According to MMAJunkie.com, Houston Alexander is already back in the gym with his coach Mick Doyle, trying to figure out what the hell went wrong on Saturday night and how to prevent it from ever happening again. They’ll surely be watching this video on repeat, which shows just where things fell apart. Instead of coming out swinging in his usual wildman style, Alexander calmly stalked Thiago Silva at the start of the first round before falling into a clinch.CLICK HERE

"Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is time-consuming and demanding. In order to stay on top of your game, you've got to train...a lot. You've also got to juggle that training with work, school, and maybe even a family."

IWF Exclusive: The Future Of The UFC
2007-11-11 06:18:00
Although we have a set title fight in our sights (Hughes vs. Serra), a slightly deeper look into the ranks of the UFC will give us a more accurate picture of how the sport should shape up over the next six months. While feuds and rivalries culminate in once-a-month events, the sport is built between those events as every member of the roster fights, bargains, and even pleads for a title shot. The following is a look at each division and who is fighting for the title.Heavyweights: With Andrei Arlovski missing his new contract, Cro Cop dropping fights like he was bought off, and Couture temporarily out of the fight game, the whole division is really up for grabs. It?s unlikely that White would simply award the belt to the winner of an upcoming fight as it wouldn?t make sense for Kongo or Nogueira to receive a title with very little UFC experience under their belts. He could justify giving it to Sylvia as he was the last guy to hold the belt and is fresh off a win, but I doubt he?d...
UFC’s Houston Alexander AKA Super Dad!
2007-11-07 22:14:00
Yahoo’s Kevin Lole wrote an interesting profile of Houston Alexander this month.  The article talks about Houston’s life outside of the ring and how remarkably he’s a single parent of six children, between the ages of 5 and 16 and he does it all! “Admittedly, though, the image of one of mixed martial arts’ baddest men pushing a vacuum cleaner and cleaning a toilet is priceless. “But you tell all those UFC fans, they come to my house and they’ll see me pushing that vacuum,” he says, laughing. “I’m no different than they are. I have to clean the house, too.”" You can read the full article at Yahoo!

UFC 78: Houston Alexander vs Thiago Silva
2007-11-06 14:22:00
Houston Alexander (8-1) has quickly become a ticket seller after his quick and impressive TKO's of Keith Jardine and Allesio Sakara. His abilities behind a microphone haven't hurt his public image either. At 35 Houston has suddenly found himself exactly where he wants to be, in the UFC aiming for the top of his division. His fighting style was best described by Mike Goldberg at UFC 75 "That dude is violent!". His first two UFC fights were so short it's hard to say much else. His boxing and Muay Thai looked very good, especially against the slower paced Sakara. His ground game however is completely untested on the UFC stage. His game plan for this fight is to keep it standing and work his inside game. Hopefully we'll get to see his conditioning in this fight.Thiago Silva (11-0) holds a black belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu and trains with the Chute Box team. As with most of this Brazilian team his Muay Thia is very strong and suprisingly he likes to keep his fights standing 9 of his w...
Q&A with rising UFC star Houston Alexander - 06 Nov 2007 01:04:18pm
2007-11-06 14:04:00
By Gary Herman Houston Alexander has been in the UFC for a little over five months. During that time, he defeated Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara in very impressive fashion, registering two knockouts and spending less than two total minutes in the cage. Now, Alexander prepares for his next opponent -- undefeated Brazilian slugger Thiago Silva on Nov. 17 at UFC 78. We recently sat down with Alexander to discuss the upcoming fight, how he rose so quickly in the UFC, and his views on his manager's new M-1 promotion: Q: What are your thoughts on the upcoming fight with Thiago Silva? A: It's going to be a very exciting fight. Thiago likes to come out just like I do. He wants to come right at you. Q: How long do you think the fight will go? Will it be a quick one? A: I'm not sure. It can go a minute, or it can go three rounds. It all depends on the type of fighter he wants to be. If he wants to go down quick, we can do it quick. If he wants to go down slow, we ca...

Houston Alexander “Muay Thai is No Joke” / UFC 78 Video Interview
2007-10-24 04:28:00
“Muay Thai is No Joke” - that’s what Houston had to say in response to Anderson Silva beating Rich Franklin at UFC 77.  Fight Hype met up with Houston Alexander for a video interview after the fights at UFC 77 in Cincinatti.  Among the questions asked is how Houston Alexander feels about Keith Jardine beating Chuck Liddell, as Houston Alexander dominated Keith Jardine in the first round at UFC 71.  Houston’s approach is more or less, it is what it is, and it doesn’t bother him.  He talks about his upcoming fight with Thaigo Silva, which he seems very confident about.  Regarding the next top fighter… “any body”, Houston’s willing to fight anyone… What a bad ass.  You can watch the video below.
