Chemical Weapons Conventions and Phosphorous Bombs
2008-06-08 19:00:00 I don’t know and I want to ask from the learned readers that does the phosphorous bombs come under the jurisdiction of Chemical Weapons Convention, of which Pakistan is a signatory? The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) is an arms control agreement which outlaws the production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons. Its complete name is the ...

Aabpara Hotel Blast in Islamabad
2007-07-27 14:52:00 Just seconds ago, in a suicide attack in the Aabpara Islamabad, which is just some steps away from Lal Masjid, more than dozens killed and many wounded. Many of the dead include policemen who were eating their belated lunch in the hotel.Due to the agitation in Lal Masjid after the Jumma Prayer, in which police used tear gas to disperse the people, the tension was high in the area. This blast has clearly shown that Lal Masjid issue is still alive and haywire. During the Jumma Prayer, students ousted Maulana Ashfaq from the Mosque and refused to say prayer in his leadership. Then they started painting the Mosque in red, and also wrote Lal Masjid on many places in the Mosque.Things are really critical in the capital, and people are terrified. Residents of G-6 are moving out of the area once again, and police and security agencies are once again gathering in the area. We urge people to show restrain and tolerance and dont let enemies exploit the situtation. The people who died and go...
NWFP On FIRE
2007-07-15 18:43:00 More than 50 people have been killed in no time in the shocking attacks in the tribal and NWFP region of Pakistan. Ministry of interior has acknowledged that it is more than likely a retialiation or aftermath of Lal Masjid operation.Where is the sanity? To whom we are killing? Why taking revenge from our own brethern? Why cause destruction at our own motherland? Why make the roots of Pakistan hollow? Why pushing country to the ages of caves? Why not work together harmoniously and systematically to resolve the issues and step forward towards prosperity. What history would be told to the posterity?Peace, peace, peace is the mantra.
Attack on Security Forces
2007-07-15 10:59:00 As an aftermath of Operation Silence, frontier province in the north of Pakistan is fast becoming restless. In recent attacks on security forces, which include suicide bombings, sniper attacks, land mines etc dozens of security officials have been killed. Swat region, which is also a tourist joint, is badly affected by the riots. As most of the students residing in Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa were from the frontier province and tribal areas, the back lash is stronger there. At this crucial juncture, we urge people to please show restrain and spread peace and harmony. If a bad thing has been done in a bad way in Islamabad, then these following violent attacks will serve no useful and constructive purpose and will only aggravate the already dismal situation. In these testing times, country needs unity and harmony. Government should also show tolerance and maximum restraint and try to involve the local religious and political leaders and try to diffuse the situation. Use of force is not ...
LAL MASJID: Some Facts
2007-07-13 18:39:00 Ah?.another bloody game to perpetuate power. The players acted exactly as per the role given to them in the script written by somebody who is all out to save his position. The bloody dramas in history of Pakistan are not new. Ayub Khan after his shameful 'victory' against Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, tried to avert the public attention and launched operation gibralter which resulted in Indian attack in 1965 resulting deaths of thousands of Pakistanis. Yahya Khan attacked East Pakistan in a hope that the public opinion will be diverted to that issue and he would find more time to rule. Zia was no exception. He continued same bloody games by dancing on one or the other tunes, Islam was the most popular on his agenda. It was expected after Musharraf found himself in crisis after Chief Justice case and his declining popularity that he would do some ugly deeds to avert public opinion from the real issues and to get accoloade from his western masters. He did it successfully. He held a card i...
Lal Masjid: A Learning
2007-07-13 07:46:00 Post contributed by Mr Talal Hussain MalikThe Lal Masid operation finally concluded with the death of insurgents. It can, without a doubt, be declared as one of the most shocking incidents in the history of Pakistan. It is such a pity what the Lal Masjid insurgents did on the name of Islam. The government, on the other hand, once again proved its incompetence. Amazing that the judges of the Supreme Court be spied but the accumulation of arms in the Capital should go unnoticed like that. What makes the Lal Masjid operation doubtful is the fact that curfew has still not been done away with even at the completion of the operation. The Lal Masjid incident is enough for us to realize that our nation needs a complete over hauling and for that we need an expert mechanic. Our people need to be educated in the right way, especially about Islam. Keeping a beard but planting bomb on the barber's shop_ this is not Islam. Islam is a complete religion and it needs to be practiced the way it is r...
Monkey Dance
2007-07-11 14:51:00 Many of us have witness in streets of cities, people with a monkey come and entertain the residents. Acrobats performed by the monkey on the instruction of the master really amuse especially the children. This is a source of earning for the monkey?s master and off-course for the monkey too.The third world countries perform like those monkeys. They have to perform some acrobats to please their masters so that they can survive and earn living. Their earning, protection, safety, success totally depends upon the performance they show. All the predictions and planning are done by those masters.Once in Russia-Afghan war those who got training and weapons by the approval of those masters, Al-Qaida and others proved their skills by fighting the Russian Army and Air Force with the help of Stinger Missiles also, defeating USSR which later on broken into pieces, Mission Accomplished. To stop insurgencies within Afghanistan a force named ?Taliban? was established with the approval of the same ma...

