How High Can You Handle?
2008-07-20 08:10:00
The numbers are sobering — oil prices in the $140 per barrel range; a 14% increase in oil prices expected next year; and eight major supplier increases in resin prices in four weeks. Injection Molding Magazine maps the recent upward trend of resin costs using such terms as "staggering" and "un
High Gas Prices Getting Crazy How High Could They Get, Now $4.00 Gas Will
2008-05-16 16:36:00
High gas prices this is getting crazy what is going on with all these high gas prices in last few years in the United States. Are we being scammed by these prices or is shortage of gas or oil companies are defrauding us as some have mentioned in the news. In my opinion I think the oil companies are defrauding us. Plus politicians could do more but they are probably being paid by the oil companies to be quiet. Then that makes them not try to make the prices lower. None of the politicians thinks this is an emergency but it is. How high will these prices get before it changes in a bad way. How far or how high will these prices go before something is done. How far is this thing going to go before the American people complain about this. $4.00 gas will it become $5.00, $20.00, $100.00 or even more per gallon. Who knows when the prices becomes so expensive that no can afford it. It is scary times many work places are slowing down with no jobs. People will have less money to spend. If thi...
?How High the Moon? see-through chair made of steel mesh
2008-04-15 00:00:00
Now this is just weird. The ?How High the Moon? chair, named after that classic Duke Ellington song, is made of expanded nickel-plated steel mesh and covered with epoxy (hopefully to make it more comfy than it looks). The result is a club chair that is there but isn?t. You ...
How High is Inflation Really?
2008-03-19 21:12:00
If we stop at the gas station to fill up the tank it is obvious that prices have done nothing but go up, up, up these days.  What is even more worrying is that it isn't only fuel costs that have skyrocketed.  Two years ago it would cost about $100 for a trip to the grocery store.  This would provide all of the staples for two weeks.  In a month, the total bill would be about $250.  Lately I am budgeting $300 a month and finding that I consistently go over budget.   It isn't a scientific measure by any means but it feels to me like my buying power has dropped by as much as 25% in two years.  How is that possible? The official figures for the Producer Price Index, which measures the cost of goods at the wholesale level, rose 0.3% in February and 1.0% in January as reported by Forbes.  Year over year inflation clocked in at a 6.4% rate.  This trend seems to be accelerating to an annual rate in the neighborhood of 7.8% for 2008 b...
Russian Election Dilemma? How High Vote Victory?
2008-02-22 21:12:00

But, what does one do in Putin Russia? They actually have to allow other parties to put forth candidates for the presidencey ...

The Torture Tape Cover-up: How High Does It Go?
2007-12-27 19:36:00
by Marjorie Cohn When the hideous photographs of torture and abuse emerged from Abu Ghraib in the Spring of 2004, they created a public relations disaster for the Bush administration. The White House had painstakingly worked to capitalize on the 9/11 attacks by creating a "war on terror." Never mind the absurdity of declaring war on a tactic. Central to Bush's new "war" was the portrayal of us as the good guys and al Qaeda, the Taliban, and Saddam Hussein as the bad guys. But the Abu Ghraib photos of naked Iraqis piled on top of one another, forced to masturbate, led around on leashes like dogs shined the light on U.S. hypocrisy. After the Abu Ghraib revelations, the Bush administration could not tolerate more bad publicity. So in 2005, the CIA destroyed several hundred hours of videotapes depicting torturous interrogations of Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, probably including water boarding. The former U.S. official involved in discussions abo...
How High the Dollar Rebound?
2007-12-03 15:37:00
Forecasts of a dollar rebound in 2008 are becoming more frequent as the US current account and budget deficits continue shrinking further. The dollar is unlikely to pursue single directional moves against the major currency pairs in 2008 as was the case in 2007. The extent of the dollar rebound will largely depend on the ...
How High?s the Fever, Mama?
2007-11-18 02:32:00
Cooper’s running a fever again — just another cold brought home from day care. Last night, I got a frantic call from Kandis saying he was running at about 103. When I got home, he was smiling and returning to his normal happy-go-lucky state of being. Tylenol is apparently a miracle drug for infants. Tonight, he’s ...
The Price of Crude Oil, How High Will It Go?
2007-11-13 00:00:00
Although many people don’t realize it, open bidding at the New York Mercantile Exchange in New York City sets the price of crude oil. For all intents and purposes, this open bidding, or open outcry, is actually the same as an auction. The New York Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade, or ...

Think How High the Homicide Rate Would Have Been If We Hadn?t Banned
2007-09-07 21:12:00
This week the District of Columbia filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold D.C.’s gun ban. The district’s lawyers argue that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, which overturned the ban last March, was wrong to conclude that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to own firearms. But even ...

How high will mortgage rates climb?
2007-06-06 17:02:00
The average rate on a 30-year fixed loan is anywhere from 6.1% to 6.4% depending on who is counting and how many points (fees) are involved. But everyone tracking the figure says mortgage rates climbed in May. A few people, on this blog and elsewhere, have said the 30-year will keep right on climbing to 8%, while others see it falling amid tepid demand for loans. What do you think? Where do you see the benchmark 30-year rate headed by, say, the middle of 2008? Below 6% Same as now 7% or higher 8% Too scary to think about

Your Television Screen: How High Should You Go?
2007-05-23 16:12:00
After writing an article about finding the best size television screen based upon the distance from which you will sit while viewing it, I have received some questions about how high a television screen should be mounted.   At least to some extent this is based upon viewer preference but for those who want a point of reference, it is generally accepted that the television screen is best positioned so that the viewers eye level, when sitting in their typical viewing position (chair), is 1/3 to 1/2 of the way down from the top of the television screen.   Certainly many homes have their television above their fireplace which allows them to center their sofa and other seating around a single focal point. The difficulty this presents however is that unless viewers have considerable distance from the screen, they are forced to sit with their head tilted for long periods of time while watching television.  In addition, most screens provide an optimal picture when eye level ...

How High You Can Bid on PPC Keywords
2007-04-21 01:30:00
If you want to have a good position on search engines, you need to know many things, such as meta tags, keyword density, link popularity, and so on. The learning curve and time involved to secure and maintain a good position can give you quite a headache. Compared to them, Pay Per Click (PPC) search engine submission is very straightforward. You just outbid others for keywords or phrases. How High Should I Bid? Before bidding on a PPC, you need to know the limits of your bidding budget. You don't want to find out you lost money at the end of the month because you bid too high, do you? Fortunately, you don't have to be a mathematician or a CPA to find out how much you can afford to pay for a visitor. Let's do an example together. During the month of July, you had 10,238 unique visitors and sold 100 products at $49.95 each. During the same month, you made $49.95 each x 100 sales = $4995.00 (gross profit)Your total expenses for July (hosting fee, cost of the products, bankin...

2007-03-19 22:40:00
He may not have released his highly anticipated album "Red Gone Wild" yet, but Redman is already working on two new projects."I'm getting back into [the studio] with Muddy Waters 2 right after Red Gone Wild. I already did two songs for it. It ain't gonna be hard, because I'm gonna take it backwards," said Radman. "I'ma find old beats that sound like it was [created] during the whole Muddy Waters era.
