Anonymous commenter stays incognito.
2009-08-05 00:38:00 Earlier this afternoon, I posted a blog entry about an anonymous comment I received on the entry I wrote the night before. I wrote about the comment, and I wrote about how the email address used by the commenter to register a ChicagoNow account led me to a Nicholas Baker, a lawyer. I explained the steps I'd gone through to find this, and I acknowledged that there was a slim possiblity that it was not him--though truth be told, I thought it was. At the time, I'd put in a call to Baker. Left a message. No response. At 5:30, I got a call from an unknown number. It was Baker. I told him I was calling about an anonymous comment that was...
Comic Book Review: Incognito #2
2009-02-17 21:00:00 The Revolution enjoyed Incognito #1. Brubaker is one of the few writers who has earned my trust and I willingly purchase any title he writes regardless of the subject matter. Brubaker delivered with Incognito #1 and got me hooked on this title. I expect another well written read with Incognito #2. Zack is certainly not the most likeable protagonist, but he is definitely intriguing. Let's go ahead and hit this review for Incognito #2. Creative Team Writer: Ed Brubaker Artist: Sean Phillips Story Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10 Art Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10 Overall Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10 Synopsis: We begin in a secret facility located in "The middle of nowhere, USA." The guards at this secret prison are irritated that one of the serial killer inmates is being allowed to meet with his high-priced lawyer. We see the lawyer, Mr. Dupree, entering a room with a one way mirror window in it. Mr. Dupree's client is brought in by a guard. The client is Mr. Le...

This week is heavier with DC titles. I have to admit that this week does not really excite me all that much. The past several weeks have had some big issues coming out. This week is lacking that one or two titles that really has me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am looking forward to Nightwing #153 with decidedly mixed feelings. I have been so impressed with Tomasi?s handling of Nightwing. Tomasi managed to do what I thought was impossible and completely resurrect this title. And the best part is how Tomasi has been able to make Nightwing his own man. Tomasi has been able to accentuate the differe...

2008-06-03 22:40:00 Incognito - Remixed [1996]Remixed Link 2Remixed features a number of the group's tracks for Talkin' Loud/Verve remixed by stars like Pete Rock and Roger Sanchez. Some of these 12 songs have previously been released, but the bulk of the disc have never been easily available -- most are promotional-only remixes. Frequently these versions, including a steaming "Always Threre," actually improve on the original take, offering deeper, more textured grooves. In fact, it is arguably the finest, most consistent Incognito album available.Incognito - Last Night in Tokyo, Live [1996]Tokyo Live Link 2If you think Incognito is just a studio band think again. This live offering captures a tight, energetic, perfectly balanced band having a great time in Japan. Incognito fans will appreciate the ample song list loaded with favorites, but fear not; this isn't a boring greatest hits concert. There is a jam-session feel on several of the cuts and Maysa really shines with her own versions of Roots an...

2008-05-04 21:43:00 Incognito - Who Needs Love [2003]Incognito Link 2Incognito has been doing that since their first recording; there are two great songs in this Album that make this an even better CD; Stone Cold Heart with all kinds of Bossa Nova watercolors, and the Album title with Brazilian star Eddie Motta on vocals. Incognito blends so many musical styles that it's next to impossible to categorize its music. Songs on this album run the gamut from dance ("Morning Sun", "Where Love Shines") to bossa nova ("Stone Cold Heart") to quiet storm ("IF You Want My Love", the seductive "Don't Be A Fool"). Fans of true jazz may delight in the neo-sound of "Byrd Plays" and "Blue (I'm Still Here With You").Incognito - 100 Degrees and Rising [1995]100 Degrees Link 2In 1995 a bit of an earthquake occurred in the world of Incognito fans: the band's fourth album, "100 Degrees and Rising," was released...and Maysa Leak was nowhere to be found! As it turned out, Leak -the distinctive voice behind Incognito hits ...

2008-04-29 01:50:00 Incognito-Tales From The Beach [2008]Tales Link 2British neo-soul and acid jazz group Incognito have signed a new recording contract with U.S. label Heads Up International. The group, led by guitarist and producer Bluey Maunick, will release their new CD, Tales From The Beach, on June 24th.While the Incognito lineup has changed over the years, the new album will once again feature the talents of drummer Richard Bailey, bassist Francis Hylton, keyboardist Matt Cooper, and vocalists Tony Momrelle, Joy Rose and Imaani. The title of the new CD, Tales From The Beach, is drawn for Maunick's experiences growing up in on the African coastal island of Mauritius."When I was a kid, my first taste of music came from the beaches," he says. "I spent a lot of time listening to the hotel bands, or the bands playing around the bonfires and cookouts. It's a small island, so there were beaches everywhere. I was always watching live musicians play. So for inspiration for this album, I went back to var...

Incognito - Adventures in Black Sunshine [2004]
2008-02-13 01:33:00 Review by Reginald D. Garrard “the G-man” …the “adventure” doesn’t occur until track #5 (”The Principles of Love”). The first four cuts, though tolerable, do not come up to the standard that makes Incognito so internationally reknown. Thankfully, the rest of the album is the group’s trademark blend of R & B, Latin-flavored rhythms, and jazz. Strongest ...

