The Intensity of Propagation and Gramscian "Hegemony" of the Al-Durah Hoax
2008-06-04 23:35:00
A rather good Wall Street Journal editorial of 5-27-2008, shows that even those with good intentions get taken in by the al-Durah myth. The Journal writes that:The iconic image of the terrified child crouching behind his father helped sway world opinion against the Jewish state and fueled the last Intifada. If we actually look at the film we see that the boy is crouching in front of his father. The father is next to the wall. The boy is more exposed than the father is to shooting coming from anywhere on a 180 degree arc [that is, within a semi-circle] based on the outermost point of the barrel and on a vertical plane parallel to the wall. This mistake by even a fair-minded observer shows how the myth created by Gaza Arab cameraman Talal Abu Rahma, by France2 correspondent Charles Enderlin, and by countless Islamic jihadist and pro-Arab Western propagandists ["journalists"] has the power to cause the highly visible empirical fact that the boy crouches in front of his father to be ove...
CIA: China?s military could get ?adversarial
2008-05-09 20:45:00
China?s rise is posing serious challenges and its military buildup and international behavior could produce an ?adversarial? relationship with the world, CIA Director Michael V. Hayden said last week. ?After two centuries of perceived Western hegemony, China seems to be determined to flex its muscles,? Hayden said. Read More…
US policy has reached 'a point where its global hegemony could be opposed b
2008-04-16 10:57:00
From: BOOK REVIEW: When America intervenes by Khaled Ahmed   The book by John Quigly puts together the catalogue of America's interventionist adventures and misadventures abroad which has made it hated among the states of the world albeit without lessening its influence.Exercising the US role of 'master of the situation', President Theodore Roosevelt claimed a right to intervene in any Latin country that defaulted on its public debt. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson sent the Marines to occupy the Dominican Republic, arguing that Germany, which was conducting operations in the Atlantic Ocean, might take it over if the US stayed out. In 1846, the US president asked Congress to declare war on Mexico, telling it that Mexico had invaded US territory and 'shed American blood on American soil'.In November 1918, when the armistice ending the war was signed with Germany, the allied troops in Russia thought they would be able to go home. But Wilson left them there to f...
The End Of American Hegemony - AntiWar
2008-02-19 00:41:00
AntiWar, the website against the Iraq War and violent conflict in general, has an article worthy of note called "Can The US Brace Its Fall?" It asks if America is ready for a world where it's no longer the most influential nation. My response is that it depends. I think we are if we elect leaders who recognize America's new, more complex position in the World. Senator Barack Obama does; Senator Clinton and certainly Senator McCain far less so. If we can get the "hawk" element of U.S Government under control and adopt a more intelligent and less "cowboyish" and power-hungry approach, we can do this. The 2008 Presidential election will tell much for the future.
CPI for Third Front to end Congress, BJP political hegemony: Bardhan
2008-02-03 11:37:00
Communist Party of India General Secretary A. B.Bardhan today said that his party is keen about forming a "third alternative" to neutralise the  bipolar political arrangement espoused by both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. "There are attempts by both Congress and BJP to make it a bipolar political system which, in our view, is unhealthy. There are so many regional parties in India," Bardhan told reporters here. "A third alternative is all the more necessary since Congress and BJP, which ruled the country alternatively, have failed to safeguard the interests of the people, whose conditions have deteriorated," Bardhan added. To a query, the CPI leader said his party is only supporting the UPA government at Centre from outside on the basis of a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and whenever the government deviated from CMP, CPI would oppose it. Ridiculing Centre's claim about 9.6 per cent economic growth, he said it was not reflected in ...

China?s paths to hegemony
2008-01-17 15:03:00
In a wider context, China’s soft power seems integral to what may be a campaign to revive the Middle Kingdom, the China of yesteryear that dominated Asia. Chinese armies won’t march across international borders but rather Beijing seeks to acquire such political, economic and diplomatic clout that major decisions in every Asian capital will require ...
Father of Reaganomics: Nothing Can Be Done To Save Economy

This morning I came across an interesting article by Paul Craig Roberts in the Coastal Post. Who is Dr. Roberts? He is an economist who served as an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration, and is known as the ?Father of Reaganomics.? Outside of the public sector, he was a former editor ...
Consolidating Transatlantic Economic Hegemony
2007-11-19 16:43:00
By Henning Meyer Widely unnoticed by the media on both sides of the Atlantic, the European Union and the United States agreed a new “Framework for Advancing Transatlantic Economic Integration” earlier this year. A brainchild of the German EU presidency, the framework’s main aims are twofold: internally, the new cooperation should enhance EU and US competitiveness. ...
Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance ??????:?????????

Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance??????:?????????Metrop-olitan Books | ISBN 0805074007 | 2003 Edition | PDF | 200 Pages | 1 MBNoam Chomsky is considered the father of modern linguistics. In this richly detailed criticism of American foreign policy, he seeks to redefine many of the terms commonly used in the ongoing American war on terrorism. Surveying U.S. actions in Cuba, Nicaragua, Turkey, the Far East and elsewhere over the past half a century along with the modern American war in Iraq, Chomsky indicates that America is just as much a terrorist state as any other government or rogue organization. George W. Bush's 2003 invasion of Iraq drew worldwide criticism, in part because it seemed to present a new philosophy of pre-emptive war and an appearance of global empire building. But according to Chomsky, such has been the operating philosophy of American foreign policy for decades. Opponents of the Bush administration's tactics consistently point out how t...
20 per cent of democrats want U.S. to lose Iraq war. Anti-hegemony
2007-10-05 21:19:00
The good news is that 80% of Democrats want to win. Great! Only about 13% of Americans are losers. The commentary that follows only applies to the Chomskyite left. NEW YORK — Nearly one out of every five Democrats thinks the world will be better off if America loses the war in Iraq, according to the FOX News Opinion Dynamics Poll released Thursday. The percentage of Democrats (19 percent) who believe that is nearly four times the number of Republicans (5 percent) who gave the same answer. Seven percent of independents said the world would be better off if the U.S. lost the war. => Read more!
The death knell of U.S. Dollar hegemony in wretched excess of Materialistic
2007-09-21 06:01:00
"We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war is nearing its end. It has cost a vast amount of treasure and blood....It has indeed been a trying hour for the Republic; but I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war. God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless..."U.S.-Middle East conflict conspiracy - petrodollar warfare (45 min)Notice the difference? Religious Hegemony and Human Rights
2007-07-10 11:47:00
What would Jesus do is a popular wristband that many Christian youth wear. It is supposed to remind Christians about how they should behave and act in life’s situations in the light of the example set by Jesus. So it is interesting to read about the face off between the Roman Catholic Church and the human rights organization Amnesty International where the Catholic Church has advised Catholics not to fund Amnesty. AI currently does not receive any funding from church bodies but individual Catholics do give a fairly large sum to AI and if they were to heed the Vatican’s advice, the institution would be affected. As is often the case in the West, the issue concerned that of abortion. The Roman Catholic Church is “pro-life,” which is to say, vehemently anti-abortion as we all know, but no matter what, is it such a great idea — given a) its own long history on the wrong side of human rights, and b) its more recent concern with human rights, including opposition to the death pe...

Indonesia Struggles Against TNI Hegemony
2007-07-04 10:24:00
Although Indonesia's government has committed to reforming the Indonesian military (TNI) territorial command structure, which allows the armed forces to maintain units down to the village level throughout the country, this apparatus has actually been reinforced in the name of "counterterrorism."In late May, Indonesian Marines killed four farmers in a land dispute. Bambang Widodo Umar, a lecturer at the University of Indonesia, argued in the Jakarta Post that the shootings show "TNI structural reform is not working. Conflicts between the military and civilians are happening everywhere. The TNI should not be involved in everything. Let law enforcement institutions, such as the police and the courts, be responsible for law enforcement."A 2004 law mandated the government's taking over TNI businesses, but that process is moving slowly at best. In February, Human Rights Watch said Jakarta's foot-dragging on the issue "undermines civilian control over the TNI and fuels human rights abus...

China challenges U.S. hegemony
2007-02-07 05:29:04
China’s experiment can be interpreted as meaning that the country, which has been modernizing its military, has stepped closer to the level of the United States and Russia in space development. One of the reasons the United States reacted sensitively to the experiment is that China showed its potential to soon become a rival in space, which Washington has effectively dominated since the end of the Cold War. As part of its military transformation, Washington has made a high priority of network-centric warfare (NCW), which was evident with the 2003 Iraq war. NCW is a tactical method used to efficiently and quickly defeat enemies by connecting intelligence obtained from reconnaissance satellites and unmanned aircraft through advanced telecommunication systems for the use of precision-guided weapons. If satellites, which make up the base of NCW, are attacked, the U.S. military’s operational capability will be seriously damaged and the tactics will be useless. Link to this a...
Viagra, Cialis, Levitra — The Hegemony In A Multi-Billion Dollar Mark

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a disease that has plagued mankind for centuries. However due to its embarrassing nature and the shame felt by sufferers, the subject was taboo for a long time and still continues to be an uncomfortable topic today. In the past, the Latin term impotentia coeundi simply meaning the inability to insert ...
