In 2007 growing needs prompted the library authority to hire a consultant to assess the 20 year feasibility of the existing facilities. Ten focus groups and over 100 users worked toward determining future library needs. The results of the study prompted the hiring of Luckenbach/Ziegelman Architects to undertake the future construction/expansion project. In combination with the library project, the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority proposed a plan to replace the parking lot on the north side of the Library with an underground parking garage. Working together, both authorities developed a joint public survey to help guide future plans. Now the Ann Arbor Public is invited to discuss future plans for the Library.
