The Citadel-owned station switched last Friday from a smooth jazz format to "True Oldies," laying off its entire on-air staff in the process. Don Imus Back on Radio: Media Got it Wrong
2007-12-04 04:32:00 Don Imus is back on radio. Tonight on CBS network nightly news with Katie Couric, the Imus clip was terrific. He said he would not do anything to make the women of the Rutgers team question the sincerity of his earlier apology. Then… in case people who love him feared he’d lost his brand of humor… he said that Dick Cheney is still a war criminal and Hillary Clinton is still the devil… and that he’d signed a five year contract, because it was going to take that long to get back at everyone. He was in fine fettle. Then CBS nightly news drove straight into the offal pile by running a LOUD voice-over of Imus calling the Rutgers players “Nappy headed ho’s.” Remember it was McGuirk who’d led that charge with Imus sleepwalking into it… see earlier article here… FOUL! 2007-12-04 04:26:00 From Chickaboomer contributor ChannelFRXR: "Now that's blogging! Was at Town Hall following the live blog on the phone. Some thoughts: Karith Foster has a fantastic smile. She definitely has presence. Seemed to be very quick, did not pull punches. Connected well with both Imus and Deidre. (Life lesson, get along with the wife!) Tony Powell initially appeared uncomfortable. As the show went on he settled in. Imus led the sports reports. Which is probably good. Imus is very particular regarding the way sports are reported. Many a seasoned sports reporter has had their head handed to them. In exchanges with Imus, Tony was quick. He is good friends with Rob Bartlett who will definitely help character development and material. Enjoyed the interaction of the troupe, it will take time to develop chemistry and cohesion but there is potential. RFD is definitely a work in progress. Imus Hits the Waves Again
2007-12-03 19:36:00 Imus hit the waves today, I think this was time...heck I don't think he ever should've been kicked off the air waves. My only hope is that this won't alter the way he talks on the radio. Now he has vowed that he would not say anything like that again, so he should have an enjoyable ride.
