Voters choose to improve CTA Red Line
2010-04-12 01:34:00 The residents of the 49th Ward have spoken -- they want to see improvements to the Red Line. Last week, Rogers Park, West Ridge and Edgewater residents voted which projects should be completed in their ward up to a cost of $1.3 million.Among the projects up for grabs were adding 12 murals to CTA and Metra underpasses and installing benches and heat lamps on four Red Line platforms. Both projects were selected.A total of 1,652 residents participated in voting, according to Ald. Joe Moore's Web site. Fourteen projects were selected.The mural project received 740 votes while the bench project received 487 votes.Voting was open to anyone 16 or older.
