That’s what people like about Toyota’s hybrid initiative and now with all the talk of throwing the Prius badge on a new family of hybrids just makes it all the a lesser amount of confusing. Truthfully, Honda hybrids have been very confused with all the recent news of all the upcoming hybrids. Honda really hope that it will figures this out early, because they’ve got four hybrids planned to hit the market by 2015. The number two Japanese automaker just announced that it will launch a hybrid version of the Fit in its next-generation model. “The Fit has great fuel efficiency to begin with, and if it put in a hybrid, it’s going to get even better, So with crude oil prices going up this much, I think a Fit hybrid is now starting to make sense”...

2007-10-19 06:29:00 We got our first look at the next generation Honda Fit a few weeks when a couple of sites that got invited to the long-lead previews in Japan spilled the beans. Honda will be showing the the new Fit publicly for the first time next week at the Tokyo Motor Show and, unlike so many auto show debuts, there will be no six month lag between between the show and retail sales. The new Fit will go on sale in Japan on October 26 just as the Tokyo Show opens to the public. The initial reactions to the new styling has been decidedly mixed with some liking the updated look while others prefer the existing car. While the car has grown by a couple of inches in length, the crashworthiness is improved and apparently the weight has remained the same which is definitely a bonus. In Japan, buyers get a choice of 1.3L or 1.5L engines both of which offer improved fuel efficiency. The Tokyo Motor Show is coming in about a month and Honda is likely to take the wraps of the next generation of the Jazz/Fit at that time. The first official images have made their way out and you'll surely be shocked to hear that the Fit has grown by a couple of inches in length and wheelbase. The styling has a more pronounced one-box shape with a steeper windshield rake and larger windows at the base of the A-pillars. 1.3L and 1.5L engines should be available in Japan but we'll probably only see the larger one here. Although no details were revealed with the pictures, it is believed that the Fit will hit the Japanese market this winter with U.S. sales to follow in the summer of 2008. 2007-07-23 00:50:00 Following the heels of Honda's popular subcompact car hitting the 2 million sales milestone, the next-generation Fit was recently confirmed to debut in Tokyo this October. In his regular mid-term speech of what's going on at Honda, Takeo Fukui (CEO of Honda) confirmed the arrival of the next iteration of the aging Fit. The current Fit, sold as the Jazz in the European market, was introduced in 2001 and continues to generate strong sales to this date. The Fit was launched in America and Canada last April and Honda deems it a success.We have no clue as to what Honda has come up with for the next Fit, but reports say the guy in charge of the design department is Toshiyuki Okumoto. Translation? The lad who brought us (or rather the Europeans) the current Euro Civic Hatch, which looks to be ahead of its time. However, Honda has stated that only 54,000 units of the Fit will be shipped from Japan for this year. Honda expects shortages in many dealers across America as the Fit is continuously generating sales. The Fit is no doubt a hit and it has surpassed their initial sales projections by a wide margin, especially regarding the fact that the North American Fit was introduced in Japan in 2001.Jim Smail, Honda dealer council chairman, stated, "We have so much potential for that car". The rising gas prices and the increasing awareness of the global environment has tapped many consumers into downsizing to these subcompact cars.
