2012-02-02 06:37:00 India’s Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued Show Cause Notices to India’s five private operators, including Bharti Airtel , Vodafone and Reliance Communications, for under reporting revenues. As per a special audit report conducted for the period between 2006 to 2008, gross discrepancies about the actual revenue generated & the one reported, were found. This was allegedly done in order to pay much lower license fees. This has resulted in a loss of over Rs. 1600 Crores (US$ 330 Million) that is now being sought from the TelCos. Communications Minister Mr. Sibal confirmed the same yesterday & his department has put forth a condition to deposit about 1000 Crores immediately & only after that the companies will get to meet the Minister face-to-face to explain their side of the story. Objecting as I do to Apple's content-censoring decisions, I chose a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, which is now named Tabibito. I spend the first few days getting the hang of the interface, downloading a few apps and rearranging the screen the way I like it. You know, normal stuff. Once I got myself up and running, I loaded up with a bunch of books - first things first. (Over My Dead Body by Nero Wolfe and The Calculus Diaries by Jennifer Ouellette, in case you care.) Then I decided that, if I had the chance, I'd try my hand at reading Batwoman as a digital download. As I've said before, I never was a DC comic reader. The dampener is that it people are reporting about Wi-fi issues with the device. There are some bugs which still have to be squashed out. The problem seems to be that the device has trouble connecting and sustaining the Wi-Fi network. Other people are also reporting that the device loses Wi-Fi when the display goes off. This is especially annoying when you are listening to Internet radio. According to Amazon’s support forums, there are quite a few workarounds to these problems. The findings are published in the British Medical Journal on 22nd October 2011 (online 19th October 2011).
