How to create High Dynamic Range (HDR) images
2008-05-11 11:18:00 “What you need: 1. A digital camera that allows you to set exposure manually. 2. A sturdy tripod. 3. A subject (i.e., what you’re taking the picture of) that does not move. 4. A computer with Photoshop CS2 or higher installed.” “If you have a camera that supports it, it also helps to have a “cable release”, which is basically ...
High Dynamic Range...A Few Links
2008-04-27 21:53:00 HDRI have my own down and dirty method. Let's take a look at a few sites with How-To Tutorials on producing HDR image files in the field.www.stuckincustoms.com has a nicely detailed recipe for producing HDR images with Photomatix, Photoshop and Lightroom. He also has a discount coupon for readers purchasing the Photomatix software. Please visit his site to find the coupon if you want to see some great HDR images and get a deal on software.www.cambridgeincolour- has another more technical tutorial for the super photo geeks who want the why and how of HDR.Even if your not planning to produce images with the HDR look, the technical exercise of exposure bracketing and shooting from a tripod will guarantee you the best possible files for photos of static scenes. With a little extra work and Photoshop trickery, you can also use the same techniques to shoot people.Give it a try!

A guide to High Dynamic Range (HDR)
2008-04-11 09:43:00 “High dynamic range (or HDR) technique allows you to reveal detail and contrast that are missing from normal images. Generally, HDR is used to deal with high contrast subjects to allow you to capture more highlight and shadow detail than conventional photography ? meaning it?s great for low light/night images.”
HDR Photoshop Tutorial - Creating High Dynamic Range Images
2008-04-07 13:59:00 I just made my first high dynamic range photo today. It is most commonly referred to as an HDR photo or HDR image. What Is An HDR Photo Basically, it a single image that is made from multiple images to offer a greater range of photographic detail. The different images are usually taken with different exposure settings so that more detail may be captured in light or dark areas. Why Would You Want HDR It can complete a scene by filling in areas that are too dark or too light. You can also use it to make a photo look unrealistically cool by blowing out colors and making it look surreal. The example I will show you is for filling in a scene with more details. It is a photo taken from within a house that also wants to capture scenery outside that is a lot brighter. How To Create An HDR Photo These are the steps I took to make my HDR image. I used Adobe Photoshop CS2. You need multiple photos of the exact same scene taken at different exposure settings. My example photos are f...

High Dynamic Range (HDR) Galerie vom feinsten

Understanding HDR (High Dynamic Range)
2008-02-15 10:09:00 You may have notice I have been playing a lot with the HDRi (High Dynamic Range) technique later. I offer no excuse, I am playing, I just need to figure out how it works and how I might be able to use it. So here is my simple explanation of the general process. Note I am using FDRTools in this example because it is easier to show what is going on (I already prefer dynamic photo, see my previous post why) Step 1, Take a set of bracketed photos, (three is a good number but you can take more) at different EV exposures. Step 2, Load those photos into software that can analyse the exposure range of each photo, it is normally necessary to align the individual photos, if you use a tripod this will not be necessary. I actually rested the camera on a wall to keep it steady so i have jumped over this step. Step 3 now create a virtual photo space with a wider range of exposure range, using a composite of all intensity recorded (ie the darks from the darkest photos, ton...

More on HDR (High Dynamic Range)
2008-01-11 07:05:00 I posted last week, about the HDR or more precisely HDRi (High Dynamic Range Imaging) technique, to attempt to get a higher dynamic range into a single exposure. I was inspired enough try out what can be achieved with a few popular freeware and shareware/trial version of software, and it is time to share my finding so far. Well the first big shock was in the amount of ghosting I saw. This resulted because the images could not be superimposed adHDRequately and was mainly due to the fact that I had taken most of the bracketed exposure sets handheld (without a tripod to ensure that the images where exactly the same view). In fact some of the ghosting was so bad in many cases the final photo looks out of focus. Most packages offer some way to adjust individual exposures but most where to say the least tedious (ie more up and down one pixel with each press of the mouse or arrow key, in just horizontal and vertical directions independently). Only Dynamic Photo seems to allow rotat...

High Dynamic Range (HDR)
2007-11-08 16:26:00 An experiment that I did by playing of a few identical image with different exposure bracketing to produce one image that contains wide exposure range. A division of my company located at Port Klang. It might look quite dark and messy for those who can?t accept such gloomy scenery.Another one, which I took from my friend's apartment. To view in full size, simply click on the image.

High Dynamic Range ... Sort of !
2007-08-15 16:09:00 The Dynamic Range visible in your images is directly related to the various factors of Exposure, Lens Contrast, Film sensitivity and latitude, Color Bit Depth and most importantly the quality of the final Printed Output. Any of these choices can profoundly affect the way an image is perceived by the viewer. Master Photographer and Printer Ansel Adams used combinations of these factors to produce the richest and most luminous prints from each Photographic Situation. His work is widely known for the incredible Dynamic Range present in the Black and White Fiber Prints he made of Yosemite, Grand Tetons and other National Park Scenics. The beauty and luminosity of each Master Print dependent on all the factors of Lens Choice, Film Processing and Printing technique. Those of us shooting Digital Cameras can benefit from his wisdom and technique by using our tools with the same care and forethought as Adams would on his treks to the wilderness with an 8X10 large format Camera. It only t...

Making High Dynamic Range Images
2007-06-18 10:54:00 Feeling expansive getting HDRI from the internet? Make one yourself~! to find out more...Some more tutorials from Talking Tree and Popphoto..."Step 1. Set your tripod up (in or out of vehicle)Step 2. Look at the subject and in your mind slice it in 1/3's. Each 1/3 will be a series of bracketed shots, just like making any HDR image.Step 3. Take your shots and remember when turning your tripod to make sure there is some over laping in the picture so that when you stitch it together later it will line up correctly.Step 4. Load your HDR software and make your hdr images. I took nine. 3 for each section.Step 5. Step four upload your photos into your panoramic software, photoshop elements and photoshop include this feature. Step 6. Stitch your 3 or more images together. Step 7. Crop if need, I had to crop out the truck mirror and window and door frame. Thats it."Passage from http://waterfallhunter.blogspot-.com/2007/04/making-hdr-panoram-ic-photograph.html by Sam
