According to one of the sources of Info Edge, there was a significant growth in their net sales and margin which resulted in improvement of recruitment & real estate segment. Now it is reported that the company has invested $3million into Zomato.com and $4.3 million into Applect. The Zomato deal is an all-cash one while the Applect deal is a mix of equity and convertible preference shares. This is not the fist time that Info Edge have invested in Applect. Applect received its first round of funding in the year 2008 (Rs 6.5 crore for 40 per cent) and second round of funding in 2010 (Rs 5 crore). According to Applect, the funds will be used for leveraging the company’s content development, hiring, marketing as well as new product development.
