Just a few thoughts that have occupied my mind at times: - When French people swear do they say pardon my English? - Aren?t the ?good things that come to those who wait? just the leftovers from the people that got there first? - Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, “I think ...

Traveling for work — spending hours upon hours in airports and airplanes and small, crowded, smoky, dimly-lit dive bars trolling for hookers — gives a man a lot of time to think, to ponder this crazy world we live in and, when inspiration presents itself, to devise methods for the betterment of all our lives. Well I’ve been traveling for work, Internet, and inspiration is running rampant. I propose that, from now on, we should force catheterization upon the elderly, for all flights — domestic and international — lasting longer than two hours. Because quite frankly, Internet, I am dead-set against Grandma Madge’s polyester-covered old woman ass rubbing against my shoulder over and over as she shuffles up and down the aisle nonstop, her 70-year-old bladder unable to hold that six ounces of complimentary ginger ale for longer than 20 minutes. Here are a few things I’ve discovered the past couple of days: The open display of ass crac...
Damn, I Wonder What She Has To Say About Posh
2007-11-06 13:12:00
Ginger Spice has hired a vocal coach for the upcoming Spice Girls reunion and the vocal coach tells it like it is. Her coach, Zoe Tyler, said, "Geri can't sing live. She is shit but she knows she is. At least she is realistic. She admits she is not a great singer but she is determined to give the best possible performance she can. We have been working together a lot and she has been working incredibly hard.""Geri is thrilled to have her own little solo spot on the tour. Not all of the girls do, so it is a great chance for her to stand out. She has a great routine worked out but she is worried her voice will let her down."When Zoe said "not all of the girls do" I think she just meant Posh. She's the only one that doesn't even sound good when she lip-synchs.In all seriousness, like they are really going to sing live! I went to see them back in the day and I swear they even lip-synched their dialogue in between songs. There's no way these howling alley cats are going to sing live. ...

I wonder if Adoption Guy likes airplane peanuts?
2007-10-31 18:26:00
Ok, I'm having a hard time with the parent/child classes. I go because Elle really likes it but I fricken hate it. I can acknoledge that this is totally my own issue and my own fault. If everyone in the class is getting along great except for me then I can accept that I'm the one with the problem. But I don't know how to fix it and I don't know how to make it easier so I just have to suck it up and tough it out.See, the thing is that I actually like a couple of the moms in the class. Some of them seem really nice. The problem in the class is not with them, it's with Adoption Guy and that fact that everyone else in the class seems to think that Adoption Guy is just as awesome as he claims to be. I don't understand this. How does everyone else hear this guy say the same things I hear him saying and not think he's a total jackass? Even the mother who a few weeks ago seemed to dislike this guy now seems to think he's the neatest thing since sliced bread.Last week I was ...

I wonder if these scummy mortgage agents still have their jobs. Doubt it.
2007-08-25 10:41:00
America, you got gamed by 20-something call-center-jockey kids pumping mortgages you couldn't afford and even they didn't understand so they could make a quick commission.Tens of thousands of life's losers - call center jockeys, bartenders, used car salesmen, Herbalife distributors (you get the picture) - found their way into the unregulated and out-of-control REIC over these past few years. The one saving grace is that they're getting canned left and right - the party is over.I wonder who'll be picking up the bottle service tab in Scottsdale tonight? Anyone? Anyone?

2007-08-20 14:04:00
A scottish archaeology student has discovered a 5,000-year-old piece of chewing gum while on a dig in Europe. Sarah Pickin, 23, spotted the ancient piece of “confectionery” during a dig in north-west Finland, but had to check with colleagues whether her hunch was correct or if it was in fact a fossilised piece of animal dung. The ...

You’ve got to take it with a grain of salt — a politician’s self-reporting of what books he is reading is more about image than a reflection of what they are actually reading — but it’s revealing what British members of parliament think will impress the citizenry: In the annual survey of MPs’ holiday reading, released today by the bookshop chain Waterstone’s, first place was taken by William Hague’s biography of William Wilberforce, which was published to coincide with the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade. It came well ahead of books that received more hype at the time of publication, such as the latest Harry Potter fantasy, or the diaries of Alastair Campbell. It is perhaps not surprising that Mr Hague should be the top seller among Conservative MPs, but what is less predictable is that the survey showed the same book to be the Liberal Democrat’s top summer read. A new mood of religious scepticism seems to have ta...

2007-07-15 16:50:00
You’d think with a name like ShopNBC, you’d find a peacock-filled site full of “Friends” T-shirts, “Frasier” coffee mugs and “Heroes”capes and accessories. Far from it. Turns out, ShopNBC is a full-fledged online shopping mall full of jewelry, housewares, electronics, apparel, etc. And hey, there’s even a television channel with the same name, offering similar shop-at-home type merchandise. Crazy coincidence, huh? Okay, okay. So they’re one and the same. But they’ve got some real nice merchandise and, even better, a pretty sweet coupon offer right now: 10% off orders over $75 at ShopNBC.com Online only. Use promotion code YASF714. Valid through: July 21, 2007 Disclaimer/Exclusions: Online only. One coupon per order. You may use this coupon one time through July 21, 2007. Not valid with any other discount or promotional offer. No cash value. Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted, if sold or transferred. Unlike o...
I wonder if we'll be seeing more like this?
2007-07-05 09:07:00
In Teen Titans #47, we're treated to an oh-so colorful scene of Robin bashing Jason Todd in the groin. Of course it's not like this hasn't happened before in comic books, but this, with the accompanying sound effect word ("boof") seems incredibly tacky and superfluous. Jason may be a jerk, but if he's not literally a crook, then what's the justification here? I thought the idea of bringing him back was so that they could improve him as a character. Guess I, and anyone who thought so before, were wrong. No matter what age group is reading books like this, the above is not something we need to see, and leaves me feeling frankly insulted, since it's like they're trying to bombard me with yet more shock tactics. Ick.

