Investors (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=ohi) (NYSE: OHI (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=ohi))."REITs and housing are both real estate, but that's where the likenesses begin and end. Property-holding equity REITs invest in commercial real estate. And commercial properties continue to generate steady cash flow from rental income, thanks to long-term leases."Above-average dividends are what allow REITs to pack a punch. Rethink the Fight against Cocaine
2008-05-26 21:40:00
International Crisis Group When Plan Colombia (the multibillion dollar US assistance program targeted at curbing drug smuggling and supporting Colombia against armed guerrillas) started, coca was cultivated in 12 of Colombia's 34 provinces. Today it is grown in 23 of those provinces. In 2006, after five years of Plan Colombia, four years of the regional Andean Counterdrug Initiative, and after spending $5.5 billion, some 1,000 metric tons of cocaine were produced between Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. That's about the same amount that was produced in 2002 when President Álvaro Uribe took office. The head of the White House Office of Narcotics and Drug Control Program, John Walters, admitted at a press conference in Haiti recently that last year that cocaine production had risen to 1,400 metric tons in 2007 – a whopping 40 percent hike. Not surprisingly, his staff is scrambling to rephrase that. Washington is focusing on the mos...

Mobile Healthcare Services
2008-05-22 17:59:00
22 May 2008As the morning brightens the day, I rushed myself to my Aunt's place to bring my Grandmother for her regular medical appointment. Since I am having a long vacation now, I thought it was a good idea to relieve my Aunt.At 8.40am sharp, 3 personnels from APAC Mobile Healthcare Services came. They carried Grandmother on a mat and placed her on a stretcher. After loading the stretcher into the ambulance, the maid and I tagged along. This was the first time I sat in an ambulance, albeit a private one. This ambulance was driven by a crew of dedicated and passionate staff. Through my observation, I find that they are very detailed and meticulous. Really admire their professionalism. The usual limelight on the healthcare industry falls on the well-qualified doctors, professional nurses, and emergency rescue personnels. They are the heroes in numerous dramas and movies. Yet, few would look up to these diligent group of people that delivers immobile patients to and fro hospitals.APAC...

Healthcare Support Services is Pennsylvania’s premier medical billing service. Since 1993, providers have relied on Healthcare Support Services for all of their medical billing service and practice management needs. Our services now extend nationwide. Healthcare Support Services submits HIPAA Compliant electronic insurance claims to participating insurance carriers.Today’s medical practices run at a hectic pace.  Most have a difficult time keeping up with the day-to-day tasks of patient care and running an office.  They simply do not have the time or resources needed to keep current with today’s ever-changing HIPAA rules and regulations.

Health Insurance vs. Socialized Healthcare
2008-05-16 11:23:00
Kevin Freking has written an interesting 7 part article over on ehealthhelp.com. His article discusses the pro's/cons of Health Insurance Plans vs a socialized system. Freking specifically discusses the various platforms of the political parties (and differences within the party) of America, and what they hope to accomplish. I live in Canada, and we have socialized health care. Although, I am not very clear on how there health care works. I cringe at the idea of possibly dying because of an inability to afford health care. Canada is actually in the process of working out a 2-Teir health system. It is an attempt to leverage both benefits of health insurance and socialized health care. One of the drawbacks, we face in Canda (as compared to the US), is very long wait times in our hospitals. Since health care is funded by our taxes and available to everyone, it gets a lot of utilization, and certains costs (such as Doctors salaries may have limits. Regardless, I still feeling extrem...
Are Cell Phones the New Cigarette?
2008-05-16 03:18:00
There is still a great deal of controversy surrounding the role of cell phones in cancer development. The cell phone industry insists that cell phones are safe, and conflicting scientific evidence hardly refutes their claim. Only time will tell if the cell phone is the new cigarette. So, what does the research ...
Healthcare Workers Week? HUH.....
2008-05-15 09:39:00
Is it just here at my hospital or is everyone celebrating Health care Workers Week 2008? Tonight there was cake and other food items being brought around to the different departments for this particular week. This happens to be Health care workers week 2008, now I don't remember a version of this for 2007 or any year prior to this year. Is it a new thing we get to add on to our calendar as a hospital worker.Really this isn't a bad thing, we got cake, pens, sticky notepads, and from what the hospital grapevine is saying we are getting a rolling cooler that can hold 36 cans of your favorite beverage. You can't get much better than that. Maybe this can make up for nothing being done for us up here in my small hospital for Respiratory Care week 2007.Has anyone ever stopped and looked at all the so and so special weeks, months and days there happens to be in a hospital? Seriously there are a lot and just for an example here are some of them I see posted on walls and flyer's:Nur...

