Ignorance

War is peace, ignorance is strength
2009-10-19 03:06:00
[From New Statesman] John Pilger Obama, the man of peace, is planning another war to add to his impressive record Barack Obama, winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, is planning another war to add to his impressive record. In Afghanistan, his agents routinely extinguish wedding parties, farmers and construction workers with weapons such as the innovative ...
Tea Party Ignorance
2009-09-19 02:41:00
I know there are intelligent conservatives out there, so I’m not trying to generalize here. However, I think this does say something about Glenn Beck’s effect on political discourse on the right side of the aisle. It’s scary, actually.
Re-examine ignorance
2009-09-17 19:08:00
Many people define ignorance differently if they are speaking about themselves or someone else.  You may view your own ignorance as innocent yet someone else is guilty of their own ignorance. Notice a difference. How do you judge or reprimand? Some people are harder on self than they are on others. What are some possible reasons for your choices? Consider why people focus on things they believe they cannot do.  In some cases, they even fight about it. You may view this as selective ignorance of potential or, you may simply notice discordant energy. Different levels of awareness affect perception of what you choose to see and feel right now. Ask yourself how you avoid being present in the moment and what you are becoming in future.  To be present is to have a mind which is empty of thought, fear, judgment, everything. Some people are convinced they are complacent if they do not find reason to feel anxious. What brings you inner peace?
Ignorance and religious mind control

The following passage is a most interesting and actual comparison… … with acknowledgements to one of the most brilliant, knowledgeable evolutionary scientists and a civil and courageous person – defender of the rights of children not to be indoctrinated religiously. John Piper's Ignorance is Killing Children!
2009-09-02 05:56:00
I was over at Women In Ministry when I stumbled upon advice from John Piper regarding submission and abuse. If you would rather read the transcript please go to Women in Ministry site she has it there. The John Piper's in the world need to know that NOT only are the women of his church being damaged, but his STUPIDITY is also damaging the children! That is going to effect their future generations of the church, and their tithes to keep their doors open and help others.I'm sorry but I have to look at this man's body language first of all. His giggle at the beginning was offensive for one thing. Its not funny, but a very serious issue. When the women of his church that have been abused, and wake up and leave his church? John Piper is seriously going to wonder what happened. That's the sad part. The John Piper's of the world need to step up, and educate themselves on domestic violence within the church. They need to go to a faith based domestic violence organization, and spend...
Flaunting Ignorance as Evidence of Intellectual Superiority
2009-06-22 08:59:00
Every now and again, we get a left-wing reader who will offer regular comments, telling us exactly what Republicans and conservatives think.  When we try to correct him (it’s invariabily a “him”) by articulating our point of view, even linking pieces that we have posted on this blog–or on other right-of-center blogs, it is to ...
The Symptom is Credit, But the Disease is not Illiquidity
2009-05-14 14:33:00
The call for consumers to just ignore the realities of the current economy and spend are being made by marginal economists and incompetent politicians alike. The call to get credit flowing is loud and shrill. The hearings the nation witnessed last week punctuated the fact the politicians simply think the problem is the lenders just ...
The Public Ignorance of Peer Review in Science
2009-05-05 10:09:00
I’ve ventured into online discussion forums regarding evolution, global warming, and stem cell research, and occasionally on autism & vaccinations and homeopathy nonsense. One thing that always stands out is that the vast majority of the loons on these topics rarely know that the peer review process exists, and if they do, they think it ...
"Experts Say" - The Rest Of You Are Morons
2009-04-15 23:32:00
By Sylvain Lamoureux 4/15/09I am so tired of supposed 'intelligent' people telling me that 'experts say' this and 'experts say' that or that a 'study' says or suggests something. Usually these experts and studies are referring to things which could be considered 'common sense' or which demands a change in one's perception, judgments, beliefs and behaviour.I did a Google News search for the exact phrase "experts say" and came back with 20,198 hits. The same search with "scientists say" comes back with 3691. Why is it that scientists and their opinions don't get the exposure that 'experts' do? This search is only in the 'News' section of Google. If you search within years, you can notice that the results have grown significantly over the decades. Here are some of the good ones I saw:"Experts say anyone can be target of clever con artists" - thanks for that bit of 'clarity' - now what does this really say? It tells us be 'be on our guard' and to 'look out for ourse...
There is No Excuse for Yglesias’ Ignorance
2009-03-30 12:20:00
‘When we consider changing military policy, the should ask is “Will it help  win war?”   If the answer is “no” or even “we don’t know,’  then we should not make such change. Thomas H. Moorer, Admiral, USN(retired) Matthew Yglesias has his knickers in twist because Secretary of  Defense, Robert Gates, will not support over turning the Clinton era “don’t asks, don’t tell” policy: Robert Gates’ statement that we shouldn’t expect the Obama administration to fulfill its pledge to end Don’t Ask Don’t Tell anytime soon is highly disappointing: ... Meanwhile, racial desegregation of the military actually required a large number of active steps and was successfully carried out near the peak of Cold War tensions. The biggest step toward ending discrimination against gays and lesbians in the military would be the passive step of just not discriminating against them. The military has two objec...

