2008-02-14 22:18:00 I'm back to the one room cabin in the mountains but it would have to be in Arizona because I can't stand the snow and ice.I'm just generally fed up with the world, the rat race and the pursuit of the American Dream as it is defined by shopping conglomerates and multinational corporations that want to run my life.I need a bed, a $499 laptop to write my novels, a desk with a chair, a lamp, a stove with a cast iron frypan, a tea pot and a small fridge for the beer. Oh yeah, a radio and a cell phone. The cast iron pot is for the eggs and bacon and rice and beans I plan to live on.I can rip all my CDs to mp3 format and use the laptop and a pair of headpones for my music.I need some clothes and some hiking boots and I dont need much more. I will drive my F-150 pickup truck to the nearest Library when I want to use their wireless to send email or surf the Net. Otherwise I will just text message on the cell.I dont need a TV and a newspaper is the last thing I want to see.

2008-01-29 20:27:00 I'm finally starting to feel ready to venture out into the world again. I'm a little nervous, but I've got to do it sooner or later. I'm going to take baby steps though. I don't want to overwhelm myself on my first venture and ruin what progress I've made to this point. I'll have to figure out where to go. Someplace small and quiet. Hermit Crab?
2007-08-07 04:19:00 I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a hermit crab or three. Anyone hear have them? From what I have read they require 70-80% humidity. Here in Utah, it’s dry as the desert. Okay, it is the desert, so I’m not sure how to keep them that humid. The temp wouldn’t be a problem 70F ish, because I could get a lamp to keep the tank warm. If anyone knows anything about hermit crabs let me know. I would prefer to adopt, of course, rather than buy. And I want to do as much research as possible so I know what I’m getting into. I’d really like to keep them at work for my work team, if possible. But then they would be alone on the weekends.

He (she?) likes it when I run him under the faucet and give him a shower. He comes out of his shell when I pick him up. He must be able to tell it's me. Must be my handling. Anyway, I thought you might like to see a picture! Yea! This is the first time I have ever seen this, too. It is no big deal. It is just his exoskeleton. They have to shed this in order to grow. Also, I found out that they eat it. Yep. Eat it. So, I put all the pieces back in the tank for him to eat. Don't let the picture fool you. His big claw there is not even the size of a dime. You should see him now, he is all pink and cute. Not all hard and brown like he used to be. And, from what I gather, it takes 10 days or so for his new shell to harden up. Well, enjoy the picture! :) Hey, anyone up for some buttered crab legs?

I keep waiting for him to come home... like "oh, I'll wait a little longer and decide what to have for dinner when Andy comes home." But of course he never does, and then I never get dinner. Before he left he did give me something to 'remember him by' a nasty sinus infection... which probably contributed to my not enjoying the lovely weather. Also?