Mr. Abdul Aziz Got Arrested Concealed in Burqa
2007-07-04 19:58:00 Commaner in chief of Lal-Masjid Movement, Maulana Abdul Aziz got arrested by two rangers, while he was trying to run away concealed in Burqa. How much more they could ridicule the Burqa? The air from the balloon of Lal Masjid issue is getting out fast. The tone of Maulana Abdul Rasheed, who is the younger brother is very reasonable and deflated now. He is also stunned at the turn of the events. He seemed to be awaken from a dream. The Lal Masjid students are coming out fast and registering themselves to the officials. Common sense seems to be prevailing fast luckily. Bloody show down seems to be suspended now. What a fiasco.

No action in Jamia Hafsa case shows military-jihadi link
2007-04-09 13:34:00 via Daily Times, Pakistan : HRCP says no action in Jamia Hafsa case shows military-jihadi linkThe Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) discussed the ?dysfunctional government?, growing anarchy, rising religious militancy, the ?disappearances? of citizens and the current judicial crisis in its annual general meeting on Sunday. The commission then issued the following statement: ?This annual general meeting (AGM) of the HRCP has found that the firsthand reports of the situation in the various parts of the country point to: A strong link between state agents and militant groups that are operating in the country with impunity; and that resolving such deep-seated rot in the system of governance is not possible unless unrepresentative organs of the state ? the military, the mullah and the all-consuming intelligence agencies ? are brought under control and prevented from undermining both the state and the societies."I agree with them.

Jamia Hafsa : Lal Masjid goes online
2007-04-06 06:55:00 Zionists are attacking Islam. The Women?s Protection Act violates Sharia law. And the students of the Jamia Hafsa madrassa rescued Islamabad?s residents from a living hell by running a brothel madam out of town. Or so says Lal Masjid on its website (), which was launched last month and has already drawn 6,000 visitors. The extremist clerics that run the mosque and its madrassas, Jamia Hafsa and Jamia Fareedia, have taken their effort to Talibanise society online.Despite the controversial content of the website, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority says it cannot close it. ?We cannot stop the website even if it is doing anti-government propaganda,? said a PTA official requesting anonymity. He said that there were many other websites disseminating anti-government messages. He denied that the PTA was behind the malfunctioning of the website on Thursday. The administrator of the website, Shahzad Ahmed, says traffic to the site has increased since Jamia Hafsa students raided the alleg...

The unreasonable Jamia Hafsa
2007-03-31 06:47:00 The students of Jamia Hafsa are at it again! It is clear that such madrassas are breeding grounds for religious zealots prone to carrying out terrorist activities. I was shocked to hear that the female students of Jamia Hafsa kidnapped two poor women and a six-month-old baby for allegedly running a brothel.Apparently, the Hafsa students have also been going around town threatening video shop owners. The male students of Jamia Fareedia in E-7 were involved in clashes with the police. These self-righteous thugs (male and female) must be sorted out. The military establishment must clean up this mess. This is a self-created problem, the result of nurturing extremist culture, which now the government must combat. It is no secret that the E-7 madrassa has been previously used for ?military? training. The military establishment must reprimand misogynistic extremists at Jamia Hafsa along with their fascist supporters in parliament. This battle is as important as the battle for the freedom o...

Laathi Raj: Jamia Hafsa?s Offensive on a Divided Society
2007-03-29 07:06:00 Adil Najam The pictures coming out of Islamabad are not good. Not good at all. Here is yet more evidence - as if we needed more evidence - of a society at war with itself. The hostage-taking by women students from Jamia Hafsa in Islamabad of the residents of a house that they allege is a brothel is ... |
