Researchers Predict Ice Age Around the Corner
2008-01-26 17:20:00 RIA Novasti is reporting the following: “Russian and foreign research data confirm that global temperatures in 2007 were practically similar to those in 2006, and, in general, identical to 1998-2006 temperatures, which, basically, means that the Earth passed the peak of global warming in 1998-2005,” said Khabibullo Abdusamatov, head of a space research lab at the ...

New Ice Age Coming?
2008-01-26 14:01:00 This guy will be called a blashphemer and accused of being in the pocket of Big Oil or Big Coal, I’m sure Temperatures on Earth have stabilized in the past decade, and the planet should brace itself for a new Ice Age rather than global warming, a Russian scientist said in an interview with RIA Novosti ...

Russian Scientist Says To Prepare for Ice Age. Yes, You Read that Right.
2008-01-26 03:34:00 It isn’t getting hotter anymore, so we better switch gears and go back to global cooling. Russian and foreign research data confirm that global temperatures in 2007 were practically similar to those in 2006, and, in general, identical to 1998-2006 temperatures, which, basically, means that the Earth passed the peak of global warming in 1998-2005,” said Khabibullo Abdusamatov, head of a space research lab at the Pulkovo observatory in St. Petersburg. According to the scientist, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere has risen more than 4% in the past decade, but global warming has practically stopped. It confirms the theory of “solar” impact on changes in the Earth’s climate, because the amount of solar energy reaching the planet has drastically decreased during the same period, the scientist said. ” Had global temperatures directly responded to concentrations of “greenhouse” gases in the atmosphere, they ...

Ice Age 3
2007-11-05 17:09:00 Did anyone missed Scrat, the squerrell from Ice Age?? Well, here comes another upcoming sequel from the computer animated film Ice Age. It was announced and approved by Fox president Hutch Parker on January 30, 2007 and is slated for a July 1, 2009 release. The film was said to be produced by Blue Sky Studios and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.According to Denis Leary, who voiced a saber-toothed tiger Diego, the production was gearing up for the third installment of Ice Age. Unfortunately, he is not aware of the storyline, which is apparently the last thing in mind. "We've already done the meltdown [story], [but] as far as I'm concerned, I don't care. 'Ice Age 3,' '4,' '5,' '6.' I think it should be like 'Rocky.' I want to be doing it when I'm 70. It's a money machine. I think kids from future generations should be forced to watch 'Ice Age.'"
Strong Evidence Points to Earth’s Proximity to Sun as Ice Age Trigger
2007-10-09 19:47:00 Analysis of Antarctic ice cores led by Kenji Kawamura, a visiting scientist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, shows that the last four great ice age cycles began when Earth’s distance from the sun during its annual orbit became great enough to prevent summertime melts of glacial ice. The absence of those melts allowed buildups of the ice over periods of time that would become characterized as glacial periods. Results of the study appear in the Aug. 23 edition of the journal Nature.Jeff Severinghaus, a Scripps geoscientist and co-author of the paper, said the finding validates a theory formalized in the 1940s but first postulated in the 19th Century. The work also helps clarify the role of carbon dioxide in global warming and cooling episodes past and present, he said. “This is a significant finding because people have been asking for 100 years the question of why are there ice ages,†Severinghaus said.A premise advanced in the 1940s known as the Milankovitch...

Ice Age History of the Niagara River and Whirlpool Rapids
2007-09-02 12:29:00 The Niagara River, as is the entire Great Lakes Basin of which the river is an integral part, is a legacy of the last Ice Age. 18,000 years ago southern Ontario was covered by ice sheets 2-3 kilometers thick. As they advanced southward the ice sheets gouged out the basins of the Great Lakes. Then as they melted northward for the last time they released vast quantities of meltwater into these basins. Our water is "fossil water"; less than one percent of it is renewable on an annual basis, the rest leftover from the ice sheets. The Niagara Peninsula became free of the ice about 12,500 years ago. As the ice retreated northward, its meltwaters began to flow down through what became Lake Erie, the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, down to the St. Lawrence River, and, finally, down to the sea. There were originally 5 spillways from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. Eventually these w...

2007-07-30 11:08:00 I was today then also finally times Ice Age 2 look and I found him genuine to class. Have only no notion whether I find now first or the second part better. Credit both so their advantages. The best at Ice Age 2 is clear that Scrat occurs more frequently (which the Macher invented there everything is simply class.). The many new figures were also super, particularly the Oppossums. In addition also Sid and Diego provide for a quantity of Lacher. I can only recommend the film to everyone. :) Before the film I was new Klamotten buy and had thereby 2 small success experiences. Why I Would Make a Poor Celebrity (or Secret Service Agent)
2007-06-19 13:06:00 Well, there are thousands of reasons for both of these, so let?s make this reason number 172. One of the apparent requirements of being a celebrity is that you need to wear sunglasses in public places. The picture of Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham hidden by her child at David Beckham?s final Real Madrid match is an example of this. Sunglasses, often coupled with wearing a hat, helps disguise celebrities in public from the commoners. If you look closely at the picture, you will notice that no one else is wearing sunglasses, so it can't be too sunny. On to the premise of this post. I cannot be a celebrity because I don?t wear sunglasses. I have had several pairs of sunglasses over the years and have managed to either lose or break all of them. Based on this track record, I have not had a pair of sunglasses in probably six years. Therefore, I have a bit of a dilemma. If I buy a cheap pair of sunglasses, I won?t really care about them and will probably lose of be...

The new Ice Age
2007-02-25 05:28:02 You thought Ice Age was a Disney movie. But that’s because you don’t live in the Midwest. Skyler had dance this morning. We didn’t go. I want to send Lee to the grocery store. But we can’t leave the house. Why not? Because we are in the middle of an ice storm. Or what I live to call The Great Wait For Somebody To Hit Our Van of 2007. We have a two stall garage, but it’s so packed with crap we need to get rid of [like the old stained and broken couch from our living room] we only have room for one of the vans. So Lee parks out front. In the last seven and a half years we’ve lived in our house, every car we own [except for my van that gets parked in the garage] has been involved in an accident while parked in front of our house. One time my car was hit twice within a two week time span. Good times. Another time somebody in the next block up, accidentally left their car in neutral and it rolled down in to our block, hit both of our cars, managed to m...

2007-02-10 23:29:04 I told ya that I was working on a breaking news story. Just a few minutes ago, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (IMDb link) became the first Blu-ray movie posted to a BitTorrent tracker. HDBits.org once again leads the way by being the first tracker to release a full Blu-ray rip. The file is a whopping 22GB so it should be a while before it is seeded. Like HD DVD, it will be a few days before several other titles make their way out.

Ice Age III (13,64km - ahr 166 - 10,7km/u)

First mammoth since Ice Age roams London

The creatures last roamed in Britain when it was in the grip of an ice age.The hairy tusked mammoth, an exact replica made in resin by experts at the Natural History Museum, is modelled on real skeletons and patches of frozen skin and hair recovered by archaeologists.Mammoths began roaming the country after the gulf stream, a current of warm water from the Gulf of Mexico that travels across the North Atlantic ocean and warms Britain, shut down - which scientists fear could happen again.Read the rest of this article...
