Idiom 2009
2008-05-02 21:05:00
Here's an early look at what's to come from one of our favorite snow wear brands Idiom. As we've come to expect from Burton's high end label, it seems as though designers Jeff Staple and Hiroshi Fujiwara have kept the 2009 line simple, attractive and technical, just the way we like it. Following suit with Burton's plans to become more environmentally responsible, going green seems to an overriding theme in more ways than one. We like the color choices of green, white and black and we hope (and bet) that environmentally friendly techniques were used in producing the garments. Water based glues, recycled materials? We'll have to stay tuned to find out more details. via To Darrin Hudson

ESL Idiom: Plugging Along
2007-09-30 05:17:00
Idioms are a very important part of the English language. If ESL learners aren't taught idioms, they will be limited in their understanding of English. Unfortunately, idioms, expressions and slang are endless. The problem is where to start!I often try to teach my ESL students idioms that are related to their careers, or are otherwise somehow relevant. There are also every day idioms that can be used by anyone. "Plugging along" is one such idiom."To plug along" could also be considered a phrasal verb. It is often used when responding to the question, "How are you?" or "How have you been?"My response to "How are you?" can be "plugging along" or "I'm plugging along." It means that I'm doing fine, nothing is new. I'm just living my life as usual."Other idioms or expressions with "plug" include "unplugged." This has become a way of saying that music is being played acoustically, without electricity (like an electric guitar). And other one: "I'm all plugged up." I'll let you figure ...

It is an absorbing interest to both foreign and native speakers of the English language. The English language is rich in idioms, and persons with only a superficial knowledge of English idioms will find themselves, more often than not, at a serious disadvantage in their reading, and even more so when they partake in discussions, friendly banters, and debates. Idioms for Everyday Use is organized into 20 units, each with a general theme such as colors, food, geography, and time. A unit covers idioms with words related to its theme; for example, the idioms in the color unit include in the red, to feel blue, red...
El Quechua (Idioma Imperial)
2007-05-20 20:01:00
