the impatience of web users
2008-05-28 13:21:00
According to the BBC, web usability guru Jakob Nielsen's latest report finds web users less tolerant and patient when it comes to web sites. Some key quotes from Dr Nielsen in his BBC piece"Web users have always been ruthless and now are even more so.." "People want sites to get to the point, they have very little patience.." "I do not think sites appreciate that yet, they still feel that their site is interesting and special and people will be happy about what they are throwing at them."It's a big challenge for brands to get their emotions, richness and feelings across, when all a user wants to do is find out the price of a product. I guess this is all about options and navigation, allowing the user to get to a place fast if they need to, but according to Dr Nielsen,  most want to take the expressway. Posted by Ed Cotton

Impatience becoming the normal in MLB

With Wayne Krivsky having been fired two years and 21 days into his general managing regime of the Cincinnati Reds, it's becoming more evident that GMs are under intense pressure to turn things around quickly. The days of the "five-year plan" are gone according to the Boston Globe. "I feel horrible for Wayne," said Terry Ryan, who gave up his GM job in Minnesota after last season and has become a special adviser to the Twins. "It can be an impossible position where the owner wants to win right now, but realistically there needs to be time to get all facets of the organization together, not just the major league team. I felt Wayne was doing some good tings. He had a strong minor league system, his scouting was healthy. He had really revamped his pitching with [Johnny] Cueto and Edinson Volquez and Francisco Cordero."When Reds owner Bob Castellini brought in Walt Jocketty as a special adviser — after Jocketty had been forced out of St. Louis — most figured Krivs...

Acne Treatments: Ineffectiveness or Impatience?
2007-12-03 09:48:00
Tip! Don’t wait until you break out to do something. Treat your skin on a daily basis and keep your acne at bay. Acne treatments generate billions of dollars every year. People flit from acne treatment to acne treatment in search of something, anything, that might work. I used to be one of those people until I realized that trying a different acne treatment every week doesn’t help combat acne. There are many reasons why an acne treatment, an acne product, or an acne program may seem ineffective, but the truth is, it may not work due to the user’s impatience. An acne treatment comes with instructions for very good reasons. When someone uses an acne treatment more than the product calls for, they may irritate the skin and, as a result, cause more acne to develop. On the flipside, when an acne treatment is not used as often as suggested, it lowers the effectiveness of the medication as well. So, if you have tried one acne treatment after another, be patient. A legit...

Impatience
2007-10-07 03:00:00
I created a schedule that estimates when I will pay off all my debts. I only considered income from my full-time job. This schedule doesn't factor in potential raises, increase in expenses, and income from the second job. As I mentioned before, the private student loan is at 0% so I will continue making the minimum payments of $200 until the loan is paid. Right now, I am concentrating on the credit card with a balance transfer interest rate and my auto loan. According to my schedule, I will pay the debts completely by:Credit card: May 2008Auto loan: March 2009Federal student loans: October 2009Private student loan: June 2010This is a conservative estimate. Of course, I'm aiming to pay them before the estimated date. Just looking at the dates is frustrating. I am so impatient. It seems like the auto and federal student loans will take forever to pay them off! However, I am going to stick to paying the highest interest rate loan because I will save money rather than paying the loa...

Terrorist Label for Iran Guard Reflects U.S. Impatience With U.N.
2007-08-18 17:37:00
In moving toward designating Iran?s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a foreign terrorist organization, the Bush administration is adopting a more confrontational approach with Tehran, reflecting frustration with a stalled sanctions package at the United Nations Security Council, officials said Wednesday. White House and State Department officials were debating when to make the formal designation ? White House officials want to do so now, and the State Department wants to wait until various August recesses are over ? but the administration was already adopting tougher talk toward Tehran. ?We are confronting Iranian behavior across a variety of different fronts, on a number of different, quote unquote, battlefields, if you will,? the State Department spokesman, Sean McCormack, told reporters in Washington. His use of the word ?battlefields? was described by some European diplomats as another ratcheting up of the anti-Iran statements. Mr. McCormack maintained that his use of th...

Gotta have impatience
2007-02-25 13:29:01
Patience, like time, is a commodity in great demand.  Impatience is experiencing an epidemic.   Many people make much ado about 'little things,' about where they're not, and don't take advantage of what's right in front of them. If this sounds familiar, you'd benefit from reviewing why you're impatient. Why not rethink how you could make more effective use of your time?  If you drive a car, you've heard a horn blowing behind you when you're in no position to go anywhere. How does this help the honker? What about the person who accelerates past you only to stop at the red light just ahead? And, then, the driver does the same thing to be stopped at the next intersection.  These drivers don't necessarily feel better when they vent steam. They only annoy you if you let them, but they still get nowhere fast. Which driver sounds like you?If you go into a shop, and nobody serves you, and you wish to g...

Patience is a commodity which is in great demand.  Impatience is experiencing an epidemic. Many people make much ado about insignificant, little things and still go nowhere fast.  If you drive a car, it's likely you've heard a horn blowing behind you when you're in no position to go anywhere. How does that help the person who does it? They let off steam and potentially anoy you, yet they still get nowhere fast.If you go into a shop, and nobody serves you, and you wish to get going somewhere else, how does that make you feel? Perhaps you feel the world should revolve around you when it doesn't. maybe you think people should be mind-readers. Is that fair?If your boss tells you to stop what you're doing and perform another task when it doesn't really need to be done,
