Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s five-day lecture series on nurturing compassion and spirituality held in Seattle, has drawn more than 144,000 listeners, a little short of 150,000 as expected by organisers, said a official of the His Holiness office at Dharmshala. In Seattle, since 11 April, His Holiness engaged in a series of conferences ...

Striving for Holiness

by Akiva at Mystical PathsShiloh commented: "Modest is fine, but who's standards? One must wear a Jewish burka? We have a heck of a lot bigger problems then this version of 'spilling the seed'!! Damn will we ever wake up, I sadly doubt it. I completely understand why so many Jews run from Torah when it's been so misrepresented by erev rav for so many years. As a dog returns to his vomit so does a fool return to his foolishness. We better wake up, and that goes for all the power hungry rabbi's."It has been taught, Gemora Niddah end of chapter 3, "An oath is administered to him [before birth, warning him]: 'Be righteous and be not wicked...'". (Opening words of Tanya)We are obligated to strive to be righteous, to literally be a kingdom of priests, a holy people. Therefore, we have mitzvot of Hashem in abundance with which to focus upon, and by doing so, by following the commands of our Father in Heaven, particularly when they differ from the desires of this world, we are right...
True forgiveness results in holiness
2008-03-12 10:45:00
It's not a weird thing to begin questioning the state of your spirit. Rather, it reflects a maturity and a willingness to open up to the Holy spirit for self-examination. Certainly it demonstrates a refreshingly humble and teachable attitude, so deficient in the hopeless, hardened souls around us . This desire to know where we are on the impurity scale, allows the Holy spirit to shine it's light inside each of us, illuminating the darkness within and proving that we really are willing to undergo transformation. Exposing our sins to the light, reveals that we are ready and willing to move out of bondage and into freedom. While repentance is the foundation for deliverance, it is wrongly associated with being forgiven for past sins which contradicts the “forgiveness of sins” in the biblical sense. God is always patiently ready to forgive our past transgressions, but it does not guarantee that we are immediately cleansed of all sins (saved). Saying sorry to God is only the first ...

You become like what you look at.It takes more of the power of the Spirit to make the farm, the home, the office, the store, the shop holy than it does to make the Church holy. It takes more of the power of the Spirit to make Saturday holy than to make Sunday holy. It takes much more of the power of the Spirit to make money for God than to make a talk for God.Cowards never won heaven. Do not claim that you are begotten of God and have His royal blood running in your veins unless you can prove your lineage by this heroic spirit; to dare to be holy in spite of men and devils.I find that both mind and body are quickly tired with intenseness and fervor in the things of God. Oh that I could be as incessant as angels in devotion and spiritual fervor. -- David BrainerdHas the luster of the infinite holiness of God ever shone upon your heart and drawn your heart to Him? And has your heart ever leaped at the sight of the brightness of His holiness? Is this why you love Him? If so, you know G...

Mocking Holiness
2008-01-30 13:19:00
by Akiva at Mystical PathsWhen the emes is laughed at, when the holy ones are being made fun of, mocked, made into a joke, then you know the time of Moshiach is very very close...Excerpts from the "lyrics"...Be warned Holy Land, of the hi definition...Gevald it's Sodom and Gemorah, HDTV it's against the Torah...Now the (inappropriate) look well, you will all go to hell,Or in Hebrew: Yishmor HoKel (G-d save us)This is a commercial for satellite HDTV service in Israel. In Israel, speech against the government can get you interrogated, speech against the Arab sector can get you investigated and publicly attacked, but speech against the Torah and the ultra-orthodox sector is perfectly acceptable. This is the worst of all levels, to disagree, to ignore, to argue, to make fun of is the worst.Support the Path! - Posted at Mystical Paths, MPaths.com.
The Way of Holiness ? Jonathan Edwards
2007-12-24 13:32:00
The Way of Holiness — Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) And an highway shall be and a way, way, it shall be called the way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. — Isaiah 35:8 This book of Isaiah speaks so much of Christ, gives such a particular account of the birth, life, miracles and passion, and ...
R. C. Sproul: The Holiness of God
2007-12-21 17:05:00
A nice little sermon on the holiness of God, attempting to capture the awe and majesty of the Lord. The Holiness of God While it is not quite as utterly shocking and terrifying as Paul Washer’s sermon on The Holiness of God, it is very good.
The beauty of Holiness
2007-12-17 19:44:00
That is how the KJV puts it at least. The ESV renders it slightly differently: Psalm 29:2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness. And: Psalm 96:9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;tremble before him, all the earth! I found it rather inspiring this morning, while listening ...

Do You Love Holiness?
2007-10-05 07:27:00
Christ will be master of the heart, and sin must be mortified. If your life is unholy, then your heart is unchanged, and you are an unsaved person. The Savior will sanctify His people, renew them, give them a hatred of sin, and a love of holiness. The grace that does not make a man ...

