International Space Station
2008-09-02 04:36:00
“The space station is located in orbit around the Earth at an altitude of approximately 360 km (220 miles), a type of orbit usually termed low Earth orbit (The actual height varies over time by several kilometres due to atmospheric drag and reboosts [3]). It orbits Earth in a period of about 92 minutes; by ...

Funny Things Happening in the International Space Station
2008-05-28 23:35:00
There has been a really unusual problem in the International Space Station (ISS). The one and only toilet of ISS has been broken. Imagine how difficult the situation can be when astronomers cannot go to toilet and Nasa is not able to send a service man up there.. Ok, it is not that tragic anymore. The ...
Can You See the International Space Station (ISS)?
2008-05-23 17:49:00
Every day, there are hundreds of things flying above our heads. We take these things for granted, and even use their capabilities every day - from satellite television to cell phones, to planes and everything in between. But it isn't often that we actually can see these things. Usually, they
The Real Reason the International Space Station was Built

Japanese Astronaut?s Space Boomerang Came Back
2008-03-21 22:13:00
Japan’s Takao Doi has just checked out an aerodynamics conundrum we were all curious about: would a boomerang return when thrown in zero-G? World boomerang champion Yasuhiro Togai had asked him to find out, you see. So, taking time out from his work aboard the International Space Station, he gave it a whirl. The answer: “I ...

The International Space Station (ISS) is changing it's look! It is gradually moving towards completion. Last month astronauts installed the the Columbus Science Laboratory and this month Endeavour's STS-123 mission is going to install a Japanese-built laboratory, Kibo and a Canadian robot known as Dextre. Take a look at a recent picture of the International Space Station (ISS). With different modules, robotic arm and the expanding solar panel, ISS looks great! What you think?
International Space Station Columbus Module Launched.
2008-02-08 18:31:00
The much maligned International Space Station keeps moving forward oblivious to its critics.  Yesterday the Shuttle Atlantis blasted off with the Columbus Module aboard. The Columbus module is another science module with the ability to hold 10 racks of scientific experiments. It is growing and finally becoming a significant platform in space.  I understand the critics that deride its lack of strategic space location.  Its in-between-ness that doesn't help us much to get anywhere else in the solar system.  I understand the critics that bring up the ROI on a manned space station and compare it to one of our probe missions like the Mars Rovers. I understand all that. But I believe it provides other benefits: It teaches us how to construct complicated things in space.  What we are learning from the ISS will be crucial for ANY construction we do in space and if you think there won't be much call for that...well I disagree with you. This has been don...

The International Space Station
2007-09-28 11:49:00
Inhabited in late 2000, the International Space Station (ISS) is the first large scale example of multinational space collaboration. Since the initial media frenzy, the ISS has disappeared from the public spotlight. Despite the lack of attention, construction and experimentation continues. Many investigations are dedicated our physiological ability to live in space, which is vital if we are to continue our exploration of the universe.
International Space Station and Atlantis Visible June 19th & 20th
2007-06-21 16:38:00
Stargazers across the globe caught glimpses of the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle Atlantis racing through the sky early this week. Atlantis (Mission STS-117) undocked from the ISS on Tuesday evening, and still remains close to the station. Space agencies reported that viewers should be able to see the two spacecraft traveling through the sky near eachother. The Maryland Weather Blog reports that the shuttle should be flying “just ahead of the ISS…[which] should be brighter, and perhaps a bit amber compared with Atlantis“. Viewing conditions for this flyover are favorable due to new reflective equipment recently installed on the station, which will (along with Atlantis) be visible to the naked eye. The flyover was visible both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, however cloudy, unfavorable conditions blocked many viewers from seeing the celestial spectacle. Weather conditions throughout the country have cleared up for tonight’s flyover, which i...
