2010-07-02 00:41:00 Hilton Head Island has some of the most pristine beaches and prestigious golf courses in South Carolina, as well as the most blood-thirsty mosquitoes that I have ever encountered. Sunscreen, bug spray and a great camera are necessities for this adventure! On my first visit to Hilton Head a few years back I was a golf beginner and so Hilton Head golf was not a top priority: it was all about the sun and fun surrounding the island. My husband and I chose to stay at Sea Pines Resort, a 5,000 acre sprawling enclave of rental apartments, villa rentals, hotels and an inn spanning a third of the entire Island. The Resort is also home to Harbour Town Golf Links, home to the PGA Tour's Verizon Heritage event (congrats to Jim Furyk!) 2008-06-10 21:31:00 Well, Hilton Head has always been green in the literal sense. Lots of trees, grass, plants and of course, golf courses to enjoy. But it seems, some of our builders are catching on to the national trend of building green. At a lunch meeting today, the featured speaker was Howard Feldman, a local builder representing the areas Home Builders Associations' "Green Committee". He educated many of us on just what makes a home green and what we can do to help make existing homes greener. There are several homes on HHI that are certified "Green Homes" and it is interesting just how energy efficient they are. Of course, there is also the HGTV in the Traditions development in Jasper County, right next door. Hilton Head Island is one of natures most beautiful creations. It is always nice to learn what we can do to keep it that way!