God Rewards Holiness

Holiness through Sanctification II – To Shine like Stars
2007-09-02 15:57:00
The purpose of each Christian is to become purged from sin spiritually. The saints, are simply those people who have become sanctified by the work of Espiritu Sanctus (The Holy spirit) Once Christ became Sanctified, he could sanctify others and in the process, make them Holy also. Christ was known as the Sanctifier, in that by “Laying on of hands” he could wipe the sins from others and so make them holy. Remember that he carried our sins and took up our infirmities. Although men's sins were atoned for symbolically by his death on the cross, Christ's most important function was to set people free from Satan's kingdom manifesting inside people, which was the result of their sin. Now, let's look at the word holy. The word originates from the Anglo Saxon Ha-lig (which is Germanic). The word means “wholeness of light”. Again we are told, the father is holy...in him there is no darkness. The father is indeed perfect and incorruptible light and he fashioned us into living spi...
Holiness through Sanctification I – An Inconvenient Truth
2007-09-02 15:54:00
Have you ever wondered why some things in the Bible make you feel even more confused? If you answer yes to the above, then you are probably one of many who are experiencing a fair bit of uncertainty over certain words that are tossed around without much consideration for historical meaning. While the bible is an essential ingredient for your deliverance journey, there are some things in scripture that the modern church is not clarifying. You cannot use illogic in your walk with God. If you are not fond of, or are unable to use reason and apply logic, then you are potentially going to fall foul of deception. There are a string of biblical concepts which are imperative to our understanding of what we should expect to get out of the faith. As the saying goes, “if you are not in business for pleasure or profit, then why are you doing it? Same applies to the faith. If you do not understand what you ought to be doing and what the rewards are, then why are you in the faith? You can't exp...

No one can seem to agree about Sodom and Gomorrah. Whether or not this destruction actually occurred (which is really irrelevant to the story) there is ...
Holiness in Cordoba
2007-06-27 03:31:00
The Mezquita (?mosque? in Spanish) in Cordoba, Spain is one of those holy places in the world that truly feels spiritual, even to the sightseeing tourist. The site was originally a mosque constructed between 785 and 787 and today shows Spain?s history of religious turmoil in beautiful architectural grandeur. The site was once the second largest mosque in the world yet today it is a Roman Catholic cathedral. Since the Spaniards destroyed most of the mosques in Spain after regaining their chunk of the Iberian peninsula from the Moors, the Mezquita is one of the last significant embodiments of Islamic power available for visitors to see today. If you can, go early in the morning before the hordes of tourists arrive. The entrance to the complex is through the Patio de los Naranjos ? a tranquil courtyard filled with orange trees and spicy fragrances. Upon entering the Mosque, most visitors stare in silent awe at the hundreds of columns supporting the expansive roof. There are more than ...

Perfecting Holiness in the fear of God
2007-04-05 04:57:00
God is Holy and He wants us to be Holy. Exodus 15:11 Psalm 99:9, Isaiah 6:3, Revelation 15:4, Leviticus 11:45, 1 Peter 1:16Our God is a consuming fire. He is not like the other gods that we see in other religions. He is God Almighty, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. He is the God who created the universe into being. He is the Lord of Lords, the king of kings, the mighty God.He sent his son to redeem us from the penalty, the power and the presence of sin. When someone knows a right to do and they don't do it, it is sin to them. Sin is missing the mark.We all have fallen short of the glory of God.Our Lord Jesus came into this world that we may live life to the fullest. Hallelujah! Praise be to God.His love is indeed amazing. He is the God of the second chance, not only the second, but even if some among us has messed up for the 10,000th time, God is still waiting to forgive and reconcile us. Our part is to repent, to be willing to turn away from our sins, confess them to him and...
Dharamsala, India - Home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama
2007-03-01 10:06:01
Photos and tips by guest author Stefan K From Delhi, the most practical mode of transportation to Dharamsala is by bus. There are two bus services (State and Deluxe) available. I opted for the deluxe bus ride. The ride to Dharamsala takes about 10 hours and goes through small, winding mountain roads. Before coming to India, I heard many horror stories of overtired bus drivers falling asleep while driving the long stretch to Dharamsala and of ill maintained buses breaking down on the route and travelers getting stranded. So I was more than a little bit concerned. I ended up getting a last minute ticket with my uncle in the back of the bus. The ride was the worst I ever took to this day! Leg room was non-existent, the bus of course had no Air Conditioning, the fans were broken, and the suspension in back needed repair. (Side Note: Always book a seat in-between the axels and not in back) Since the Deluxe bus price is more than double the price of the government bus, it makes ...

The Holiness of High Standards
2007-02-16 20:50:05
I came across a post today that almost blew my socks off! It is such an important topic, and the post was worded so perfectly. So I thought I should stop everything, and encourage you all to go read this post. Let meintroduce the post more fully, and then I’ll give you the link. William Dudding, who is a KJV using, Independant Fundamental Baptist, is also a reformer. His blog, The Reforming Baptist, deals with many of the struggles that face fundamentalists. And although we don’t always see eye to eye on every issue, I have tremendous respect for Will. He doesn’t go with the flow, and he respects God’s Word. His posts are often challenging and enriching. This post is entitled, “High Standards = Right Doctrine“. Let me give you an excerpt from the beginning of the post, and then send you off to read the rest. I remember growing up as a strict Fundamentalist Baptist that I used to think because we held to such a high standard of living, tha...

Open Letter to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI by Leading Mus
2006-10-19 08:57:04
In an unprecedented move, an open letter signed by 38 leading Muslim religious scholars and leaders around the world was sent to Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 12, 2006. The letter, which is the outcome of a joint effort, was signed by top religious authorities, Muslim leaders, Muslim scholars in the West such as Shaykh Hamza Yusuf from California, Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and Professor Tim Winter of the University of Cambridge. All the eight schools of thought and jurisprudence in Islam are represented by the signatories, including a woman scholar. In this respect the letter is unique in the history of interfaith relations. The letter was sent, in a spirit of goodwill, to respond to some of the remarks made by the Pope during his lecture at the University of Regensburg on Sept. 12, 2006. The letter tackles the main substantive issues raised in his treatment of a debate between the medieval Emperor Manuel II Paleologus and an ?educ...
