I Heart Henry Paulson. China Is His Thing.
2008-10-06 01:35:00 Not for anything he has said or done on the bailout, on which even those of us who agree it was necessary cannot truly be happy about. No, I like him for his opinions on what the United States must do in terms of its relations with China. Paulson just came out with a very thoughtful piece in Foreign Affairs Magazine, entitled, "A Strategic Economic Engagement: Strengthening U.S.-Chinese Ties." The summary nicely summarizes the article as follows: "The prosperity of the United States and China depends on helping China further integrate into the global economic system." (h/t to The Black China Hand) Paulson says that no matter how one views China, engagement is the best policy: Some people suggest that China is a threat that must be countered or contained. HeartLibrary has dozens, if not more, interactive videos about the heart, heart conditions, and heart disease. The videos are easy to find, easy to watch, and easy to understand: doctors (real doctors, not fake internet doctors) explain everything in simple terms.This is huge, because people can get information they need to help them stay healthy or get healthy, and to seek help if they need it. Especially b/c I get to choose which assignments I do, what stores I want to visit, and when I want to do them. Until very recently, my only experiences enjoying their country’s home-cooked meal staple saw me sitting under big yellow letters that spelled out “Ikea.†But a couple weeks ago, I was called to Stockholm on a work trip, and I was able to partake in a genuine plate of the gravy-drenched morsels of goodness. Each were about a third of the size of traditional American or Italian spheres but dare I say ten times more delicious. The meatballs were accompanied by mashed potatoes and, of course, a side of tart-sweet lingonberries as well as a delicate cucumber salad. My lunching partners also ordered a side of other traditional Swedish fare, which included a kind of moose or elk pate, sweet pickled fish and a quiche-like cheese pie, all of which were delicious. I decided to take the Canon along for once :-) I normally dont take the Canon to the park... its a larger camera and when you have to chase after two active boys it can get hard to keep up with.