Sathya Sai Baba claims that everything he does is for the ultimate best of everyone. To be accepted by him, one must have complete faith in him, that he is who and what he claims to be - God Incarnate. Believers accept his claims that all is under the ‘Divine Control’, that he alone of ...

2009-03-04 15:49:00
Why should gay parents be allowed to adopt children? - All children deserve to have a real family. In many cases where foster children are concerned, their gay parents are the only parents they’ve ever known. Why is the government discriminating against these wonderful couples raising children who would otherwise have no one? - Banning based on sexual orientation is unconstitutional. This is a 30 year-old ban and most of the old farts who originally voted *for* it are now *against* it. - Every major child welfare organization is opposed to laws that ban gay people from adopting. Every. Single. One. - It is bad public policy to limit the number of potential adoptive parents by banning broad categories of people. Besides, your straight fat ass isn’t out there offering a stable and loving home to children who need it so why the f*ck are you against others who wish to do so? Urge the Florida Speaker of the House to schedule a hearing already.Representative Cretul hasn’...
Ignorance is bliss in Sai Baba?s ?teaching?

Buddy?s Book of Fairy Tales - When Dragons? Hearts Were Good
2008-09-10 19:06:00
Reposted and Revised– Bible Fairy Tales. This is what this book When Dragons Hearts Were Good (1999, Master Books) made for little children is all about. Buddy Davis, sculptor and songwriter (But in no way a true certified paleo-artist), wrote and published this small children’s book based on one of his most idiotic of songs. The book is also illustrated by the same man, Dan Lietha, who created a comic strip propaganda series After Eden and Creation Wise, a series that became a subject of parodies being made to refute the claims made by YECs found within the series as shown here. Nothing to review in detail really. There are lots of things worth noting in this book, though, such as the indoctrination of deluding the minds of young children to the point where they cannot tell dinosaur from dragon. This except from the book, found on page 18, is an direct example of this, “One of the strangest pair of [sic] dragons, the stegosaurs, had triangular-shaped plates which ...
Ignorance is Bliss
2008-09-08 22:21:00
This weekend, Apple-of-Daddy's-Eye #1 demanded we go to the cinema to see The Duchess, a historical drama. Being the doting father that I am, I relented and took the whole family. As it happens, I found the film extremely interesting and, despite the mixed reviews it is receiving, I would recommend it to all adulterers who are romantically inclined. It is a tale of an unhappy marriage in an 18th Century aristocratic family. The heroine, Georgiana, is married to the Duke of Devonshire, a man who is apparently incapable of having an emotional relationship with his wife or of showing her compassion. He openly conducts affairs without concealing them and ultimately takes a mistress who takes up permanent residence in the marital home palace. The Duchess starts an affair of her own with a politician, Charles Grey, whereupon she seeks her husband's agreement to continue the relationship. She presumably makes this request on the assumption that that he will have the decency to recogni...

Over the years of surfing the internet, I would come across sites I wish they don’t exist at all. Genesis Park is one of them. This site, which tagline reads, “Dinosaurs: living evidence of a powerful Creator” is created by Dave Woetzel, a crank who advocates alleged “live” pterosaur sightings and is one of Prisoner #06452-017’s cronies who advocates the lying claim about dinosaurs living with humans while being engrossed in ignorance of the exact opposite which reveals the scenario, including the live pterosaur sightings, to be entirely fictional. Much of the claims presented on this site I’ve already debunked, but there are others on Woetzel’s site that has to be dealt with including how the creationist webmasters like Woetzel distort ancient art under a false pretense that if an animal in the art looks like a dinosaur, then it must be a dinosaur people saw, doesn’t matter if the animal resembles a modern animal with dog ears, ...

I'm going to side with Obama on this one. The guy didn't know about Hanford. There are many local issues and I don't expect a presidential candidate to know every single one. Oard?s Problems with Gastroliths and/or Clasts
2008-05-20 08:34:00
Michael Oard, one of the creationists at Creation Ministries International (CMI), is very troubled by the huge amounts of gastoliths trapped within many dinosaur remains found especially at the Morrison Formation in areas of Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. Especially in many sauropod remains such as the remains of Diplodocus hallorum, (formally Seismosaurus) which are found with 240 gastroliths dotting much of the chest area of the skeleton. He was even more troubled when he discovered that one of many of fossil sites he visited in Wyoming, known as the Cloverly Formation, has tons more of such smooth stones littering the area that’s been long thought to be gastroliths– at least until recently when it is discovered that the so-called gastroliths are actually just clasts, stones made up of quartz, quartzite, and cherts that was broken off from larger rocks and transported for a short distance by rivers and steams that also shaped them into smooth, polish stones in which some...