Paris Hilton attempts to go incognito with black wig but fails miserably
2008-01-08 16:24:00 brought by www.thequeerofallmedia.com If her plan was to go clubbing incognito by wearing a black wig, then Paris Hilton failed miserably. Perhaps it was the dancing on tables and cuddling other girls which attracted the attention, but as always, the spotlight was on partygirl Paris. The heiress, who is anything but a dumb blonde under her wig, left toyboy Alex Vaggo at home, as she partied at LAX nightclub with a group of female friends. Scroll down for more… There’s no disguising blonde bombshell Paris Hilton despite the Katie Holmes-style wig At one point Paris cuddled actress Daniela Sea of bisexual drama, The L Word, before waving her arms in the air, closing her eyes and listening intently to the music. The 26-year-old socialite was clearly not letting recent inheritance issues get her down. It turns out her grandfather, Barron Hilton, has pledged 97 per cent of the Hilton fortune to charity. To My Incognito Reader
2008-01-01 00:24:00 Oh, how I wish you're really incognito, but you're not. I got you... You certainly veered away from your proxy browser, but do you honestly think I'm stupid? Yeah. you're still visiting me (using another system) and thanks for the additional traffic. To my friendly readers, I don't really mind the visits. I mind that this person, who is within my inner circle is acting like this: reading my blogs and acting as if this person is getting away with it. I don't mind anyone reading, but it's just annoying when the reader is someone you know so well and pretends not to know about the existence of my blogs. To this reader: go ahead, keep acting the same way. You don't know me. I reiterate one more time: why not keep busy by cleaning up your dirty domain if you even understand what I mean when I say domain. There's too many cobwebs, you have a lot of issues. You're such a pity and I feel bad that your neurosis and paranoia is slowly getting into your offsprings. Just hope they won'...

Facebook: Docteur Incognito
2007-12-03 06:01:00 I briefly talked about this during my show last week. About a year ago, I was totally against social networking sites. In fact, I have made fun of them in a post back then. Maybe it was just an anti my space thing. Who knows? But, since then, I've been further exploring and investigating this. I guess I really started appreciating social networking after I got my radio show up and running. Through some of the features on Blog Talk Radio, I how have supporters of the show who call themselves "friends" and even make my show a "favorite" (Thanks so much). After that, I started doing a little bit more with my Twitter account. And then, someone invited me onto Pownce. Although, I admit that I'm not as much a Powncer as much as I am a Twitter. You can definitely waste a lot of time on these sites.Which leads me into Facebook. For months and months, I've been hearing the hype from the media. And, I've had people send me invitations for be Facebook friends, but I initally ignored them. No...

2007-12-02 23:23:00 Incognito - No Time Like The Future [1999]From the opening bars of "Wild and Peaceful" (almost a description of the group's style) with its soaring strings, crystalline piano, and flawless vocal harmonies, it's apparent that No Time Like the Future is rich with Incognito's patented blend of soul and finesse. "It Ain't Easy," with its refrain of Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On," is a classic funk outcry; "Fearless" is a wordless chant with some great rhythm guitar and booting jazz saxophone; "Nights Over Egypt" backs another great vocal with popping bass and orchestral atmospherics; "Black Rain" mixes exotic drumming with some subliminal dissonance. Producer-composer-guitarist Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick has added string arrangements by Simon Hale, appearances by the horns of the hot Cuban band Irakere, and the performances of small army of R&B singers (Maysa, especially) and British contemporary jazz players (Ed Jones stands out on tenor and soprano). The result is an irresi...

2007-04-13 17:18:00 Just wanted to inform reader(s) that I am going to be incognito this afternoon, so you might be rid of my incoherent rants for the day. I'll try and do a better job of updating Hogs Haven through the weekend, though, duty calls. But what am I saying? This Website was never meant to be solely driven by the incoherent rants of just one incoherent ranter, but rather by the community of reader(s) through the diaries and discussions and comments. I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the Diaries section, especially in my absence. There's absolutely no reason any visitor of Hogs Haven should be robbed of breaking news or discussion simply because Skin Patrol is busy/sick/intoxicated/in jail/etc. There are also a few guys, Burgundy and Gold, TexSkins, and Zknower, who do an excellent job of tending shop in my absence. So please, write up a diary or post your random thoughts in this thread. If you do manage a diary that truly and utterly blows me away, that dazzles me through its ...

INCOGNITO: FRONT LINES
2006-12-02 16:04:05 by Kevin HodgsonThey published front line letters this week in the New Yorker and they arrived like missives in the night, exploding my own sense of calm from a world away with an increasing powerful detonation of fear and bravado. As I sank down between the words, I could almost taste the fine grit of sand on my tongue and the layers of dust on my teeth. I could almost feel the dry scorch of the air of the desert days and the bone-chilling cold of the nights beneath the shooting stars. I could almost sense the tight clench of the M16 gun barrel between my fingers and the rattle of the Humvee over potholed roads in my bones.Almost.(But I?d be lying ? I was just another passive reader in a safe house on the other side of the universe, drinking coffee and folding laundry and not even thinking about IEDs or mortars or spies along the roadside or midnight raids or body parts)I spied in from afar on these young men writing to mothers -- young women reaching out to fathers --friends explai... |
