Bears eat humble pie at Lambeau
2009-09-14 05:57:00 The Green Bay Packers kicked the Bears butts, and the Bears deserved every second of that loss. See Trib article. Lance Briggs and his trash talk fell on the heals of a 21-15 loss, as the Cheesehead nation rejoiced.Jay Culter and Nick Collins / Trib Photo: DiNuzzoI don't blame Lovie, Urlacher, the other coaches, or Culter's interceptions. I blame the Bears' and their hubris. It's time for Lovie to settle these guys down and get them to concentrate on their assignments. Although the score was low at half, the Bears looked slightly better than a Pop Warner team.I'm with the Bears all the way this season. I still have them winning 10 games and barely getting into the playoffs. However,...
Youtube Challenges Megan Fox, Vin Diesel: Will it have to eat humble pie?
2009-08-05 07:05:00 The race to acquire more followers on twitter or more fans on Facebook Pages, seems to have taken off in a serious way among celebs and now even amongst portals. Youtube in a blog post has challenged that its Facebook page in 60 days time would garner more fans than even Will Smith, Megan Fox, Lady Gaga, Vin Diesel, Adam Sandler. It also re-iterates if it fails to do so it would spotlight their choosen nonprofit or non-commercial cause videos on its homepage. Such sort of messages from celebs may have been deemed publicity stunt at first sight but coming from a Online giant that too a part of Google seems to have changed the angle. The message was posted by Hunter Walk, YouTube’s Director of Product Management and in no way seems to be a prank but extreme desire to create buzz . What does Blog Post say ? OK, Ashton might have more followers on Twitter than we do, but we’re not going quietly into the night. Let’s take a friendly celebrity tussle to Facebook, ...

Steve Marriott (British R&B)
2009-03-31 15:59:00 The Small Faces was a mod group founded in 1965 and included Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane. They were very influential in my youth and had a string of hits including Itchycoo Park, Lazy Sunday, All or Nothing and Tin Soldier. After they disbanded Steve helped form Humble Pie (1969-1975 and 1980-1981)I like Black CoffeeA very R&B tune is Thirty Days In A HoleSteve was influenced from an early age by his heroes including Buddy Holly, Booker T, Ray Charles, Otis Redding and Muddy Waters. In later life he became disillusioned with the music industry and turned his back on the big record companies remaining in relative obscurity. He returned to his music roots playing the pubs and clubs around London and Essex. He died on 20 April 1991 when a fire thought to have been caused by a cigarette swept through his 16th-century home. He was listed in Mojo as one of the top 100 greatest singers of all time. I agree!

Humble Pie
2009-03-14 22:45:00 My maternal grandmother played a very large role in forming who I?ve become, and although she is no longer with us, she continues to impact me in positive ways. One way is the legacy she left behind with recipes. Grandma didn?t have a book that she kept for herself, but she did often submit recipes to various churches for publication in their fundraising cookbooks. None of her recipes were ever very fancy or spicy or complicated; it was humble food, reflecting the era she belonged to and the area she grew up in. Grandma was a true Midwestern cook; heaping portions of hearty food filled with local ingredients (corn and pork) and served with love. Born in 1908, she came of age at a time when the nation?s economy was at its worst ? a bit like today. Much of her cooking was influenced by lack rather than abundance and this recipe for buttermilk pie reflects that era very well. I will share the recipe how it was originally written and add deciphering notes at the end for anyone ...

Top Chef: Eat some humble pie
2008-05-15 17:35:00 I?m a culinary dullard. Seriously, I can?t even boil an egg properly. But my husband and I are total Top Chef addicts. Last night?s episode combined challenge with altruism: Serve up a healthy, gourmet boxed lunch to Chicago?s finest police recruits. I come from a family steeped in emergency services ...
Eating Humble Pie
2008-03-22 01:31:00 In my post about acknowledgements and apologies, Mark Daugherty left this comment: Perhaps one of the reasons you conflict with other agents is your ?holier than though attitude?. When you repeatedly post that agents who work on commission have less integrity that those who are paid a salary, you should expect some ruffled feathers. You have ...
Humble Pie - Smokin? [1972]
2008-01-12 19:10:00 After a couple of years of relentless touring, Humble Pie capitalized on their loyal U.S. following to capture the market with this, their third album. Although lead guitarist Peter Frampton was replaced by Clem Clemson ? an excellent player ? the band remained essentially the same. Led by singer/guitarist Steve Marriot's soulful wail, the group enjoyed a huge hit from this record, "30 Days in the Hole" ? the track which defined the Pie's not-so-subtle appeal. The rest of the record is equally funky and intriguing. Stephen Stills guests on "Road Runner 'G' Jam," playing some nasty Hammond organ fills. In the end though, the group defined themselves as the undisputed leaders of the boogie movement in the early 1970s, as a band. [Allmusic.com]Track list;01-Hot 'n' Nasty. 3:2202-The Fixer. 5:0203-You're So Good For Me. 3:5004-C'mon Everybody. 5:1305-Old Time Feelin'. 4:0006-30 Days In The Hole. 3:5707-Road Runner: Road Runner's 'G' Jam. 3:4308-I Wonder. 8:5309-Sweet Peace A...
Gordon Ramsey - Humble Pie
2007-10-19 09:56:00 When I first bought this book I wasn’t sure whether it would be a good read or not, especially as like the majority of people I thought that Gordon Ramsey was a bit up himself. Actually reading this book you can see why he is so determined to be successful, which he has already achieved. His ...

