YAY!To test drive this formula, I sculpted a figure of Nariko from Heavenly Sword for The Clubhouse 53rd Sculpting Jam. It's a slight departure from making the usual anime figure, but this was fun...so much fun!That and mostly I'm still giddy from excitement because I've finally found a wax recipe (and ingredients) that works!! :))I am poor at documenting my progress. 2007-12-30 03:53:00 I will start out this review of Heavenly Sword for the PS3 by saying that if you like any sort of action games, this is for you. Heavenly Sword combines a traditional hack and slash action game with stylized ninja style combat as well as God of War like timing attacks. In the game you are Nariko, the daughter of the leader of your "clan". You are the only one that can use the Heavenly Sword, so you must save your people. There are a lot of cutscenes in this game, but man do they look good. It may seem boring to some, but I would think this game as an interactive movie more than a video game. Combat is fairly simple, a button for different types of attacks. The cool thing is that when you hold L1 and press attack buttons, you use a variety of ranged attacks. When you hold R1, you do stronger but slower attacks. And when you don't hold either, you do fast attacks. This makes for a great variety of gameplay styles. 2007-07-26 21:57:00 Heavenly Sword is one of those rare, built-from-the-ground-up PlayStation 3-exclusive titles, and as such, great (graphical at least) feats are expected. The 996MB demo was released today for download over PlayStation Network, but does it deliver that elusive AAA experience? Kinda. Graphically, the detail impresses. Great lighting, draw distance and textures are all there, but... Screen tearing is very visible (I was playing at 720p) and the frame rate chugs. Combat animation is not quite as fluid as God of War and the dodge animation is particularly clunky. In the four minutes of gameplay, there are two separate Quick Time Events (QTEs) that serve to link the two featured combat arenas together. If this technique is copied and pasted throughout the whole game though, the experience could get very samey, very quickly. The combat is fun, satisfying, relatively deep and looks good. Several combos exist within the three interchangeable fighting styles, but even so, struggles to ma...