Review Zone Perfect Diet Bars Flavor Dark Chocolate Almond Bar, ZonePerfect
2008-05-12 15:52:00
My Review: I have always been a fan of Zone Bars reminds me of rice crispy bars. I have been eating them for many years with trying many flavors. Normally I have my favorite flavors usually stick with them with sometimes trying the new ones. They have new flavor called Dark Chocolate Almond of Zone Perfect Bars. I am a fan of chocolate and almonds together so I had to try it. I bought this product at a store. I think the packaging is very appealing with the gold and brown it caught my attention to try it too it tastes so good. Bars tastes like dark chocolate with the pieces of almonds really makes it so great. It feels like I am eating this amazing naughty chocolate dessert. It tastes so unhealthy but it is a healthy bar with 12 grams of protein, 19 vitamins and minerals. I eat them during the week because I don?t have time to cook anymore it gives me energy to work. They are filling I am not hungry after eating them at all. Great when I have a sweet tooth for chocolate this bar wo...
Manufacturers Tighten their Grip on the Drug Supply Chain
2008-05-12 13:00:00
Ideally drug supply should be a simple and transparent chain that connects the manufacturer and patient in as few steps as possible. However, in practice it can be a highly circuitous one that includes several intermediaries before reaching a pharmacy. Notwithstanding the possibility that drug integrity can be compromised in transit, complex supply chains risk ...
Health Insurance And Healthcare Payment Options Posted By : Albert Alexande

When it comes to health insurance, many people don't exactly know everything that there is to know about the subject. That only stands to reason, it is not something that is easily understood because of its complexity. Personal finance is the application of the principles of finance to the monetary decisions of an individual or family unit. It addresses the ways in which individuals or families obtain, budget, save and spend monetary resources over time, taking into account various financial risks and future life events. Components of personal finance might include checking and savings accounts, credit cards and consumer loans, investments in the stock market, retirement plans, social security benefits, insurance policies, and income tax management.

HealthCare Personnel Gadget
2008-05-07 16:55:00
Doctors and other health care personnels go high tech with PDA medical software which is made by Epocrates. This service is very useful because when you are in operating room and you do not know the history of the patient like for example the dosage and the drug reaction to his body, you can just get your PDA and open it and browse for the topic or the name of the drug and you can see what is it and how it will react in the patient system. You can also search there the meaning of a certain disease like fever and or flu and see what are the symptoms and drug to be used to combat such disease. This service is cheap and can be used using a PDA and other smart phone gadget. It is compatible with Windows Mobile Operating System and Palm OS. The price is reasonable like for one year you only have to pay $149 and for two years you have to pay $249 only. You can access more than 3,300 drugs, 1,200 diseases and hundreds of diagnostic tests. Invest yourself with this state of the art product.â...

Allarae Healthcare Inc. (ALHI.PK) Weekly Recap 5/2/08 Allarae Healthcare Inc. (ALHI.PK) - The Right Medicine at the Right Time Friday, May 2nd, 2008 “It’s cancer.” Those are two words that no one ever wants to hear. Unfortunately, by the time most people have actually heard those dreaded words, the disease has progressed to the point of being an absolute nightmare. Why? Because cancer often goes undetected for long periods. Often there is no pain, no bump, no nothing. It’s not unusual for the first symptoms to show up when the disease has spread to several parts of the body, and often that’s just too late. Allarae Healthcare Inc, (which publicly trades under the symbol ALHI) wants to empower individuals with the tools to catch such diseases early and without the help of a doctor or facility. Allarae is in the business of providing consumers with affordable personal health screening products and couples that with interactive health monitoring software. The company’s focus centers...

Maverick Healthcare
2008-05-02 08:34:00
By Alan GableSenator McCain has been campaigning quite a bit lately on health care. The latest plan is that he wishes to offer Americans a tax credit - $2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families - to purchase and hold their own health insurance. I have to assume that this credit is available each year and that it will not be a "refundable" credit. Refundable credits are those tax breaks that refund to the taxpayer more than was actually paid in if the application of the credit results in the taxpayer having a negative tax liability (which means the government owes them). Anyway, these are a few of my thoughts on this "plan".$5000 is a massive tax credit for the average middle class family. This would almost certainly wipe out any tax liability they have. It would force families to choose between their employer's group health coverage or purchasing health insurance on their own. I would guess that the net dollar effect would come close to breaking even but McCain's tax c...

So, a tax cut is pandering. Government provided healthcare isn’t?
2008-04-30 22:13:00
Hillary Clinton has now joined John McCain in proposing the most irresponsible policy idea of the year—an idea that actually could aid the terrorists. What’s worse, both of them know that suspending the federal gas tax this summer is a terrible pander, and yet they’re pushing it anyway for crass political advantage. So moans Jonathan Alter, who never met a government giveaway he didn’t like, at least before now. And what is his biggest objection? It’s not socialist enough. It’s a direct transfer of money from motorists to oil companies, which are getting ready this week to again report record obscene profits Profit, of course, is a dirty word. Yet, two points of the many Alter misses, are; 1: Where is the money for exploration of more oil, and other energy to come from, if not from their profits, Jon? 2: In terms of percentage, the oil companies are actually making a far smaller profit on their product than is just about any other company grouping in...