So I was chilling with my buddy outside last night. We ended up having to pull 11 hours in the guard tower, and after that was done had to do some other 'guard' type stuff. Was a long night and durring our break between the 11 hour shift and this new one, we were outside smoking and just talking. Well, like anything here, our conversation steered towards back home and we got on the subject of food that we really missed and places that we liked to eat out. After going back in forth for a while, I decided that there were some places that I wanted to eat at while I was on leave and I didn't want to forget about them. So I started a list! :) Its not a final list, but here it is as it stands today. I will continue to add places as I think of them, but this is what I got for now.*Not appearing in any order*Chipotle - They have by far the best burritos. I Wonder About This Every Single Time I’m In Starbucks
2007-06-11 02:21:00
I have a question, and I promise, I’m really not irritated. I just don’t get it. Why oh WHY is there not a separate line for Starbucks customers who wish to purchase nothing more than the beverage known as “coffee,” so that they can pay, get their drink — which is already ready — and get on with their lives in a timely fashion? Shouldn’t there be an express checkout separate from the people ordering grande half-caf triple two-pump non-fat toffee nut lattes with a toasted turkey sandwich and molasses cookie on the side? I confess — I’m usually a member of Group II. (Those molasses cookies are downright addictive.) But really, wouldn’t an express lane make sense? Fewer people crowding the store when it’s busy, less crankiness amongst the customer base? Or do the Starbucks people want the drip coffee customers to be in the store longer, just in case the extra time standing there may entice them to buy Starbucks tchotchke...

2007-05-07 05:20:00
I saw things right on the edge of my vision. It happened a lot. If I put my attention directly on whatever it was, then it wasn't there. Fleeting little things...that's for sure. I used to think my eyes were playing tricks on me but I knew they were not.I discovered if I resisted trying to get these entities directly into the center of my vision they didn't scamper away. It's a real trick to learn to look at something while seemingly not looking at it.I finally began figuring out what was going on when, one day, I saw something and quickly shifted my vision to it only to find it was still in my peripheral sight. I repeated this about three times with the same results, except that after the third time I heard some faint giggling. That was when I found out I was beginning to see into the Faerie World. It was like returning home after a long absence and indeed, in some ways, that is exactly what it was...a great homecoming. Renewing that connection has made a huge difference in my l...

I wonder WHY
2007-03-19 11:43:00
My life, as it seems, doesn't get any better, on the contrary, things are getting worse and all the worst things come at once, slap me in the face--not to mention a recent message that completes my misery. I don't blame him for feeling that way about me, but I need, badly need, people to take a second look at me before make any judgment. I truly don't wanna hurt someone but sometimes my silence and non action makes it harder to myself. My recent struggles--mainly getting a job for my survival on this earth put me on the edge of frustration but love has become another major issue that steals my night sleeps. When life getting meaner and meaner, someone to ask for a help, or someone to talk to (the most important source of help I badly need in moment like this) is nothing but impossible, with a capital "i."No, money and job are not gonna fix my broken life, even, then, when I'm finally get a job to live in, a place to spend the night, and a busy days to spend the remaining years of...

I could be, if you were thinking about it in a terribly stereotypical way:I rarely wear skirts, and frequently dress in a tomboyish manner I rarely go out with men these daysMy closest friends are gay menI haven't been to a straight club in agesI love watching the L WordI currently have a Bruno Bisang nude calendar on my wall which features a photo of a naked lady pulling up her stockings. She doesn't know that my first kiss when I was 12 was with a girl (a cousin, who offered to help me ensure that I was ready to kiss a guy I fancied)Anyway, I believe that sexuality exists on a scale, such as the one proposed by Dr Alfred Kinsey in the 1940s and 1950s:0- Exclusively heterosexual 1- Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual 2- Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual 3- Equally heterosexual and homosexual 4- Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual 5- Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual 6- Exclusi...

I wonder why?One of the few good things about moving is when you find things that you had forgotten that you had stashed away. And a nice surprise was the re-discovery of this small (7 inches x 5.5 inches) portrait of one of my professors. It's a portrait that I created back when I was a student at the University of Washington School of Art. He is/was of one of the most influential and courageous American artists who's never been given a show at the National Gallery of Art (although the Phillips Collection did step up to the challenge of a major Washington, DC area art museum actually focusing on a great artist who just also happened to be an African-American, and put up a great exhibition).Jacob Lawrence.

Sometimes I wonder about people who run things.Illegal roosters. Sounds like a simple thing to deal with. Not according to this blog commenter."I have a homeowner a couple of doors down from me who thinks having a rooster in their back yard is cool. I Wonder If Bloodworms Help Sinus Infections
2006-11-18 15:09:01
I’ve been sick. I’ve had computer trouble. We’ve been working on our upstairs bathroom…new paint, new hardware, new mirror, new cabinet. Did I mention I’ve been sick? I’ve converted and am doing what I can to save the Internet. Firefox has replaced IE on my laptop. My conversion wasn’t heartfelt though. IE seems to be one of the sources of the aforementioned computer problems. Firefox seems to be immune. I’m growing to like it. It seems to be a little faster. On a brighter note, the aquarium has also been revamped. African cichlids. They eat bloodworms every few days as a treat. It brightens their colors. Those bloodworms reside as frozen cubes in our freezer. Shelly isn’t crazy about the bloodworms (we’re strongly reminded each time the bloodworms are handled of the necessity of washing our hands), but Chloe gets a real kick out of it. It’s pretty cool watching the worms thaw in the water. It doesn...