A Little Bit Of Humble Pie
2007-09-21 19:57:00 I am a humble man. And, as a humble and fair man, I think I owe a few apologies. After watching us demolish Seville, my first thoughts were that I may have got a few things wrong. If a week is a long time in football, then in a month surely ...
Humble Pie and an A** Whipping; The O's 30-3 Loss to the Rangers
2007-08-23 04:52:00 I'm still here at the ballyard watching the second game of the doubleheader and I have decided to tough it out and go into work late in the morning. In my mind, I am still thinking, "we lost to the Texas Rangers?"...Well, if you are going to lose real bad, make it memorable.Ok, so tonight's game was a total fluke. I'll say Wednesday night was one of the most fun nights of my life recently. With pretty much open seating tonight here (one of the ushers told me as I entered in the lower bowl, "sit where you want, just don't sit in the first row..."), you knew the night was going to be something else...After we gave up the 23rd & 24th run, most fans were besides themselves and started rooting for the Rangers. No one was really upset, it mass laughter and utter disbelief concerning the situation. You had to feel very sorry for Paul Shuey, Brian Buress and Rob Bell. Now, we really have to wonder about Daniel. The "bad" Daniel showed op, and it was mass chaos afterwards.Just awful, craz...

HUMBLE PIE - HOT IN NASTY - The Anthology(256 Kbps...
2007-08-20 11:51:00 HUMBLE PIE - HOT IN NASTY - The Anthology(256 Kbps) Para quem não tem toda a obra de Humble Pie esta coletânea é o suficiente. Para os que tiverem todos os cd's que se calem. In 1969, Steve Marriott (lead vocals/guitar) left the Small Faces and joined Peter Frampton (guitars, vocals) of the Herd, Greg Ridley (bass) of Spooky Tooth, and Small Faces associate Jerry Shirley (drums) to form the blues boogie rock band Humble Pie. The two CD, 31 track ?Hot ?n? Nasty? Anthology covers their first 9 albums from 1969-1975 which is their best material and beyond so it goes a little farther than it needs to, but everything here is great. Another nice feature is that the music is chronological starting with ?Natural Born Woman? from their 1969 debut ?As Safe As Yesterday Is? and closing with songs from the 1975 ?Street Rats? LP including ?Rain?, a Lennon/McCartney original. After 1971?s ?Rock On?, Frampton left the group to go solo and they recruited guitarist Clem Clemson to release what e...

Eating humble pie?
2007-07-19 17:10:00 After going around censuring to everybody about how I’ll never use TMNet again, I’m back on-line, on TMNet’s Streamyx service. Well, as the title says, I’m here eating my own word back. I was pretty sure that I can get a Jaring account as my friend’s Taman (housing estate), which is about 600 m away from mine, was serviced by ...
Swallowing a Huge Bite of Humble Pie
2007-04-29 20:08:00 Remember this post where I worried about how I would let go of my need for things being done my way?Yeah, I guess you could say that being knocked on your ass has a way of making you appreciate every bit of help people offer. My in-laws drove all night to be here to care for Peanut so that I wouldn't have to worry about him being cared for. They are staying until after the baby is born. They could be here for over 3 weeks. I couldn't have made it these past few days without them.My kitchen linen drawer is not organized, nor are any of my cabinets. The dishwasher is being loaded "incorrectly". Peanut is a little off of his schedule.Guess what? I don't care. It doesn't matter to me. My MIL, who is just spectacular, has cooked, cleaned, tended to my family, and changed some king-size crap diapers. And she hasn't complained or criticized one time.I am so lucky to have this great support at a time that I so very much need it. This experience has made me swallow these petty c...
Humble Pie - Natural Born Bugie (1969)
2007-04-14 21:23:00 A showcase for former Small Faces' frontman Steve Marriott and one-time Herd guitar virtuoso Peter Frampton, the hard rock outfit Humble Pie formed in Essex, England in 1969. Also featuring ex-Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley along with drummer Jerry Shirley, the fledgling group spent the first several months of its existence locked away in Marriott's Essex cottage, maintaining a relentless practice schedule. Signed to the Immediate label, Humble Pie soon issued their debut single "Natural Born Boogie," which hit the British Top Ten and paved the way for the group's premiere LP, As Safe as Yesterday Is.After touring the U.S. in support of 1969's Town and Country, Humble Pie returned home only to discover that Immediate had declared bankruptcy. The band recruited a new manager, Dee Anthony, who helped land them a new deal with A&M; behind closed doors, Anthony encouraged Marriott to direct the group towards a harder-edged, grittier sound far removed from the acoustic melodies fav...
