Remembering PN Oak: The original Hindutva historian
2008-04-04 23:40:00
Does the name of Professor Oak rings a bell? The historian who used to make claims about Taj Mahal originally being a Hindu temple and similar other assertions about Qutub Minar and many other mosques. That was the era when RSS didn't have historians, scientists, writers, journalists, doctors, academicians and other professionals in its fold. But Oak, was quite dedicated to his cause. He was mocked at, but he continued to publish his works, make such claims and write letters in newspapers.Oak died sometime back. Not many tears were shed. Perhaps, because he had become irrelevant. Or may be, the Saffron brigade now had an army of able professionals to espouse its cause in every field, much more eloquently in TV cameras.Still, one expected a few obituaries. Hardly any attention was paid to the demise of the original Hindutva Historian. The man who had founded the Institute for Writing Indian History, spent all his life, for the cause, especially in the era when Marxist historians domi...
BJP marries Hindutva with welfare

Shekhar Iyer, Hindustan Times, New Delhi, Jan 29, 2008The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday spoke of a new kind of Hindutva that would not scare away its NDA allies. With the general elections of 2009 topmost in its mind, the party’s national council decided that it will not talk about the Ram temple, Uniform Civil Code or Article 370 but would rake up issues like the destruction of Ram Sethu for a shipping canal project, the delay in the hanging of Parliament attack accused Mohd Afzal and the UPA’s religion-based affirmative actions.[snip]Comments: We can safely assume that BJP has not learned the fundamental lessons from the defeat in the previous Lok Sabha elections. The fundamental lesson BJP should have learned is that a political party cannot take its core voter base for granted and still expect to win elections. As much as Congress and leftists would like to have BJP leadership believe that the previous Lok Sabha elections were won by Congress led UPA based on uneven economi...

Modi turns paper tiger, no Hindutva on manifesto:"Modi turns paper tiger, no Hindutva on manifesto ibnlive.com TimePublished on Fri, Dec 07, 2007 at 13:48,Updated at Fri, Dec 07, 2007 in Nation » Politics section New Delhi: Despite Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's controversial hard talk, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday chose to give Hindutva a surprise miss in its election manifesto."Comments: Shouldn't CNN/IBM be happy that Modi is on economic agenda instead of religious agenda? Or are they afraid that Modi's economics based campaign will be a winner?Regardless, as a news organization, should be in the business of reporting facts or editorializing and sensationalizing news with embellishments?CNN should be ashamed to lend its name to such biased news reporting. I bet they will never write such things about Conservative Christian organizations in the USA

The 24×7 news channels are on the verge of losing all credibility with their bias now becoming a joke. With phrases like “in a shocking coincidence” they all covered an ad from the BJP questioning the commitment to Justice and Convictions in the Godhra Case, courtesy the U.C. Bannerjee Commission. If the mere mention of Godhra by ...

In the land of Hindutva
2007-07-04 04:54:00
Only thing Hindutva shares with Hinduism is a part of the name. Other than that Hindutva as an ideology is a fascist idea implanted in India. According to Former Columbia University Professor Robert O. Paxton: “Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and ...