Dinosaurs, Man, and Galling?s Hypocrisy of The Bible
2008-05-15 06:17:00
Now look at Peter Galling, one of Ham’s cronies’ playing innocent, engaging in bibliolatry, and being a hypocrite with this new approach to responding to a feedback given by an S.T. from Rockport, Texas and L.B. from a somewhat false location (What false location, Galling?), “We thought we?d try something a little different in this week?s response to feedback. Usually, we select one negative feedback to answer, always looking for an emailer who asks a valid question rather than someone just unloading unsubstantiated claims. Recently, we received two relatively similar emails asking about our contention (or the Bible?s contention, as we argue) that dinosaurs and humans lived at the same time. Both authors write as Christians, so we thought this would be a good opportunity to address the question once again and touch on some of the issues it relates to.” The contention of humans and dinosaurs living at the same time is not of the Bible. It’s all made up b...

CMI?s Own Feather Fossil Fantasy
2008-05-06 21:50:00
After going through a huge spiel about dino/bird ancestry and feathered evolution similar to the old worn-out claims of “If humans evolve from monkeys, why are still monkeys around?” Creationist Shaun Doyle ends his CMI article, Feather Fossil (sic} Fantasy with this tripe, “From a biblical view, these feathers are likely to have come from a chick and were encased in amber during the Flood.” No, Doyle. Not from a biblical worldview, but from a stupid, fantasy young earth worldview, the real feathered fossil fantasy, entirely made up without presenting a single evidence for any conclusion creationists made up in response to primitive feathers found encased in amber dated around 100 million years old in which they claim to have come from “a chick” (not a dromaeosaur chick, mind you, but a modern baby chicken) which fell off and “were encased in amber during the Flood.” Now that’s a real feather fossil fantasy Doyle is making up...
Blackwater shooting highlights ignorance of American officials
2008-05-04 17:52:00
Mohammed Hafidh Abdul-Razzaq had been summoned by U.S. Embassy officials who wanted to make amends for the killing of his 10-year-old son. The boy died during a shooting involving employees of Blackwater Worldwide, the U.S. security firm. Deputy Chief of Mission Patricia A. Butenis told him that she was sorry for what had happened, Abdul-Razzaq recalled. She gave him a sealed envelope. It had his name written on it. Abdul-Razzaq pushed it away. “I told her I refuse to receive any amount,” the auto parts dealer said. “My father is a tribal sheik, and we’re not used to taking any amount unless the concerned will come and confess and apologize. Then we will talk about compensation.” In September, Blackwater contractors protecting an embassy mission killed 17 Iraqis, including Abdul-Razzaq’s boy, and injured at least two dozen in a widely publicized incident in west Baghdad’s Nisoor Square. Blackwater officials have said their workers feared the...

The Tragedy of Ignorance
2008-04-25 11:27:00
by Tom Chartier A long time friend exclaimed: “Of course the war in Iraq is working! If it wasn’t every street corner would have a mosque and we’d all be forced to convert at gunpoint!” It was rather a sad thing to hear. I couldn’t help but wonder where his shocking Islamophobia came from. I have to suspect the usual culprits, the mainstream news, late-night comics, talk radio, the list goes on. Such is the era of George W. Bush’s with us or against us mentality. However it would be unfair to place this Western fear of Islam on George’s shoulders. His foreign policies have exacerbated the fear of Islam but as much as I think he is incompetent at best, George W. Bush is not to blame. The Western fear of Islam goes back centuries since the days of the Crusades to reclaim the Holy Land and the defeat of the Crusaders by Salah al-Din. In America the Iranian Islamic Revolution of 1979 with the hostage crisis was a turning point towards greater fear of Islam. My friend’s...

Shariah comp-LIEnt investments- Exploiting the widespread ignorance
2008-04-08 16:37:00
Do you remember when you were a kid your parents brought you a coin box to save any extra pocket money which was left with you? Savings is a good thing and its one of the part of planning for building a future. But, is savings the most primary thing or there is something more to it? Kids are initially reluctant to drop their coins into that coin box or 'piggy' bank as it is popularly known, which no longer comes only in the 'pig' shape but also seen in the form of fruits, cartoon figures and objects to attract the kids' interest. Soon, the parents succeed in training the kids in the habit of saving money by giving them examples of how they could benefit from it and luring them to save with an expectation of a bigger reward in the future. When the kids grow up with such a habit of saving, they do not indulge in spending excessively. But, in Islam everything is done in moderation this applies also to savings. When the kids become adults, the savings concept has also grown up to be...
