Texans Offensive Staff include Kubiak, Shanahan & Gibbs
2008-05-12 06:16:00
The last time a group of guys named Shanahan, Kubiak and Gibbs teamed up they ended up with a couple of rings. In 2008 this combination will try to duplicate that success. Of course, I’m referring to the Houston Texans and not our Denver Broncos and the Shanahan I listed is Kyle Shanahan ...

In The Red Zone: Patriots Considering Pacman
2008-03-09 02:00:00
The New England Patriots are reportedly interested in Tennessee Titans cornerback/suspended bad boy Adam “Pacman” Jones. Detroit, Oakland, Kansas City, Houston, New Orleans and Dallas are among those to also have expressed at least some level of interest. Jones, who was suspended all of last season, could come up for review for re-instatement prior to the NFL Draft in April. Jones who was the 6th overall pick in the 2005 draft is considered a top cover corner and is an extremely dangerous punt returner. But he is becoming more well known for his off field behavior than his actions on Sundays. He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by the Titans and was at the center of a Las Vegas strip club melee in February 2007 that left a man paralyzed. He’s currently serving three years probation, stemming from an incident in Fayette County, Ga., where he was alleged to have bitten a police officer’s hand. So the questions begs to be asked. Does “Pa...

The Longest Mock Draft in NFL History Continues...OK, I get it. Everyone loves Brett Favre. Good grief.Favre?s retirement is getting more media coverage than Hillary trying to steal the Democratic nomination by making back-room deals with Super Delegates. As far as I?m concerned, Favre was a good quarterback who never quite reached the heights his talent suggested he should. His longevity should be celebrated, but let?s not get too crazy. Fact is, Favre consistently came up small in big games over the last 10 years of his career. He had some major playoff stink bombs, including a six interception performance against the Rams and a four interception performance agai...
Breaking News: Gaffney Inks Deal To Return
2008-03-05 02:19:00
New England Patriots free agent wide receiver Jabar Gafney has signed a 1-year contract worth $2 million to return to the New England Patriots according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. Gafney came to the Patriots as a free agent on October 9, 2006 when he signed a two year contract after being released by Philadelphia after a disappointing preseason. In his two seasons in New England Gafney seemed to excel in playoff games and in clutch situations. One such incident was a last minute game winning TD catch this past season in a game in Baltimore against the Ravens to keep the Patriots undefeated. In the 2006 Playoffs he had back-to-back 100-yard games against the Jets and the Chargers with a combined 18 catches and 1 TD. Gafney was originally drafted by the Houston Texans out of the University of Florida and spent four seasons with the them.
In The Red Zone - Free Agency Day 3
2008-03-03 01:00:00
Free agents signings and other dealings, as it was kind of a slow Sunday: The Chicago Bears re-signed LB Lance Briggs to a 6-year $36 million contract with $13 million guaranteed. The Atlanta Falcons signed RB Michael Turner to six-year $34 million contract with about $15 million guaranteed. They also signed TE Ben Hartsock to a 4-year ...
A Look Back at the Houston Texans 2002 Expansion and Rookie Drafts
2008-02-28 01:08:00
The Houston Texans started off the history of their franchise with the fantasy tandem of David Carr, Jonathan Wells, Corey Bradford and Jabar Gaffney all the way to a 4- 12 record, a record typically expected of an expansion franchise in its first season. However, the potential was there for a

The NFL Regular season is over.  It was only a few months ago that we were thinking about Byron Leftwich throwing to Mike Walker, now we're talking about going to Pittsburgh and New England as the hot Super Bowl contender.   I'm absolutely pleased to report that today's game against the Houston Texans is going to be like watching a pre-season game.  And I'm completely OK with that.  We won't see Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew, David Garrard, etc.  All that matters is leaving Houston healthy. I don't beleive in needing a whole lot of momentum in going into the playoffs.  I especially don't like the idea of going against the Texans ...
The Amazing Houston Texans
2007-12-14 22:02:00
At the beginning of the season, people wondered if the Texans could finally start moving towards playoff contention.  With a new coach, a new quarterback and a hungry young defense, the Texans seemed to have a bright future.  In a few years, they could be wild card contenders. For 2007 though, topping the .500 mark would be a big step. Fast forward to Week 15 of the season.  The Texans finish off a workmanlike 31-13 victory over the Broncos to go 7-7.  They did it with Sage Rosenfels at QB and a combination of backup Ron Dayne and undrafted rookie Darius Walker at running back.  They're 1 1/2 games out of a playoff spot right now. If Schaub could stay healthy, if Andre Johnson could stay healthy, if they could find a real live running back ... this team has loads of potential.   Other than Andre Johnson, pretty much every fantasy projection for this team has been flat wrong.

With a 31-13 thwarting of the Denver Broncos (6-8), the Houston Texans are still clinging on to their playoff hopes at 7-7. In a game where Coach Mike Shanahan was out-dueled by both his son ...
Ian Gold, Daniel Graham Out with Injuries
2007-12-14 04:03:00
Adam Schefter reported that TE Daniel Graham and LB Ian Gold will not return to the game today after suffering left ankle and right knee injuries, respectively. Graham is one of our most consistent blockers, and now Jay Cutler has one less level of protection.  Gold’s absence will be noticed as well.

Houston Texans Offensive Lineman Fred Weary Sues Houston - Racial Profiling

It's my right that I need to do something about it."I feel my rights have been violated that day last year," Weary told KRIV-TV. "I have had to deal with that for this whole entire year. Houston Texans beat the struggling Miami Dolphins in Chris Browns 57-yarder

Kicking a field goal isn’t easy. But for Chris Brown of the Houston Rockets, it’s a different story. He kicked five field goals which includes the winner on a career long 57-yarder with a second remaining for the Texans to win a 22-19 over the Dolphins. Not only that, Brown tied an NFL single-game record with ...
5 Good Questions: Houston Texans Edition
2007-10-05 18:38:00
With the game just a few days away, Tim from Battle Red Blog, SBN's Texans blog, and I decided to exhange a few questions about each other's team and this week's game.  His responses to my questions are below.  Be sure to head over to Battle Red Blog to see my responses to his queries about the Fins.   What do you think of Matt Schaub thus far?  The numbers look good to me (an outsider) but I haven't been watching him each and every week.  What are your thoughts on him?  Is he looking like he was worth the price tag? Matt Schaub has been freaking ridiculous thus far.  I always temper that answer by asking the reader to understand that I'm easily impressed; I mean, we had to deal with five (5) years of subpar QB play, so the slightest sense of pocket presence and good decision-making leaves me gushing like a school girl.  Despite the fact that I'm easy to please, The Schaub has looked like he has a complete mastery of the offense and know...

SBNation Mock Draft Pick #21 -- Houston Texans
2007-04-06 03:19:00
With the 21st pick of the 2007 SBNation Mock NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select.... Joe Staley, OT - Central Michigan The Texans twice traded down during the first round to acquire extra picks, and for a team with so many needs that is probably a good stategy.  Picking Staley, however, all the way at #21 on the otherhand, not so much.  Now, before everyone kills me for that, I just think the Texans could have possibily traded down again, and still gotten Staley.  If there was no partner, then to reach for the guy you want is the good play and that's what the Texans appear to have done. Staley is freakish athlete, still new to the offensive line, and comes with plenty of upside.  He is still a bit of a project player, and it will be interesting to see how much patience the Texans and their fans have with him.  Check out what the Texans Fans have to say. Up next, the Dallas Cowboys are on the clock....
