Motorola's WiMax modems bring on the sex appeal.
2007-09-27 10:06:00 Apparently the boys and girls over at Motorola are getting some use out of Intel's 2250 Rosendale 2 Chipset's that are fully compatible with 802.16e-2005. This covers 2.3ghz, 2.5ghz, and the 3.5ghz, which fall under WiMax mobile. The surprising part is the pricing which will be $200 in Q4 2007 for the lower cost CPEi300. The much nicer black CPEi800 has built-in WiFi, 4 Ethernet ports and 2 analog line jacks not to mention an external antenna jack. This will drop in 2008 but no price has been set yet. These are quite appealing looking, makes you wonder if we'll ever see these in every Vermont bed and breakfast eventually considering the low cost and ease of installation and use. Considering I work for a wireless ISP I'd love to see how the infrastructure pricing is on these considering 200$ client devices that don't require external outdoor antennas would make our lives considerably easier.
