Put On Your Dancing Shoes And Live a While Longer!
2007-12-05 20:12:00
Did you know that the most viewed video on You Tube is Evolution of Dance?  As of this date, it's had 67,022,550 views and 85,479 comments.   There's just something about the motions and rhythms of dance that make us happy and feel alive, whether we're in the dance jam or watching Dancing With the Stars.  Dr. Mark Liponis, author of Ultra-Longevity, author of the bestseller Ultra-Preventio-n, and Medical Director of Canyon Ranch explains why.Dance is a type of exercise and exercise is the number one antiaging medicine.  That's a pretty strong statement, but Dr. Liponis says the research stands behind it.  Dance and other forms of rhythmic movement benefit the cardiovascular system, which in turn boosts the immune system.  Studies also have revealed that dance lowers C-Reactive Protein (CRP), a marker of inflammation in the body, perhaps indicating diabetes, hypertension, or cardiovascular disease. Rhythm is within. ...
The Miuro - The Geekiest Way To Hear Music
2007-09-30 21:46:00
No these are not dumb-bells, but that's a good idea - with a volume limiter so you have to lift them to hear the music. Hmm ... Anyway, these aren't those - these are the answer to every technophobes dream. Namely, music all around the house without faffing about with unreliable and unfriendly wireless hi-fi.The Miuro (short for "music innovation based on utility robot technology") is basically a speaker dock ... but one with a terribly interesting twist. It's a robot. Made by ZMP Inc, who made the Nuvo, the Miuro is designed to follow you around so that you can always hear your music despite gadding about from room to room on various domestic errands. It dances, responds to 'come hither' commands from a wireless remote and has sensors and a camera to avoid obstacles. It's got an iPod dock on the back, or can stream music from a PC.You're right - the drain created by the speakers, motors and Wi-Fi probably means that the 14 inch long egg-shaped Miuro won't be following you do...

The Beach Boys - I Can Hear Music (1969)
2007-08-03 08:30:00
Beginning their career as the most popular surf band in the nation, the Beach Boys finally emerged by 1966 as America's pre-eminent pop group, the only act able to challenge (for a brief time) the overarching success of the Beatles with both mainstream listeners and the critical community. From their 1961 debut with the regional hit "Surfin," the three Wilson brothers -- Brian, Dennis, and Carl -- plus cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine constructed the most intricate, gorgeous harmonies ever heard from a pop band. With Brian's studio proficiency growing by leaps and bounds during the mid-'60s, the Beach Boys also proved to be one of the best-produced groups of the '60s, exemplified by their 1966 peak with the Pet Sounds LP and the number one single "Good Vibrations." Though Brian's escalating drug use and obsessive desire to trump the Beatles (by recording the perfect LP statement) eventually led to a nervous breakdown after he heard Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, ...
