I tell you life in Ottawa is good....but woe, watch out for the political shinanigans going on in Ottawa. Lets take a look at the isotope issue again.I know, I know it's old. But crap it's a good example. No names please...So we have lady X who is a nuclear watchdog, and who decides to close down 1 of 2 isotope providing reactors in the world. Isotopes needed to help people, to save people. Now we listen on how the government boondaggles the whole thing and reopens the reactor so they the government can save lives. The question is why was the reactor it unsafe? Can we in Canada have a Chenobyl?Big fears for it was because of the following backup system, outdated equipment and something about minor tremors in the region over the past six months.Person X is now canned...oops! Did we step on someones toes. Me thinks so!Anyone I peronsally believe regardless of the system you always need a backup, whether it be power, 911 emergency calls, dispatching a...
Have you any spare isotopes Mon Ami?

I recently talked with someone who had been hired to test the proposed Olympic sites for contamination. The French have a thriving nuclear industry. I wonder if they would like to dispose of some waste? We could have the waste and a site so contaminated that Paris could have the Olympics. Then my council tax would not go up to pay for it and I would be happier. I object to paying extra tax for these games which are of no benefit to my part of London. The only other way is to offer to rent out our house for the games but She Who Must Be Obeyed does not want me to offer it on EBay :-(

Scientists have created three new isotopes of magnesium and aluminum
2007-10-27 01:42:00
Researchers at Michigan State University’s National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) have created three isotopes of magnesium and aluminum. The results not only stake out new territory on the nuclear landscape, but also suggest that variants of everyday elements might exist that are heavier than current scientific models predict. The findings appear in the Oct 24th ...
13 - Iron?s Isotopes
2007-09-23 12:29:00
As the iron?s atomic number is encoded in the sura that mentions iron, there is also a sign in that sura about the iron?s isotopes. 1. The word ?el hadid? which means a particular iron has a mathematical value of 57. The article ?el? corresponds to ?the? in English. When the word hadid is used with the article ?el?, referring to a specific iron, the mathematical value turns out to be 57. Alif = 1 Lam = 30 Ha = 8 Da = 4 Ya = 10 Da = 4 Total = 57 2. The sura Iron (hadid) is the 57th sura of the Quran. And 57 is one of the isotopes of iron. ...
