2009-09-11 21:08:00 The Mets have been highly criticized for their failure to honor their history, the Jackie Robinson rotunda is a striking way to enter the stadium but it is a bit much for many Mets fans. I once suggested calling it the Shea rotunda ( since he's the founding father of the team) with the Jackie Robinson Memorial and making the rotunda a little more of a mix between the Mets and Jackie. While I love the new stadium, it was a bit stark at first and they have done a good job of catching up but as the Mets always seem to be doing they came off as reactionary. After this failed season I think something they could do to take a more proactive approach to next season, aside from the actual team they put on the field is to do a better job embracing their history.
